Great headphones with lots of connectivity options. Came in a small box, included are the headphones, a USB wireless dongle and a Type C USB charging cable.
The headphones themselves can work on a PC or an Xbox mainly (box says can work on other systems too). I'm mainly using them on my Xbox Series X, however I highly recommend to plug them in a PC at least once, if you have one. Because their Corsair iCue software will detect them and update any firmware (fixes bugs, gives new features). Mine did have a firmware update on the PC. It was fast to update the dongle firmware, but the headphones firmware took almost 10 minutes (had to plug them directly via USB cable to the PC). Once updated they can be used on a computer, however there are some caveats: 1- the game to chat volume level feature does not work on PC, 2- they don't have their "soundID" feature that the regular PC version of these have.
They are mainly for the Xbox and they work great there. You double press the power button and the LED light should change (white for PC mode, green for Xbox mode). On the Xbox they do support game/chat level feature (where you can turn down or up the volume of your party chat, separated from the game volume, lets say if your friends are shouting and you can't hear well the game you are playing). They also come with a Dolby atmos license so you can use spatial audio (on the PC, it disables the option to use the EQ on iCue, you must use the one in the Atmos windows app).
Comfort is great, the ear pads are made of a type of velour material, they are breathable. They can get hot naturally, however they are not sweaty like a leather type one. I use glasses and they were comfy too. The adjustment system is clever, there is a strap on top that you can undo via Velcro straps and that decides how tight you want them on your head. I love the mic, as it flips up and down. When up, it mutes the mic and a red light glows on the mic tip. If down, mic works and there is a white light (the light isn't obtrusive at all, but if you want you can turn it off on their iCue PC app). Battery life has been outstanding. It lasts forever I have only needed to charge them during the weekend after a 3 day gaming session. With a flat EQ, noticed the sound is on the warmer side, and bass was good but not overwhelming. Mids and trebble were good too. They are closed back type headphones.
They are really good for Xbox gaming (pc too) and super comfy, if you are looking for great build quality, outstanding battery life and good sound, these are the wireless headphones you need!

Corsair HS80 MAX V2 Wireless Headset (2025)
I recently picked up the Corsair HS80 MAX V2 Wireless Headset, and it’s honestly one of the best audio experiences I’ve had. If you care about premium sound, comfort, and versatility, this headset checks all the boxes.
Unboxing Experience:
The packaging is clean and intuitive. Inside, you’ll find the headset and wireless dongle right on top. Lift the flap underneath to reveal a braided USB-C to USB-A charging cable and a few extras. Everything feels thoughtfully arranged.
Setup & Connectivity:
Setup was a breeze. Plug the dongle into your PC, Mac, PlayStation, or Xbox One, tap the power button on the left ear cup, and you're connected. Xbox One pairing takes a bit more patience—double-press the power button to enter Xbox Mode, and give it a few tries if it doesn’t connect immediately.
Dual Device Power:
One of my favorite features is dual connectivity. You can use 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth at the same time, which is perfect for multitasking between gaming and calls or music. Bluetooth pairing is simple—just hold the power button for four seconds.
Battery Life:
With RGB lighting turned off, this headset delivers up to 65 hours of battery life on 2.4GHz wireless. That’s nearly three full days of use between charges—perfect for long gaming sessions or travel.
Sound Quality:
The audio is simply stunning. Deep, rumbling lows, rich mids, and crisp highs make everything from games to music sound vibrant and immersive. It’s easily one of the cleanest sound profiles I’ve experienced in a wireless headset.
Pros:
Exceptional sound quality with rich bass and crisp highs
Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio
RGB Lighting
Dual connectivity (2.4GHz wireless + Bluetooth) for multitasking
Up to 65 hours of battery life with RGB off
Premium build that’s lightweight and durable
Easy setup across multiple platforms (PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox)
Braided USB-C cable included for fast charging
Cons:
Xbox One pairing can be finicky and may require multiple attempts
RGB lighting can reduce battery life significantly
No carrying case included in the box
Final Verdict:
The Corsair HS80 MAX V2 is a powerhouse headset that blends style, stamina, and superb sound. If you're serious about audio and want a headset that keeps up with your lifestyle, this one’s a winner.

