I have used MyQ devices for a few years now and they are generally good products. I have installed wired MyQ gateways on multiple garages and they work really well. This devices allows you to use WiFi integration to remotely access your garage door versus older MyQ devices that were hardwired Ethernet based. Look: The device looks nice, won't be a real eyesore in the garage (it is a garage anyway). There are two boxes, one small to mount on the garage door itself, one larger to mount next to garage door opener. Setup: Pretty quick and straightforward. You have to create an account and then you can utilize the app for remote access. It must be noted that the main device requires a power outlet nearby. It will also require a strong enough WiFi connection to your router in the garage. I got everything up and running in about 30 minutes. App: The app is not very good. It looks old and outdated. Poor user interface and is not intuitive. The available features are slim. Chamberlain is really messing this part up since it is the main use of this device. It absolutely does what it is supposed to, it will open and close the garage door and let you know the status. It crashes/freezes more often than I'd like. On a positive note, you can load multiple garage doors on to one app so you can control multiple garages/homes from one location. This is really nice and does not require multiple accounts. Smart Home: This updated version has more smart home integration. This worked well for the most part with Alexa. It took a little effort getting set up, but has not had any issues since then. Miscellaneous: I hooked this device up to an older Chamberlain and newer LiftMaster garage door opener. Setup and control was good on both. It has the flexibility of working with most brands going back to 1993, nice to see that. Overall, the quality of the device and app (as well as their use) are not necessarily matched to this price point. If you are in the market for a new garage door opener, you can probably get it in a bundle for much cheaper than buying separate. If you are just looking to add remote access, I would explore other devices that can do the same OR the wired MyQ device. There is absolutely no difference in functionality between wired and wireless, it comes down to your ability to connect to ethernet, since the opener range is likely more than your WiFi connection. This gets a four star review because it does its job and the device itself is quality unlike the app.

This thing wont stay connected to the wifi so the app doesn't work because it says its not connected. Even called tech department and they sent me a new garage door opener to see if that was the problem. Worked for a day then went back to not staying connected.

Unfortunately this did not work with my garage door opener. The redeeming factor is that instructions for set up were great!

Mixed feelings on this product love to use it wherever I'm at but always loses signal to wifi

Was difficult to use. I just could not get it to work properly. I was excited to use it and had to return it to the store.

Unfortunately it keeps on disconnecting from the internet. Unable to use it too far from home

I was told this would work on any garage door opener made after x year. Not true

What a pin in the butt! I followed all of the instructions and the garage door opens only sometimes using the MYQ app. There is nothing that can compare with sitting in your car to open the garage door in the rain, and you have to log on every time. And if you don't get the server problem message the door still won't operate.

This was a good product at first. Then it needed to download which I can never get it to do so I’ve never been able to use the app again for my garage for my cell phone. Which is total bull! I think if you buy a product and it works you shouldn’t have to reboot and go online to jerk around with it!

Not all the MyQ logo'ed devices are compatible to this.

Does not perform as expected, unable to manage one garage door using technology.

This works great unless it gets disconnected from the internet. It then becomes very difficult to reconnect

Was not able to connect it to my garage opener and customer service was not to great.

Set up is difficult, and after 15 tries I still can’t control it with the app. Tech support was no help

Not the best app. And trying to use it with your smart home isn’t the greatest experience

I haven't try this because it requires strong wifi signal which i don't have.

Not very useful. Not compatible with latest version of genie.

Disconnects from Wifi every couple of hours, have to do a hard reset to make it work again.

I returned this as it didn’t work out for me. I am techno challenged!
