I went away for the weekend without my dslr camera that I have had for years. I found this and knew I had to have it.

My camera did not include the full manual, which is very good, but found it on the Canon web site. Only includes a Getting Started guide. The usb cable was also missing. Otherwise am pleased with it as a capable point and shoot. I paid $490. Should be $400 in my opinion.

It has what I want, a compact yet powerful camera to zoom in. But think it should at least come with a soft pouch for protection.

This camera takes amazing pictures and with the WiFi option I can transfer them to my phone or computer

I rarely write bad reviews but felt I needed to warn people about this camera. I’ve owned at least 10 digital cameras over the years (mostly Panasonic LUMIX, and Canon) I’ve never had major problems with any of them. I’m an amateur photographer and have taken thousands of pictures all over the country. However after purchasing this little camera I feel I can say that this Canon model is a lemon. At least the one I purchased is (though a quick internet search will show lots of problems with this camera from other people too). After using it for only the second time, I started noticing weird lines scrolling across the screen, kind of like an old tv that’s going out. Then the lens wouldn’t retract. After reading dozens of internet camera sites and researching the problem, I took the battery out, charged it and waited a couple of days before reinserting. After a couple of days, I inserted the battery, and nothing. It still wouldn’t turn on. I took the battery back out and checked the charge (it was already depleted but remember I had just charged it) The battery was new, so I didn’t think it was the battery, and decided to charge it again. I Inserted it back into the camera and amazingly the camera turned on, and the lens retracted back into the camera when I turned it off. Now I’m thinking it must’ve been a fluke, so I turn the camera back on and try to take a picture and the lines on the screen startup again and it shuts down. (At least the lens retracted this time). Okay, I do more research and people were saying I needed to buy a new battery. I’m not happy since this is a new camera, but I order a new battery. When the battery arrived I insert the newly purchased battery and nothing happens. The camera won’t turn on. I give up, this camera is a lemon. I read all the reviews about alternate ways to turn it on, etc. (and I tried them all) but NOTHING WORKS! I paid over $400 for this tiny camera and I only took like 25 pictures before it would no longer work! I’m now in the process of boxing it up and taking it to the Geek Squad. Sadly, I purchased this for my 16 day trip to Iceland and the UK but now I have nothing and I’m out $400+ for the camera, $15 for a strap, $50 for a new battery, and who knows how much time I’ve wasted on this! (I can’t take one of my larger cameras in my trip as space is limited, as I’m doing carry on only) This has turned me off of Canon Cameras. My research says many people have had the exact or similar problems with this model camera. Is it because they’re making them with cheaper parts since the pandemic or what? Who knows? I’m putting my trust in The Geek Squad to help make this right. (I purchased the four year protection plan. Thank Goodness!) I’m going to stick with Panasonic LUMIX from now in. What a Canon nightmare! My advice is to buy the protection if you get this camera model, as you’ll probably need it!

Unfortunately, I am hung up. Bot it to replace my broken previous model. I used Geek Squad and Canon Guy, still so in over my head. Coincides with Corona, so no one can help me face to face. I would return it if I could and use money to repair my old one. Iam too old, I guess. This is a pathetic review, Ive always loved my Canon cameras.

Great camera but very expensive, even with a discount

Camera works great and zoom is a very smooth. Pictures are clear and undistorted. My wife uses it as we travel in our truck and fifthwheel trailer.