The Corsair HS80 Max Wireless is the latest in the Corsair HS series attempting to combine premium audio with gaming sound performance. This year's version has added significant life to the battery, Bluetooth connectivity, and Xbox support. It gives you Dolby Atmos audio, a broadcast quality microphone, and aims to deliver comfort for your marathon gaming sessions. Let's see how it does.
- Design, Build, and Unboxing -
The HS80 Max comes in a steel gray color with large angular earcups, a floating headband, and memory foam pads with a breathable fabric to keep your ears cool. There's a hard plastic shell that feels solid and durable but middle of the line in terms of build quality. It's more than suitable for gaming daily. The box comes with the essentials: Headphones, a Wireless USB-A Dongle, USB-A to USB-C cable, and a warranty & quick start guide. There's also a card with a QR code. The packaging is simple, eco-friendly and minimalistic. The HS80 Max headphones swivel left to right and there is a second elastic headband (it can be adjusted easily with a unique, but premium Velcro attachment on the inside of the band.) Once I adjusted the inner headband I felt instant relief, out of the box they were a little tight. Once adjusted the inner headband feels great and makes the headphones feel more secure. There aren't really any flashy LEDs or gamer aesthetics (a slight Corsair logo in RGB but that's it), just a nice subtle, dark matte gray. On the left side there's a foldup to mute mic that will show a red LED when muted.
- Specs & Features -
The Corsair HS80 Max headphones have surround sound, Dolby Atmos (needs to be activated), and Windows Sonic support for Xbox. It can operate in dual wireless mode, 2.4GHz with the dongle and works up to 50 feet. I was able to walk all through the 2nd floor of my house without losing connection. It also has Bluetooth, you can toggle between both, or better yet on the Xbox you can run both. So if you want to jump on your phone and hear the game at the same time, on the Xbox you're good. (BTW Most platforms make you switch) There's a flip down microphone that's very clear. It isn't detachable.
Battery Life - The battery life is what has dramatically improved here for the HS series. It will give you 65 hours for wireless and significantly more for Bluetooth. You can quick charge for 15 minutes and get another 5 or 6 hours of gameplay which is great if you're grinding through a game.
Controls - There's a power button, volume wheel which also functions as an EQ if you press it, and a Bluetooth button which can switch between wireless and Bluetooth with a quick press.
- Comfort -
Adjust the inner headband to fit your head and these are very comfortable. They don't feel heavy and the earcups feel cool and comfortable on your head. My son wears glasses and he had no issues with fit either, his glasses stayed put. I wonder about the long term durability of the elastic inner headband and the Velcro, but kids can destroy just about anything so we'll see. Note: There are replacements available on the Corsair website for the headband and earcups if necessary. After long gaming sessions I always feel a little bit of weight on the top of my head, but these felt pretty light, and also remained fairly cool, no heat on the ears.
- Performance -
These headphones definitely deliver a bass rich profile out of the box which is great for gaming. I did have to adjust the EQ to get the highs dialed in for better positional sound. Gaming is where these headphones really shined. Positional sound was great in Fortnite, Red Dead, and Overwatch 2. It's not the best I've heard but it's close enough. I'm listening for footsteps and position of shots around me. It's definitely adequate for competitive gaming. Regarding Movies, in my opinion, with its bass heavy delivery it works best for Action and Adventure movies. Dialogue is okay, and I had to dial up the mids and highs a bit in the EQ. Dolby Atmos sounds incredible on the headphones (make sure you use the card to activate.) On the downside there is some sound leakage when cranking up the volume, so if there's someone nearby, they're going to hear it. There's also no ANC, but that's typical at this price point. The Mic on the HS80 Max is one of the best I've utilized. My voice came through loud, crisp, clear, and natural sounding. It also seemed to do a pretty good job of blocking out my loud family in the background :) I had no problem with disconnects or stability. Battery life is what I've stated before, exceptional at 65 hours. Downside is if you do need to replace the battery it is not replaceable but that shouldn't happen for several years. If you want to maximize battery life, turn the LEDs off.
The Corsair HS80 Max Wireless is finally native on the Xbox Series X/S.. The battery lasted all week for me and is a major upgrade from the last version. These headphones have a solid mic, great sound once dialed in, great battery life, and consistent connectivity. The design is very subtle which also makes them easy to travel with. Another solid performer from Corsair, I recommend them.
*Pros*
* Excellent Battery Life
* Mic Quality is top tier
* Comfortable
* Dolby Atmos
* Dual connectivity
*Suggestions/Needs Improvement*
* Detachable mic would be nice
* Inner headband is a love/hate accessory (personally I liked it)

I have been using the Corsair HS80 MAX v2 Xbox Headset for about five days now, and I can confidently say that this headset is exceptional. The sound quality is crisp, clear, and incredibly detailed, with absolutely no lag. Connecting it to both my Xbox and PC was a breeze, and I love that I can use the same headset for both platforms. The microphone is outstanding; it picks up my voice perfectly, making communication seamless and clear.
The wireless performance has been outstanding. With low-latency 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth, I get rock-solid connections. Additionally, the sound fidelity is unmatched, delivering high-quality audio that feels like a significant step up compared to other headsets I have used. This headset makes every in-game sound pop, from subtle footsteps to booming explosions. And when I use Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio on PC, it feels like the game surrounds me, giving me an edge in competitive play.
The battery life is another area where this headset shines. I have gone through long sessions and days of gaming without worrying about recharging. The comfort is just as impressive, with memory foam ear pads and a breathable fabric design that make it easy to wear for hours, and the floating headband feels light and stress-free.
Overall, the Corsair HS80 MAX v2 is everything I could want in a gaming headset with premium comfort, seamless connectivity, extended battery life, and exceptional sound quality. It has completely elevated my gaming and communication experience.

