I found the set up for this printer to be really easy and quick. It connects to your wifi connections quickly and you can even print wirelessly from your phone. The one major set back is that it is quite loud when printing and the printing speed is slow compared to other printers I have had.

I have been trusting and using Canon printers for decades but my last reliable printer, iP 6700D died a month ago so went out researching for another photo printer that can print on DVDs as well. After a lot of research settled on the Canon TS9020. Best Buy had the best price so bought one. The first one stopped working after about 10 days with an error message that said to look for jammed paper or something. There was no such problem so eventually had to exchange it for a new one because the message will not go away. This new one started aborting printing in the middle of a page and said printer is offline. Lost paper and ink. Ethernet connection not far from the printer, not WiFi. Then it was giving 'streaks' on DVDs. Not color streak but as if something is rubbing against the glossy surface of the disc while printing and creating the dull lines as streaks. On top of all that the machine constantly 'nags' ('remove disc, register the paper, push the tray in, pull the tray out'). When you pull the DVD tray out it does not detect that you already did that, you must press OK every time. Then there is the 'preening' that is worrisome as it may be consuming ink. Speaking of ink, most of the tanks bottomed after about 10 sheets and DVDs, no more than 15 for sure! New ink that came with the printer! The construction is mostly plastic and with so many motorized and manual moving parts (trays lids, covers) I was not sure what kind of life this would have. The iP6700D must have lasted me well over 5 years while being used not so sparingly. Returned this today and am very upset by the loss of productivity and the time lost because of this machine. But the Best Buy employ was very understanding. I wanted to get the 7720 but none in stock so am going to order online. I am hoping that it is built better and the software inside is not so irksome. Some of the Canon printers I've owned include S900, iP4000, iP4500 and Pro-100 none of which was so annoying and troublesome. In the name of making it compact they have made the TS9020 very fragile and, did I mention annoying?

I have owned multiple Canon cameras and printers. I love Canon but this printer was a disappointment. What should have taken 30 min, tops, to setup took over 5 hours because the driver download kept freezing up. The printer turns off automatically, to save power, so every time I go to print something I have to go and turn the printer back on. Every time you load paper you have to verify the paper size. It doesn't have an auto document feeder for scanning multiple pages so you have to scan one page at a time via the flatbed scanner. It seems like for every function you use there are 1-3 extra steps you have to take to do what you want it to do. It's way over complicated, unnecessarily. The photo print quality is not great which is one of the alleged features I bought it for. The photos do not print out the way they look on the media device (camera, phone, computer). It ads too much black when it was designed to use a grey color cartridge for better black and white photos.

I had a Canon printer that kind of died after 11 years. Couldn't get it fixed and needed a printer that could print directly on CD & DVD. This printer was a previous year model that was $150 off the cost of the replacement. The only difference I could see was the lack of the newest WiFi capabilities of 801.11AC. Supports all the other WiFi speeds. No reason to spend extra money for something I don't really need.
