Must be a Century Link Customer

This modem is limited to use by Century Link Customers. It had grat reviews, better than the AT&T modems, so I purchased it, but alas, despite great cooperation from both my AT&T technical assistance and the Century Link people, I could not reset it to work at my IP address.

    Terrible Wifi range

Purchased the C1000A today after my last router was randomly resetting itself every 45 minutes. Initial setup was not automatic, had to call customer service to set it up. (No big deal, things like that happen). After setting up the wireless internet, found that the range of the Wifi was roughly 6 feet. My last router in the same location was 25+ feet. Tried changing the wireless signal channel to no avail. Taking this pile back and using my old router until something better comes along. Not worth the money if you are planning on utilizing the wifi.

    Never got it to work

I bought this branded Centurylink product mistakenly believing this meant it would be easy to connect to my Centurylink DSL service. I spent 2.5 hours on the phone with an obnoxious Centurylink customer service rep trying to get this device to work. Finally gave up in disgust (after she had me repeat the same actions over and over and over with no success). So I packed it up and returned it to Best Buy (no problems with that.) Replaced it with a NetGear N300 Wireless DSL Modem Router and was connected and up and running in about 6 minutes. If you use a diffferent internet provider than Centurylink, but use their DSL, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Won't work with an ADSL connection!

I used this modem for 5 weeks and found that the connection frequently dropped. Sometimes the modem reconnected automatically, but often it wouldn't. When the connection was restored either automatically, or because I had to power-cycle the modem, the download speed was often less than 200 Kb/sec! After extensive research, I discovered that I was having problems because I have an ADSL connection! Fortunately, BestBuy refunded the purchase price, even though I returned it 5 weeks after purchase!

Get it if you love being disconnected

If you LOVE getting disconnected - then my friend, this is the product for you. I'm trying to actually work from home today. Waste of time. It seems every time you push it a little too hard - your internet light goes away and you have to reset the router. I've already done this about 6 times already this morning. Don't buy this product.

    Defective

Drove to Burlington, bought the modem, came home and unpacked it, followed the easy set up instructions which said plug in and wait for power light to stay on not blinking. 30 min later power light never came on. I guess it is back to the store.