I’ve been wanting a really good headset for my Xbox Series X, and a headset that is compatible with multiple devices. Currently, I have several headsets based on the devices I use. I wanted to eliminate having to use multiple headsets and have one headset that fits all my needs. Enter the HS80 Max wireless for Xbox. I have the Steel Gray version to test and review.
Look and design.
The HS80 Max wireless for Xbox design is top notch. Comfort alone is the biggest draw for me. I was able to game and use the headset for work over 8 continuous hours. I did not experience any ear fatigue, or headaches like I do when I use my other headsets. The padded suspended band is a nice touch and assists with weight distribution of the headset. Corsair went with a cloth style material for the ear pads that provides much better comfort over the leatherette style ear pads. I would also think these ear pads should last much longer due to their design. The metal hinges help to reduce stress on the top band when the headset is removed. The mic arm is a flip to mute and unmute style. RGB lighting is an added flair option. I couldn’t locate a way to turn off the RGB lighting. I had to use a workaround by changing the lighting style to static and updating the color to black to turn off the lighting. I much rather have the extended battery life.
Features and audio quality
Using the HS80 Max wireless for Xbox requires the USB dongle to be connected to an open USB port on the Xbox. I wasn’t sure if the RF functionality was built into the headset without the need of the dongle. I can confirm that it needs the dongle. I would also recommend connecting to a PC and downloading the iCUE software. I’ve had 2 firmware updates so far which added better mic quality and seems like it has increased the volume of the headset.
Dolby Atmos for headphones brings in a better sounding profile, but keep in mind it will need to be deactivated in order to update the equalizer settings in the iCUE app. I spent a lot of time learning this the hard way, so this may save someone some time.
In order to update the firmware, a USB cable must be connected to the headset for updating. I’m really bummed to find out that the HS80 Max wireless cannot be used as a wired headset. While wired to my PC, it can only charge the headset and requires the USB dongle to transmit wirelessly. The Bluetooth functionality work consistently as well. The HS80 Max has the ability to connect to both 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth to play media simultaneously. This is useful when paired to your phone and Xbox console or PC. The drivers are huge and delivers a good amount of bass. Most times I have to turn down the volume or adjust the equalizer’s bass response while gaming. Music also sounds really good. There is also an audio feedback option that informs the user of the headset status. You have the ability to disable this in the iCUE settings.
Overall thoughts
I’ve been gaming and working from home for a week without having to charge the HS80 Max for Xbox. It’s virtually plug and play. The Xbox recognizes the headset when connected and gives me the battery status when pressing the Xbox button on the controller. I had no cut-outs or severe latency while connected to both my PC and Xbox Series X.
I would recommend installing the USB dongle in the front of the Xbox to get a better connection. This is one of my favorite headsets and Corsair did a lot of things right with this one. Only things I would like to see on the next iteration is having a wired USB mode without the need of the USB dongle. Also, the ability to just hit a button to deactivate the RGB lighting. Minus those two minor inconveniences, this is a winner in my book.

This is honestly one of the best gaming headsets I have experienced so far. Corsair HS80 Max is definitely a premium wireless RGB gaming headset, let me share why I find it a really useful for me.
1. One thing I always look for in gaming headsets is Comfort, comfortable wear is very important to me due to lengthy game play. There is nothing more frustrating when you are in the middle of a game and you need to adjust your headset or take a break from wearing an uncomfortable set. This Corsair HS80 Max meets all of my requirements and makes my game play a joy. It sits nicely on my head, the foam cups are also nice and fit any ear without any issues (all my family members tried it and never complained about it). There is a nice strap that adapts to your head as well - a nice addition for these headphones.
2. Compatibility. I have tried this Corsair premium headset on my Xbox, Playstation 5 as well as my gaming PC and it works amazingly well on all consoles.
3. Audio Quality. You get great balanced audio and clear chat during game play. The set comes with a USB dongle that simultaneously connects with low-latency 2.4GHz wireless band and the good ole Bluetooth (smart idea in my view). If you are game supports Dolby Atmos, definitely take advantage of this audio codec as this gaming headset makes you literally immerse into the game play thanks to its three-dimensional sound. Spatial audio is not a gimmick and if you experienced it before, you would know what I am talking about here.
4. Longevity. I was pretty surprised how long this Corsair headset lasts me! Easy charge with the supplied USB-C cable (Corsair supplied a nice braided cable by the way, so it will last you long as well). The headset's battery will last you even longer if you turn off RGB lighting, which is just for looks really and you cannot really see it anyways.
All in all, this is absolutely a must have gaming headset, which is affordable and actually does what it says. Try it for yourself and thank me later.

