I've been commuting 65 miles each way to work for about 8 months and bought this little gem way at the beginning. It has saved me at least every week, sometimes nightly. I turned off the K band and the X band because law enforcement only uses the Ka band and Lasers (I've only encountered 1, they seem to use those on the service roads). and it really helps with false alerts. Ka=cop period. I usually get by first beep when they're about 1/4 mile out and just watch it, by 3 bars you really need to be at the speed limit and on alert, 5 bars you should see something. If the bars rise quickly they can be coming from the other side or just over a hill. Anyways, I have not yet gotten a ticket and I regularly fly at 80-85. Go for it, this product is money.

    Replaced a $300 Escort X80 with this

I had a Cobra that bricked itself and sat non stop from power on until power off at an annoying laser detection warning. I tossed it, and put back an older Cobra Vendetta, but was tired of the false alarms that one got. So I purchased the $300 Escort X80 and was nothing but disappointed, both in the app that's an annoying money grab with four or five "no thanks" prompts I have to click past to avoid upgrading to the paid premium junk before it would even link up, and then things it should do like be able to let me mark something as a false positive, it failed to do. The detector itself, a new model, had all the same failures my older Cobra models had with some of the stores I pass on the way to work. My car has the radar avoidance features as well as blind spot monitoring, so the Escort even went off as soon as I started my car in the garage, I assume it was receiving radar signals. I'd also get it to start warning me as I backed into the garage when I would park. VERY annoying for something over $300 so I returned it, and tried this. So far, not a single false positive in the normal places I've *always* had them with every other detector. It also doesn't go off when I'm in my garage, either coming home or leaving. So far each time it's gone off, I've been able to see the police car somewhere ahead as I eventually passed it. Volume is annoyingly loud if you set it so, necessary if you have windows open and lots of wind noise, or loud music. Easy to read display as well. Not sure how it will do longer term, but so far in the short time I've had it, it's proven far better than any other one I've had simply by ignoring all the spots my old ones used to go off...

Just bought an updated iRad 480 for my girlfriend. It is terrible compared to my Rad450. Yeah, you can get alerts from other people on the "network".....you also get their false alerts too. The new one goes off at automatic doors, etc.....not the old Rad450. I am now looking to buy another Rad450 and return the new, "updated" one. I think they packed more tech in the 450 for the price than they intended, hence they quit making them.

I have had this device over 5 months now and road trip though 7 states and each time I was warn of police ahead. This low price device is exceptional. Good distance to let you know if police are coming or hiding. It has warned me every time so far. My local police is like butter and bread. I can pick them up all the time. My wife says I don't see them. Then here they come driving by or sitting on the side.

I decided to get this to replace my old one the was going off with nearly every new car on the road. Set up was easy. Nice thing is that it shows the frequency the RADAR is using. It will still go off around automatic doors, but no longer around cars that have IVT. I get plenty of warning before I see the source. I liked it so well, I also bought on for my wife's vehicle.

Radar detector is good for the price. The screen is very easy to see and does not get washed out in sunlight. Speaker is loud enough if radio isn't turned uo to loud. Downside is on K band there are a lot of false alerts

I was in my Best Buy store reading reviews online about this radar detector and decided to buy it, well it was trash. You will pass the cop before it alerts you. I took it back the next day and got the escort x80 and so far I love it, it does exactly what I want it to. So don’t waste your money on this just go on and spend a little more and get a better one.
