Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the excellent camera quality, ease of use, and the pan and tilt features of the High-Definition Pan and Tilt Wi-Fi Video Security Camera. Many also appreciate the night vision and motion detection capabilities. However, some users experienced difficulties with the setup process and software, while others reported issues with Wi-Fi connectivity and overall reliability. My support person Laine (ID: AR004296) was absolutely fabulous. She took me through my camera setup and made it as painless as possible. I do have issues with the DLink instructions as printed but Laine provided the best solution. She even helped me with deleting another camera that failed to install on previous attempts. I have been in computer support for over 25 years and the professionalism I experienced with her ranks high on my scale. Thank you for hiring competent workers and thank you Laine.

The Dlink HD Pan & Tilt network camera works perfectly with the DNR 202L. Set up for the DNR required contact to customer support. DLink customer support was excellence! The technician (AR004273) who was helping resolve the setup issue and also go a step further to help me configure the recording schedule and trigger secondary email notification. Couldn't have ask for more! Case # C6718418 & C6718466

Very easy to set up if you follow the quick start guide. Mobile resolution is capped at 480P and looks poor. Otherwise does everything we need and I like the ease of use.

I experienced an issue with this product initially connecting it to my home Wi-Fi, and I must say that I was very pleased with the customer service provided by the company's technical support, specifically the technician, Jenny Nicolas. She was very helpful, spent an hour on the phone with me, and was able to resolve it. She was patient, helpful, and very knowledgeable. I am VERY pleased with the technical support from this company and will definitely buy their products again as a result.

    Great Beginner Camera

The quality of the video is a little grainy at low light, but the camera is quiet and does what we need it to. I like that we can check the camera from our phones. Just installed tonight. Working well so far. A lot of options to still look over. My review is more about the great service we received. I called dlink tech support and they transferred me since we purchased thru best buy. Rep AR004296 did a great job getting my camera, internet, computer and phone all linked together. Even when my computer started all the windows updates, She patiently waited for them to complete. Great Job!!!

This is a product that i can recommend to anybody looking for an indoor surveillance system. I needed help setting the camera up so i called dlink customer support and i had the pleasure of speaking with Greg (badge no. AR-004215, case C6739491). He went to extreme lengths in order to make sure i was 100% set up. Excellent customer service for an excellent product.

    Decent camera, clunky software

Camera works well in providing a remote image with panning and tilt. Low light and night picture is also good. The PIR motion detection sensor works well. Other features not so much. Had to finally turn off the software-based video motion detection because it generated so many email alerts as to be useless, some of these generated when the camera is being panned. The "continuous" video recording to the MicroSD saves only about 10-15 seconds of video for every minute. As far as we can tell, the ability to communicate by voice back to the camera from an iPad does not work. The video collection, as displayed on an iPad, lacks timestamps, forcing you to work backwards through many files to find one for a specific time. The browser interface requires Java, which some of us are reluctant to install for security reasons. The interface will not work with Chrome. The biggest drawback is the setup interface. The version on the iPad is very limited. The version on a browser shows many desirable options -- such as the ability to set times longer than a minute and a larger file size for continuous video recording to the MicroSD -- but when values are entered and "saved," the firmware in the camera just ignores them. As a basic camera, the DCS-5222L is competitive price-wise but its promised bells and whistles are lacking, along with a very clunky and non-intuitive interface.

    Nice features but slow response

I own many D-Link cameras, in this one has great video quality but takes a long time to connect remotely. Having the local memory card can be viewed remotely as well but is a little unreliable. Setting up for recording is not for the faint of heart however. Pan and zoom works good.

There are so many things wrong with this camera I don't know where to begin. I just list them quickly cause I have already wasted enough time on this. Note that I used wired connection so speed should have been maximum: - Keep prompting to upgrade but doesn't do it. I tried upgrading on the app, on the web, and then directly by uploading the .bin file through web portal. None worked and I kept getting alert to upgrade! - iPhone app doesn't work. Keeps crashing. Only Android one worked. - Sound was working intermittently. - Two-way speaking rarely worked. - Many times it didn't connect at all. - Had to close the app and open almost every time to make it work. - The web viewing showed clipped video image. - Remote viewing gets disconnected after few minutes and have to reconnect. While I understand why that was incorporated to ease unnecessary load on their servers but the fact that there is no "extend" option and I have to wait for it to disconnect and then reconnect is very annoying. - Pan and tilt control is very hard to get used to. It's very sensitive and add lag to it and you easily end up overshooting every time. You'd better off buying a wide angle camera instead. - It kept homing when reconnecting and so I kept losing my previous pan position. - Setup took hours! and I am a techie. I would dread to see regular folks trying to setting this thing up correctly.

The camera is very good, but it's not as easy to set up as I expected. However, the technical support is great. I had some problems on wifi connection and email notification. When I called the customer service, the technician, Greg whose ID is AR-004215 was very patient and guided me to operate step by step. My case number is C6737190.

Good wide-angled, camera resolution. Setup of the camera itself was fairly easy and straightforward. Downloading of software to my phone went well. However, when it came to the setup to record on a microdisk for playback, I had to call DLink Tech Support. It took awhile but George was great and walked me through it all. Now it's working and I can access and control everything from my phone! Thank you George!

Just got this camera installed for my business. The features are remarkable and easy to access from any device. The set-up was actually a bit complicated but Francesca AR004277 with Dlink support was so patient and knowledgeable, she had me hooked up in no time. Would definitely recommend

The camera works well enough but the tech support from D-link, specifically technician badge# AR004214, was great. We swapped out our router yesterday and it's taken 12 hours to get all the connected stuff back on the network. Camera was last on the list and I struggled with it. Badge #AR004214 helped me get back up in less than 30 minutes. Thank you!

    was hoping for longer recordings

I was disappointed after purchasing this to discover that it will not record to a file either on the microSD card or to a connected computer folder for longer than 1 minute. Recordings longer than one minute create separate 1 minute files. The only work around is to use a separate D-View Cam application. Infrared will not penetrate glass rendering night time use to inside only. I was disappointed with my purchase and returned this camera for a refund.

ar004674 c6705143 After I had an excellent support for my fist D-Link 5020 camera, I went for the second one with D-Link. this time the DCS 5222L B1. The box and the user manual (on both models) trick you about the OS X needed for Mac computers when using www.MyDLink.com, they respectively claim minimum requirement of 10.5 and 10.6 and having myself a 10.6.8 I thought I as fine until I realized I could not use www.mydlink.com and install the plug-ins, since only at that moment the error window pops up informing that the minimum requirement is 10.7 :(( Customer support did an amazing job both the times and I may stick with D-LInk for the third and last camera. I would recommend the camera if you are willing to put into account possible need of support, which is great anyway. It is still worth it.

I bought 2 cameras, a 933L, & this 5222L. The best part of this camera is the support Dlink provides. I called and spoke with Rouchel, agent number 4211. I had 2 cameras to install, and she was someone that you want to speak with, as she was well trained and knew exactly what I needed to do. Very friendly, courteous, and professional. Just the person I would want representing any company of mine. Great job. And the camera does what a camera is supposed to do. Great product at a fair price, with OUTSTANDING support.