The Corsair HS80 Max V2 is a nice gaming headset. As soon as I heard my game coming in, I can sense a difference in quality. I loaded up Black Myth: Wukong. There were things in the background I started hearing that I never realized before. There were crows or birds as part of the background. I did not realize they made noises. Also, with headphones, I can feel getting hit more because of what I am hearing. It supports Dolby Atmos.
I connected it to my XBox One using the included USB adapter. I played about 12 feet away and signal works well. No issues with signal loss or quality. There is an audible indicator when you lift the microphone up and down. There is also an audbile indicator when it loses connection to the USB adapter. I know when I unplug the USB.
Next I connected it to my PC. I did not bother using the Bluetooth because the included USB adapter is very convenient. Windows detected it automatically. It detects it as “Xbox Controller Headset Microphone”.
Hold down the Bluetooth button to enable or pair it. There is a power button as well and volume dial. I could not figure out how to increase or decrease the gain of the input on the headset. But I can adjust it on the Windows settings.
The headset is comfortable. The headphone part has a soft foam. My ears did start to get warm within 30 minutes.
This headset is rechargeable and comes with a USB-A to USB-C cable. The tips are not removable even though it does look like it so do not force to remove it. The cables are braided and I am glad more and more cables come this way.
There are Corsair logos on each side and lights up with different colors.
I like these headphones. They are overall comfortable on my head. I just get warm around my ears after 30 minutes.

When it comes to gaming, one of the factors that makes the experience more satisfying and enjoyable is sound. Currently, many games require you to pay attention to every detail in order to win or advance to the next level. These Corsair HS80 max gaming headphones for Xbox are a great ally in this task.
The box includes the headphones, the charging cable, and a wireless USB transmitter. Installation is simple. You can connect them via Bluetooth or by connecting the 2.4GHz wireless transmitter directly to your Xbox or PC. It is recommended to update the firmware for both the headset and the wireless transmitter using the Corsair iCue software. Simply connect them directly with the cable and follow the steps in the application. Once the update is complete, they will be ready to use.
The HS80 max headphones feature a minimalist design that is both elegant and classic, and come in a dark gray color that looks quite good. The foam ear pads are very comfortable, even when wearing glasses. The right ear cup has only the Bluetooth multifunction button, while the left ear cup has the power button, volume dial, USB-C port, and flip-up microphone. There are RGB LED lights on both sides (in the brand logo), and there is also an LED indicator light at one end of the microphone that changes when the microphone is active or muted, which is a nice touch. The headband has an adjustable floating elastic band that is also comfortable.
In terms of performance, I can say that, after updating the firmware, these gaming headphones have sufficiently loud and clear sound. You can hear every detail in games, every movement and sound effect. They also have different equalizer presets that can be accessed by pressing the volume dial, although it is also possible to make adjustments in the iCue application to customize them to your liking. The microphone responds quite well, the sound is clear without distortion, and it can be adjusted to move it closer or further away from the mouth as needed. The fact that it is foldable and mutes when raised is a very useful feature. After several hours of gaming, I haven't experienced any discomfort; these headphones are really comfortable. One of the strengths of this device is its battery life. It has a long-lasting battery, and I've been using this device for several days and haven't had to charge it yet.
In conclusion, I would say that these Corsair HS80 Max gaming headphones for Xbox are very well balanced in different aspects, including design, size, battery life, comfort, software support, practicality of use, performance, and of course price. You get what you pay for and a little more. It is a product that offers good value for money, and I can definitely recommend it.

