Great camera very happy with the clarity as well as the video feature

I purchased the Canon Powershot SX740 HS because I wanted a small camera with an optical zoom. The optical zoom is good but the images from my iPhone Mini 13 are much more vibrant. I think the iPhone Mini 13 has superior image processing.

We upgraded from our Canon PowerShot SX720 HS 20.3 MP Compact Digital Camera - 1080p a camera our whole family truly loved. Great photos, excellent video, and very easy to operate. We still have this camera and love it. One of the reasons I upgraded was I could use the same batteries I already had with the new camera. The good is this camera looks and feels great. Comes with an upgraded processor, 4k video and timelapse and a ton of bells and whistles. That is about where the good stops and the bad starts. With the upgraded processor it seems to have some lag from when the shutter is pressed and when the image is taken. Big problem, I am trying to capture action and you really have to adjust your timing, but that is just the start. The 4k video in a bright room was grainy and almost unwatchable - i didn't even share any of the dozen or so videos I took because they are so far from the quality I am used to. The focus on the video is another huge problem. It had trouble and would keep adjusting the focus during recording also adding to make these unwatchable. The photos also leave a lot to be desired. I tried every mode and auto and the same result. Grainy, unfocused, even in good light. Low light forget it. The 4k timelapse was okay, it takes 24 minutes to make a 24 second clip and that was okay. The photos/video just did not cut it for the pricetag. I took this back. I may buy another of the camera I bought this one to replace. I returned this unit for the video/photo quality - out of focus, grainy, even in good light. Check other reviews and judge for yourself - better yet go try one in person before buying to help avoid yourself the trouble of a return.

Huge disappointment received as a gift not even a year old Best Buy Manager says looks like a hair in scope and that would not be under warranty.. when in fact it is a plastic thread from inside scope that has unwound yes a defect when making this canon. But he said i had to give 85.00 up front to send it off and because it would NOT his words be under warranty thinking it is a hair I would be out 85.00 and get my defective camera back without being fixed... My second Canon from this store.. Done with Best Buy..
