This camera is very easy to use. Just point and shoot. Zooming in is not that easy though. But, I'll get used to it. The wow part is that I don't have to chase the birds anymore. I can get decent photos of them even though they are far away.

Borrowed a 730 and fell in love with it so I bought the 740. There is a little of reading that needs to be done but it is easy to use. I took some great close up pictures of my daughter in the band from across the field. Very sharp pictures. I mostly use the camera in the "P" and "SCN" with great results. Highly recommend it. Make sure to use a fast SD card (170 MB/s) for better results.

I use the camera daily for my work as a Fine Art Appraiser. This is the 4th time I've purchased this camera, because it's easy to use, perfect for my needs, and I love the latest version, even more convenient and easier to take great pictures, close up or at a distance.

After having and using this camera for about a month now. I can honestly say this camera is perfect for those who want to vlog and not break the bank. It is perfect for beginners. Although it does not have the same features as bigger DSLR cameras, it gets the job done! 10/10 I recommend!

Point and shoots are not big sellers these days. But i like canon’s for their hybrid auto mode (auto create a short movie of the day with short video + pictures taken). I have a older canon point and shoot i use to shoot photos. After a vacation using a small gimbal video recorder that didn’t work well, i thought to pick up a powershot to shoot only video (small size at 1080p) was a plus.
Canon has discontinued most of its powershot but l cameras but luckily best biy had this model. Model is in the middle toer of old powershots but worls great for me.

This is my 3rd Canon point & shoot camera over the past 12 years. I have always been pleased with the products, and have found that each succeeding model is improved from the previous model. I bought the PowerShot SX740 HS from Best Buy in early September. I was going on a trip to Morocco and wanted a newer model. I am very pleased with the results of this camera. The photos are generally crisp with vivid colors and I took over 1500 pictures. I really like the 40X zoom, especially when I want people in the distance in the photo. However, when moving in a bus, you have to be careful, because you can have blurred photos with the zoom at times. Also, low-lighted areas do not produce the best photos. Since I am not a camera buff, I generally use the automatic setting. For me, this has worked out fairly well. My videos recorded well and I was pleased with the results. For real camera enthusiasts, I'm guessing that there is a great deal you can do manually to make significant changes. While the SX740 is slightly heavier than previous models, it worked fine in my hands. The flash worked fine, but I initially did not realize that I needed to manually pop it open for proper activation. Overall for my needs, this is a great camera for those wanting great photos in a small package. Thank you, Canon!

The 40x optical zoom and 4K video capabilities are awesome to have in such a small package! I love the fact that I can easily transfer the pictures to my phone or computer with the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi capabilities. The Camera is solid and the controls are sturdy and easy to use. The pictures that I have taken during daylight hours are very crisp. I have not taken any pictures in low light yet. Thus far I am very happy with this camera, and it is worth every penny.

This camera is user friendly and an excellent quality picture! It’s zoom is easy to use to quickly get that bird shot and auto focus does the rest. The cropping and other special effects are easy to use and the pixels are high enough to give a clear crisp shot. For a point and shot camera it performs wonderfully!

Compact and lightweight. Carry while biking. Zoom is very good for camera this size. Lacks viewfinder and fully-articulating screen which makes picture taking difficult in certain positions and lighting. Screen resolution is not indicator of printed or viewable photo. Camera dial and controls are small and difficult to read in low light.

Good camera for the price. My first unit failed on 2nd use. Found a Best Buy nearby on my trip and got a replacement without any hassles. Second camera works fine. Image quality is good. Buy an extra battery, camera case and memory. You're going to need it.

I love this camera! It is incredible, great features and quality! I use it to vlog and to record videos for my Youtube channel. It is light and not bulky at all, easy to fit in my purse and has great resolution! I just LOOOOVE IT!!!

A portable and quality camera! The Canon PowerShot feels like a high end camera with its 4k recording, 20.3 megapixels, manual mode and has a medium weight feel to it. It comes in handy when you want to take that perfect photo quickly.

Great camera. We bought this 5 years ago for a trip where we did not want to take a big camera. It took such great pictures, it was easy to pick it again when we needed another camera for a family member.

So before buying this I was debating between the SX740 HS and the Gx7 ii and I am very happy I went with the SX740 HS for my needs! A big price difference but the video quality is still superb and excellent, plus easy to use

I absolutely love this camera! I’m an ambassador for an online clothing store & its perfect content creation. It also takes great videos for my YouTube Channel. The flip screen is so convenient and my favorite feature. It’s definitely a great quality camera for the price you pay
Overall amazing value, just don’t use it at night.

This is a good camera. I have a lumix fz80 and bought this as necessary backup.
It does the job right. It’s a point and shoot and the pictures do look great.
Pros:
Great autofocus
40x zoom is actually good
Daylight pictures look sharp, vivid and have no noise
Has continuous shooting 8fps and works really well with sports, I bought it mainly for that and it fits the bill.
Tilting screen for selfies is good.
On daylight you can forget your dslr and pick this up to shoot pics.
Full manual control which is awesome for such a compact camera
Cons:
Low light performance sucks, my fz80 does a much better job obv
No Raw support
No jpeg compression
Pictures can be a tiny bit soft for some people’s tastes
Optical zoom up to 40x zoom is amazing, I don’t recommend using the digital zoom, even though it can go up to 160x on digital, but I don’t recommend and you can get grainy pics.
Make sure to register your product on the website or else you won’t get firmware updates. I didn’t notice I had to until I had already thrown my paper away that had my registration info. Don’t be me.

My first camera purchase in 15 years, so I did my research. I think the Canon - PowerShot SX740 HS is by far the best camera for the money. Great still photos, wonderful video, and transfer capability out the wazoo. Great compact size for travel and zoom is terrific for a small point and shoot camera. I would recommend purchasing a second battery for those sightseeing days when everything is to your liking. The "flip-up" view screen is very bright and clear, but I would like to see more agility from the view screen. It is a great vlogging camera, but for those of us who won't be using it as a video diary camera, a nice tilt/swivel screen (especially in bright light conditions) would be great. I really love this camera!