A minor update from HS80 Max v1 with XBox branding

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Corsair's HS80 Max v2 as far as I can tell is virtually identical to the v1, other than adding XBox branding and support. There may have been some improvements to the audio quality, but I don't own the v1 so I can't compare to them.
The trend I've seen with PC Gaming peripherals has been a big increase in price without a big increase in quality. Before you'd see peripherals in the $100-150 range for most midrange products, followed by the premium $250+ segment. Now it feels like the mid range is $175-200 and the premium segment is $300+. This is kind of a scary trend because previously, you could often score the midrange products on sale for $100 or less, and now the sales tend to hover around $150. I guess that is inflation for you.
The HS80 MAX build quality is pretty solid all things considered, I'm just used to the headphones in this range behing all metal or having some kind of muxer/input/output amp for this price range. It is an interesting design and material choice and here's what caught my attention:
1. The ear cups are circumaural and cover your entire ear, they are not large and can be uncomfortable if they pinch your ears over longer gaming sessions. I did feel some pressure on the back of my ears but adjusting them helped somewhat. The ear cups are also micro fiber felt covered with memory foam underneath, which I like as they tend not to get sweaty or clammy over longer gaming sessions or during the warmer months.
2. The HS80 Max is not heavy nor light. Lighter than most gaming headsets with a smaller side to side profile (cups are not flaring out), but heavier and bulkier than the mobile headphones you might use for music or travel. This is pretty normal for gaming headsets but I wonder if some company will try and bridge this gap someday.
3. There are some metal accents on a mostly plastic and build, but overall the headset looks good and not overly flashy, which means you could easily use it for work without drawing the attention of co-workers or customers. RGB support and integration is limited with just the Corsair logo featuring RGB. The headband has limited adjustment, and you can't actually physically extend the headband or extend/retract the ear cups. Instead, you can adjust the elastic support by undoing the velcro and giving it more slack, then reattaching the velcro. Still, you are limited by the total size of the headband which cannot adjust further and will rest on your head at max adjustment on the velcro. This can definitely lead to comfort issues for those with larger heads, especially if you also have ears that hit the inside walls of the ear cups. I wear size 7 3/4 in a baseball cap and this headset is borderline comfortable/uncomfortable for me.
4. Excellent design and functionality. There's just a power button and volume dial on the left ear and the usb-c power input and then on the right ear there is only 1 button, the Bluetooth/MultiFunctionButton. The MFG controls play/pause, taking a call, skipping a track, and pairing with different lengths of holds and press frequency. This is pretty standard for any bluetooth headset. One negative is how big the dongle is, it really sticks out the front USB of my XBox One X and makes it look kind of odd. Volume and chat integrated seamlessly with the XBox controller.
5. Bluetooth. Oh right, I forgot to mention, this headset like many of Corsair's gaming products also supports Bluetooth, which is a GREAT feature that also allows you to use their wireless products with your work laptop seamlessly and without need of a KVM. Just swap them over and connect via BT and you good to go.
6. Sound Quality. With the RF dongle, you're getting the best audio quality with Dolby Atmos support on the XBox One. On the PC, the dongle also unlocks Dolby Atmos by licensing it in Dolby Access, which is a very cool feature. The audio quality in games for positional sound on the XBox was fantastic with Dolby Atmos and also sounds great for any Blu-Ray movies you wathc through your XBox. Overall however, I found the sound profile to be overly muffled and bass heavy and somewhat of a disappointment. The Bluetooth was even worse as sound was very compressed and modulated. Definitely do not use BT for gaming if you can help it, I sounded OK for work Teams calls but I'm not sure it sounds better than my noise cancelling ear buds.
7. Not Noise Cancelling. These are not noise cancelling headsets, which is a good thing actually for gaming headsets at home. They are covered metal ear cups but the foam and cloth allow ambient sound in pretty clearly, so these are not something you will want to bring on a flight expecting them to block out cabin noise. I guess this is also the major feature that prevents a crossover between the premium wireless headsets and these gaming headsets.
These are a nice pair of gaming headsets but I don't think they distinguish themselves from the crowd other than Dolby Atmos for gaming. These should be great for upcoming shooters like COD and BF6 and they definitely amplify the sounds of footsteps and gunfire.
Maybe Corsair could add some charging stand or cradle to jazz them up a little bit but these are a good choice if you're already in the Corsair ecosystem and already have iCue installed.

My initial opinion differs drastically from my final opinion. Originally the comfort of these headphones was not good. They were extremely tight out of the box and no clear way to adjust. After some fiddling and going through Corsairs site, I figured out there is an adjustment under the band. See the picture attached for where to adjust the head strap. The adjustment is on both sides and held in place by a Velcro fastener. Simply lift the fastener and tighten or loosen. I had to loosen quite a bit. They originally felt like my brains were going to squeeze out.
After the comfort adjustment, they are light as can be. The weight is evenly distributed, so wearing these for an extended session should not be an issue. Air flow under the cups could be better, but the noise dampening would be lost at that point.
The mic arm is perfectly sized and placed for optimal reception of voice and sight lines. I have pretty good peripheral vision, and it is not a distraction for me.
The mic gives a great reproduction of my voice. This was tested on my PC with a voice recorder so I could hear the results.
Speaking of PC, definitely load up iCue and make sure your firmware is updated.
Audio is spectacular. You can hear not only the game but the direction it is coming from, kind of a 3D audio effect. Oddly this did not work in all games until I did the said firmware check. Also using the dongle you can chat through your PC while being connected to the console.
The mic is possibly better than my desk mic. I have also used this with my work PC for meetings, it is great for that as well. All controls are on the headphones and easily accessed in game or meeting.
Overall, these are comfortable, with great sound and an excellent mic. Highly recommended and very comfortable.

I can't seem to get it to connect to my Series X, One X or a borrowed Series X. I just hope it is user error on my end or maybe it isn't supported just yet....hopefully.
For real though, the Corsair HS80 MAX shows it is made for Xbox but also works for other devices. My review is based on that.
Corsair is well known in the PC universe and headsets are pretty up there when it comes to quality, performance and price. I use the Virtuoso XT on one of my PC builds and absolutely love it.
In the box is the headset, USB C charging cable and dongle. There is a QR code to send you to the instruction manual if you need help pairing or downloading the iCue software if you want to unlock it to it's full potential if using it for PC.
Pairing is easy as falling down. Plug and play. Sorta. For some reason, I cannot get my Xbox to recognize the headset at all.
Troubleshooting steps I took. Tried every single USB slot on the X, cleared Xbox cache, used another Xbox (Series X and One X) and lastly a full system reset. Nada. You can see in the pic the dongle and headset pair right up seamlessly and instantaneously. No options in the system shows headset is connected even if I change all sound to just go through headphones.
Ironically, when I used it on my PS5, it paired with 0 issues and it shows up as Corsair HS80 MAX (for XBOX) lol. I will admit I laughed for a little bit when I saw it. It also paired right up when using it for PC.
If you know how I can correct this, please let me know!
Sound and performance are excellent. Crisp clear sound when gaming on my other consoles and with no lag. Teammates said they hear me fine with no static or distortions. In game sound has 0 latency and the surround sound is great when I used it with ATMOS settings.
I even used the blue tooth option and paired it with my phone so I can listen to music when I was just chilling in bed or on the couch.
Comfort is good. No matter how small or big your head is, the elastic band conforms to your shape to hold the headset perfectly in place. I had no issues or discomfort/pain when wearing the HS80 during hours of gameplay, but my ears did get warm and noticeable around the 2 hours mark. Again that is for me personally and could differ with you.
All in all, it is a great pair of headphones, but I just hope I can use it for it's intended purposes.

