Purchased this Canon to take pictures at my niece's weding. The pictures are beautiful. My concern is the battery does not last as long as I had expected it too or the instruction booklet said. Not sure if my fault or the battery or the camera.

best camera I've gotten , if you like to go out places a lot & need that good Zoom this camera is small but does justice with the quality ! Love this camera I'd definitely recommend.

bought this camera at best buy a couple of months ago. worked well until a couple of days ago, then the lens got stuck and did not retract - lens error 60. ok, premature end to scenic picture taking. back home, computer search, known problem, workaround. tried the workaround 15-20 times, no avail, let camera sit, try workaround again a few times, and.... drum roll..., miraculously one random try actually works. next day, more picture taking, and, ... drum roll, camera craps out again. lens stuck in zoomed position, lens error 60 strikes again. back to trying workaround, trying, trying, giving up, trying, trying, over the course of three hours while hiking in a scenic spot on the sierra eastside (california). hike is almost over and, voila, a random workaround try actually works. today, the third consecutive day in the camera stuck lens saga. climbing at owens river gorge. taking pictures of surroundings on the hike to lower gorge, and, once again, you probably guessed it - LENS ERR 60 - strikes again! back to workaround, and trying, trying, trying,... to no avail (see iphone pic of canon 740 on hike back out). back home, in depth scouring of internet and 'success' in finding firmware updates. update 1.0.1 fixes the dreaded lens err 60, but wait a second, i'm already running 1.0.1!!! ok, let's update to 1.0.2, the latest firmware version. successful update, but LENS ERR 60 persists.... by now i've literally spent hours trying to fix this problem and lost a lot of great picture opportunities in the process. to be honest, i expect more from a $400 product specifically and canon in general. this camera sucks!

I needed a small camera to take on vacation. My Cannon 7D was too large to travel with on planes and busses. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the SX 740 HS had many of the same settings I was used to. It takes very good close up and telephoto pictures. If you are looking for a small easy to use camera, I would recommend looking at this one.

I’ve always been a fan of the canon powershot. I think one of my biggest features that I look for are not only the clarity of picture, but the optical zoom. Definitely one of the best optical zoom distances. Take a lot of pictures at work for the various performing groups that travel. Make it easy to take a nice picture without having to take my DSLR with me.

I bought this camera for my mom so that she could record && share YouTube videos. She absolutely love it. The quality is amazing, crystal clear videos. And although it wasn’t purchased for taking pictures we still snapped a couple && they’re great as well. It even had a pop up flash! Best purchase I’ve made in a while.

I use for my YouTube channel. Just need to learn how to focus because it blurs a lot . But GREAT camera

I am in no way a professional photographer, but I do enjoy taking pictures of our various adventures. This camera has a nice small design that allows me to keep it close on our trips, (canoeing, camping, dog activities, working Sled Dog races, etc) It takes very good photos and has been a real "friend"

Bought this camera for a trip to Alaska. It was an excellent choice. Clear crisp photos. Excellent zoom and auto focus. Breaching whales and calving glaciers all caught on video. Friends and family were impressed with the quality of the photos. Recommend this camera highly.
