For a few dollars more you can get something that integrates with true whole home automation IE Alexa, Google etc. I don't want a separate app for every single device I have.

I purchased this device after reading about its compatibility with Google Assistant. I set it up, checked it out with the MyQ app, and then connected it with my Google Home. It CLOSES the door! When instructed to OPEN the door, it did nothing. When I called support (another sad story) I was told "Oh, we don't do that". Apparently, there's some kind of "security issues ", according to MyQ, translated "buy OUR gear". Did you guess? I'm taking this trash back to Best Buy (not your fault, guys).

This product is useless if you have a garage door opener that was made after 2015 because the new garage openers come with the same features or even better ones.

After hours of trying and going back through the setup over and over I am returning this product. It never communicated properly with the door detector so it would just alarm like crazy when you tried to close the door then it would close it but the app said it was still open. You need a paid subscription to use this with your Google home line of products too.

The install took less than 10 minutes from unboxing to testing which was a nice surprise. The included door position sensor is a big bonus as I now have the assurance that my garage door is truly closed. This unit also sends immediate alerts when the door is opened or closed. The only downfall I have is the subscription fee charged to integrate with Google home or IFTTT. Charging a fee for integration is outrageous, especially with the limited functionality gained. I cannot justify $10 per year simply to ask whether my garage door is open or closed, especially when similar devices include this integration for free.

No other home automation item I have charges for google assistant integration. Not sure why these guys thing they're special. I returned it and got a NEXX garage door opener

This product is okay. We are able to see if our garage door is open or not, but we can’t always open or close it from the app.

This product is advertised as having google voice capability. However, it requires a subscription to use voice. Purchased this as a gift, and we concluded it was pointless.

We had the door opener with this built in on the last house. Purchased this for an existing door. Alerts show up hours later sometimes. Not that impressive.

Was not able to establish connection with our Genie, even with Total Tech support. Had to return.

Be warned.. this is not a universal solution. Did not work with my garage door opener (Gaurdian). Return went easy.

For the hub to work, the Wifi reception/signal in your garage has to be pretty good. Chamberlain recommends at least two bars. Make sure to do the "hidden" essential step that's not covered in the quick start but rather on the single page sheet about connecting an iOS device. That step is to open a browser and go to: setup.myqdevice.com which will help you connect the MyQ Smart Garage Hub to your home WiFi. The app works easily. I love being able to know that status of the garage door, as when I drive away wondering if I really closed the door. It is also nice to be able to open and close the garage from anywhere I have Internet access on my phone to for example open the door for someone needing access when you are not physically there. It is also great that it will work with most any garage door types and opener brands / models. A couple of minor gripes: The door sensor runs on batteries so you will have to periodically change batteries. When you close the door from the app, the control unit beeps very loudly and flashes for several seconds before, during and even a few seconds after closing. Presumably, this is to warn people to get out of the way as the door is closing and you can't turn it off.

I have to reconnect this product too often to my wifi. Having to go through to steps to reconnect to the wifi is not fun when it's 100 degrees outside and it's about 110 degrees inside your garage. I've had this product for less than 6 months and I had to reconnect it to my wifi 4 times already. DO NOT BUY.

Does not work with Google Home as advertised. Can't be too close to your opener or won't work. I mounted it nice right behind it only to get errors. When I called myq as the app instructed they said 5 to 6 ft away is best. Then myq offers 30 when you connect it to Amazon but the code you get no longer works. Product is advertised for things you get and what it can do but not true. I returned!

I bought and installed this on a weekend and by Wednesday it was opening the garage door whenever it wanted! I luckily got notified by my alarm system that my garage door opened...the MyQ app said the door was closed. I called a neighbor and the door was open!!!! Not happy at all. I un-installed it as soon as I got home.

I spent about 1 hour on two different occasions with Chamberlain's support staff. I could never get it to work with the garage door or WIFI at the same time. Going through the setup process, one of those would fail everytime. Chamberlain eventually used the cop-out of "must be poor wifi". I don't believe that since the router is only 1 wall away and about 25 feet.

I tried setting these up in many different ways for my Liftmaster (by Chamberlain). During setup, the hub detects the garage door opener and is able to open and close it once. But it tries to attempt connection for a second time and fails. Makes no sense to me. Online documentation is of no help. I tried a few things mentioned on forums but to no avail. I am definitely returning these.

Absolute garbage. Wont work when my phone is plugged into my car, will say the door is open when its closed, sometimes the reset doesnt work so I have to uninstall and reinstall, takes several tries for the door to open even when im right infront of the garage door. Luckily the new car I bought came with a door opener so I just stopped using this altogether, just sits on my door.

My Genie garage door shows compatible but this product does not pair

There are videos online that show how to install and set up the system. It's pretty easy - all you need is a drill to place a bracket on the ceiling of the garage close to the ceiling outlet that your opener is plugged into. Install and setup took me about 15 minutes. It works as advertised, allowing you to open and close your door remotely and at will and to set up custom alerts. These alerts are setup via the app. If you want extras, such as Apple HomeKit compatibility, Google Home integration or IFTTT integration, you are going to have to pay extra. All in all, I think this is the best option at $99 for Chamberlain/LiftMaster openers. I just think the paid extras should be included for free.