My biggest problem with the Corsair HS80 Max is the inconsistency with the wireless connectivity resulting in needing to pair it again; and the ridiculously big connector on the USB-C cable where it plugs into the headset. Both can be annoying and lessen the gaming experience at times.
Regardless, the over-the-ear headphones are pretty well made and with cloth instead of that horrid plastic vinyl material a lot of ear cuffs are padded with. They’re very comfortable wearing for an hour or so of gaming. Longer and they started to feel a little weighty and uncomfortable to me.
The audio quality is good without syncing it in Corsair’s iCUE software, but it really sounds great if you take the time to set up its SoundID within the software. Will it blow your socks off? No, but it is most definitely a higher quality sound experience, and it does have Dolby Atmos, which I am a favorite of. And as for the mic, voice clarity is crystal clear with no issues being heard and has been great for not just gaming, but for meetings.
Overall, the HS80 Max has great battery life and is a good sounding, if periodically annoying, headset that can be ideal and more comfortable for the light or more casual gamer.

Great audio and mic quality, and battery life included. The only thing i wish you could do is independently change the audio and voice chat volume like you can on the Astro’s and other headsets.

I honestly can’t say enough good things about these headphones after using them for a few weeks now. If these ever go on sale, grab them!
One other caveat though is when you’re updating these headphones, USE THE PROVIDED USB-C CABLE and it’ll work properly on the ICue software.

Corsair has another headset to add to their line with the HS80 MAX headset. It’s designed for Xbox, but can also work with other systems/devices.
The HS80 has a standard headband with the two ear pieces connected to it, however it also has a headband strap that is between both sides of the primary headband. It has a little padding on it and it will stretch to accommodate most people. The strap, even though it may look unconventional, helps to make wearing the headset for long periods of time comfortable. They are lightweight so it didn’t cause any problems with the long gaming sessions I had. When I was done playing after about 6 hours one session and 5 another, I didn’t feel like the headset was uncomfortable.
Battery
The battery life is really good. I charged them when I received them and haven’t had to charge them again. I have many hours of gameplay with them and a few hours of listening to music with them connected to my iPad. Battery life has been good so far.
Features
The HS80 MAX will auto shutoff if they aren’t being used for a period of time. This helps me as sometimes I forget to turn off headsets. The headband/strap design, as mentioned above, does make the headset comfortable to wear. The headset also support Dolby Atmos. The audio sounds great when I was playing Diablo IV. It makes the gameplay more immersive which, for RPG games, makes them much more enjoyable to play. Game developers put a lot of money and time into the audio for them with ambient sounds and music. The HS80 Max allows me to fully experience that. There is lighting to indicate various things with the headset. For instance, there is a light ring around the mic which can indicate unmuted vs muted. White light for unmuted and red for muted. The boom arm is made so that I can customize it’s position for optimal placement of the mic. It’s not just up/down adjustment. I can adjusted it outward or inward to suit my needs and that inward/outward adjustment will hold even when moving the boom up to mute the mic and when moving it downward to unmute and continue using the mic. On each earpiece, there is an led light that lights up the Corsair logo. There is also a power indicator light near the volume up/down dial. The volume up/down is changed by way of a dial on the back of the left earpiece. It was easy for me to find it while wearing the headset. There is also the power button on the back of the left earpiece just above the volume dial. Both are easy to find by feel without have to fumble around to try and find them. On the back of the right earpiece is the Bluetooth button.
Bluetooth/Wireless Module
Corsair designed the HS80 MAX to work with the XBox, but they have also added Bluetooth to them. I’m able to use the wireless USB module that comes with them to plug into the USB port on the back of my XBox. That worked well and I didn’t have any connectivity issues throughout hours of gameplay. Since it also has Bluetooth, I was able to connect the headset to my iPad to listen to music. I can also connect the headset to my PC and Switch. I’m happy to see that Corsair added Bluetooth capability to the HS80 Max. They are much more versatile because of it.
Final Thoughts
I really like what Corsair has decided to do with connectivity with the HS80 Max. Since they can be connected to more than just the XBox, I get more use out of them. That coupled with the long battery life (up to 65hrs according to Corsair), I can listen to music and can game for a long time before having to recharge them with the provided USB-C to USB-C cable. The support for Dolby Atomos Spatial audio is also a good feature. Overall, I’m happy with the HS80 Max headset and I’m looking forward to see what Corsair does in this line in the future.

From the moment I unboxed the Corsair HS80 MAX, the premium quality stood out immediately. The packaging is clean and practical, including a USB dongle for Xbox connection and a USB-C to USB-A cable for both connectivity and charging. It feels like Corsair thought ahead for gamers who want straightforward setup without having to dig for extra accessories. After first connection and updating the dongle and headset for Xbox, connection was flawless. Using the headset with PC via Bluetooth was a very quick and easy connection with no issues.
The headset itself carries a little more weight than most gaming headsets, but in this case, it feels intentional in a way that reassures you of the build quality and depth of the frequency response. The headband is built sturdy and reinforced with a comfort support band to most likely prevent “head dent,” something any hardcore gamer knows all too well and yes it is a real thing. It sits snug without clamping too hard, making it easy to settle in for long sessions.
The ear cups are another highlight. They’re very comfortable and, surprisingly, don’t trap much heat even after extended use, something many gaming headsets struggle with. The drop down mic is responsive, capturing voice clearly with little need for adjustment. It sits at a perfect at an angle that doesn’t cut into your peripheral vision and functionally it performs great.
Corsair also added some subtle RGB branding on the ear cups. While you won’t see the logo lighting when wearing the headset, it adds a sleek look if you’re streaming or keeping your setup visually sharp.
Audio performance is where the HS80 MAX really flexes. The sound range covers the full spectrum of human hearing from 20Hz to 20,000Hz, and it does so with clarity. Low end bass hits with depth without overwhelming mids or highs, and I found myself picking up the smallest details in game like footsteps or environmental cues which gave me a real advantage in stealth heavy gameplay.
Despite the extra weight, comfort surprised me the most. I expected fatigue after long sessions, but I was able to game for hours without any discomfort. The battery life is equally impressive. Corsair rates it at up to 65 hours, and after several days of long play sessions, I still had around 30% left before needing a charge. That’s a huge win compared to most wireless headsets I’ve used.
At this point, the HS80 MAX has quickly made its way into my top picks for gaming headsets. Between the premium feel, excellent audio, and long-lasting comfort, it’s a headset that feels just as at home on Xbox as it does on PC.
Pros
Premium build quality with sturdy headband and comfort support band
Comfortable ear cups with minimal heat buildup
Crisp, clear mic performance
Strong audio clarity across full frequency range (20Hz–20kHz)
Subtle, stylish RGB accents
Long-lasting battery life (up to 65 hours, real-world tested close to spec)
Great for both Xbox and PC gaming
Cons
Slightly heavier than average headset (though adds to premium feel)
RGB lighting can’t be appreciated while wearing

I really like this headset. Currently, I think it's my favorite headset, in fact. It's very comfortable, and I can wear it for a really long time. The sound quality is pretty good - the actual speakers themselves are pretty great and have a nice range, and I do appreciate that the headset works with Dolby Atmos. The battery life is enough to get me through a few days of gaming without taking any particular care to conserve charge, and I am very glad that I can wear them while charging without them trying to shut down on me. They do charge fairly quickly - they can be at full before I'm done with a gaming session. They look really pretty. The gunmetal grey looks almost classy. They also feel solid to the touch.
They're super versatile, as well. They're made for Xbox, but they also work just fine if you plug them into a computer (the dongle even has a visual indicator on it to show you if you're in Xbox mode or not) and they work with Bluetooth as well. They do do simultaneous audio - I've always found this super niche and not something I tend to use on a regular basis, but it is *definitely* a nice to have, especially when I actually want to use it. The only thing they're missing is an AUX jack. Across all of the existing connection methods, I currently have yet to have any real issues. The range is actually really decent - I can head to another floor in my house without the quality degrading.
My one issue with this headset is the microphone. Funnily enough, the microphone itself is fantastic - after numerous voice calls and testing with other headsets I own, I have discovered that this onboard microphone is consistently rated by people I call as the clearest microphone. This is nice, because having to stop and make constant adjustments to the microphone really takes me out of the game. I also like the fact that rather than pressing a button, you can just flip the microphone up to mute it and bring it back down to unmute. The problem is, sometimes it gets stuck - I've had an issue that seems to be independent of any platform I'm using this headset with in which the headset doesn't properly register that I've moved the microphone down to unmute it. I then end up having to flip it back and forth several times to get it to register. This only happens when moving the microphone down, however - it's never failed to register a "mute" by flipping it up. This is kind of annoying to deal with, to be honest, and is hands down the biggest stain on what's otherwise been the perfect headset for me.
Overall, I would recommend this headset. However, I would advise keeping that possible issue with the microphone arm in mind.

I have a lot of Corsair stuff... keyboards, mice, headsets and a slew of PC components from memory to AIO to cases.
Out of the box these are really easy to setup and you will be up and running in minutes. Powered by Dolby ATMOS the HS80 gives you an amazing 3D experience, especially if you use the Dolby Access app where you can set your listening settings from preloaded game, movie, music, voice or the ability to set up to 3 personal custom settings via a slide equalizer.
Connectivity is simple enough with either Bluetooth or with the provided low latency 2.4GHz dongle. I tested these on both a PC and Xbox Series S with absolutely no issues. I play most of my AAA games on a PC platform but I love Forza and Madden on the Xbox, among other titles. Sorry... I'm an old keyboard and mouse gamer but I love controllers for sports games and driving sims, plus I have a racing wheel and pedals setup, sorry Corsair, not the Fanatec, but still a respectable brand with a folding mounting sled with seat. Having a wireless headset if great, especially with the surround sound effects you get with the HS80.
On headset controls are simple. You have only a power button and volume dial on the left and Bluetooth button on the right.
I appreciate the flip up mic boom rather than static booms. Static booms typically will have a mute button on the headset or inline on the cord, with cordless it's a bit cumbersome to have to tap a button on the headset, or maybe you have a dedicated key on your keyboard to mute. With the HS80 a simple flip up on the boom gets you muted, my preferred method.
The earcup padding is soft fabric and the supple padding is very comfortable, even for extended playing. The adjustable band is different than most with the floating pad affixed by two strips of Velcro on either side. Honestly better padding attached to the bridge with sliding earcups would be much more preferable for me. I find the top padding isn't enough since my head is a bit larger than most.
There is some subtle RGB lighting that works with Corsair's ICUE software so if you are invested in the Corsair ecosystem then these will fit right in.
A few things I haven't been able to test out is the advertised 60ft wireless range or 20 hour battery life since I don't have the room for a 60ft test and I don't time my gaming sessions so the 20 hour battery life is great but I typically just charge it once a week on the weekend.
Besides the padding falling short for me these are truly wireless only. The included USB cable is for charging only. I would have loved to see this as dual purpose charging and audio if nothing else if I do let the battery run out I would be able to play with them plugged in but that's not the case.

These headphones sound amazing. You do need to follow the correct pairing procedure to ensure the Corsair HS80 Max v2 for Xbox is in Xbox mode. It is simple: put the included dongle in an Xbox USB port and press the sync button on the Xbox. The dongle will be white if not in Xbox mode, just double tap the power button on the headphones and the dongle will turn green and you’ll be connected (you’ll also see a ‘Headphone Assigned’ message on your display). I did notice that once it is all sync’d up, for the next time you power up, the Xbox dongle will be green already; so it does stay sync’d through a power off – great.
I also paired these headphones with my Windows laptop. I tried the dongle and also Bluetooth. Everything paired in a split second. The sound was also amazing using various music videos on my computer. On the Xbox (mine is a Series X), I watched movies and played games; the sound was vibrant with super strong bass and crisp highs. In motorsports games the sound was incredible and did add a lot of fun to playing the games with such crisp, crunchy and snappy sound characteristics.
I ended up watching a couple movies plus about 2 hours of gaming in one sitting. I noticed the ear cups were very comfortable over this timeframe. I do wear glasses, and the shape and softness of the ear cups ensured I didn’t get a headache – tip of the cap to the Corsair engineers for designing a headset with a very high comfort level to go with the wonderful sound.
You can install the iCue software on your computer to update the headset firmware and also you can re-pair the headset with the dongle if needed (however, the dongle does come already paired with the headset). The dongle firmware can also be updated by the iCue software. I noticed that the software found the headset and the dongle immediately –nice.
I did interact with Corsair support and it turned out that their support was exceptional both via phone and email. I was very pleased with their customer support and appreciated the advice I got.
I installed Dolby Atmos on my Xbox and the sound through these headphones was booming like 3D spatial sound – just wonderful. You do need to ensure your Xbox audio settings are set to ‘Headphone with Dolby Atmos’. I am very pleased with these headphones and would highly recommend them for the Xbox.

I was super excited to be able to get my hands on the Corsair HS80 Max v2 XBOX gaming headset. I have the Corsair HS80 in white, which I can only use on my PC, which is fine, but it makes switching back to Xbox a struggle since the headset I am using there is nowhere near the quality and comfort of the HS80 series. But now, I do not even have to swap slider options since I can experience the perfect balance of performance, comfort, and versatility on either side.
Out of the box, the unit should now be plug and play ready, but if you need a firmware update, it should be a seamless adventure. The device comes with Dolby Atmos, that allows you to have a spatial immersive experience. On Xbox, it brings an incredible sense of depth to games and makes the environmental game queues feel realer than life. Whether on PC or Xbox, the unit allows for customization for different gaming categories. This is exceptionally nice when switching from an RPG to sports titles. It is noted that the Max v2 really shines by offering a simultaneous low-latency 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as quick charging, and it boasts a long lasting battery life. First, the battery will last for days. I was trying to drain it, and my wife put it back charging for about two hours, and the unit was at full capacity. So, despite my best efforts, I still have not killed the headset altogether. Then I must admit that the simultaneous low latency wireless connectivity is extremely effective. It provides quick connections and protects against ambient interferences. The headset is designed well and offers a very snug fit for most heads. That said, the comfort is bar none and easily allows the user hours of wear since it is comprised of breathable fabrics and lightweight plastics & aluminum.
Last thoughts are that the Corsair HS80 for Xbox hit the mark and should be your first choice. It brings Dolby Atmos immersion and intuitive controls, without jeopardizing quality or comfort.
