We're sorry to hear about your laptop experience and that you decided to return your computer. In the future we'd recommend the following steps with a Dell gaming laptop that is heating up:
1. Update your computer BIOS to the latest version available
• Browse to the Dell Drivers & Downloads page:
• Ensure you have selected the correct Operating System
• Under Category, choose BIOS
• Locate the latest System BIOS
• Click Download and save the file to your PC
• Open File Explorer and browse to the location where you saved the downloaded file
• Double-click the BIOS setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process
2. Open Alienware Command Center
3. Click Thermal at the Active Default Theme and set it to Performance
4. Restart the computer
5. Once the computer boots into Windows open SupportAssist
6. Go to the Troubleshooting tab and click on I want to check a specific piece of hardware
7. Click CPU under CPU Devices
8. Select CPU Stress Test and click Run Test
9. Open the Alienware Command Center and go to the Fusion tab
• The CPU peak temperature should be less than or equal to (≤) 100 ℃
• When under high stress, the computer's average temperature can be expected to be less than (≤) 100 ℃.

Great 10fps gaming beast lmao!

That is the best you'll get out of this laptop. Every 2 or 3 minutes during gameplay the laptop overheats and fps drops to 10. Pressing the turbo button mitigates this for about 60 seconds before dropping back down to 10fps. Never buying a dell gaming laptop again.

Great gaming laptop, but the Alienware software...

The Alienware software and the G-key cause more problems than they are worth. I ended up uninstalling them because it caused a lot of lag in heavy games and would throttle the GPU down to 300mhz.

I owned this computer for just about a month and then the USB C input failed. When it worked it was a great gaming laptop. The screen was beautiful and I never everienced any overheating issues. I was using an external monitor and Samsung SSD, so the bad USB C killed it for me. Thankfully Best Buy honored the return warranty for me and I moved to a different brand of computer. I see more Dell computer in the open box, certified Geek Squad case.

Good on paper

At first i was able to get a solid 150-200 fps is apex legends but slowly every day it went down to 80 then 60 and so on till i was barley breaking 30 frames on this 1600$ laptop. I dont know if it was an isolated incodent but when i reached out to support they didnt know what was happening either or didnt tell me if they did

In regards to addressing your concerns around gaming performance, we recommend you ensure the latest graphics drivers are installed. This can easily be done with the GeForce Experience application. You may also download the latest update here: https://dell.to/3tAQ4PI.
If you want to keep your graphics driver up to date by GeForce Experience, click the gear icon on the top-right corner of the screen. In the General tab, enable the "Automatically download driver updates and let me choose when to install" option.
GeForce Experience also features a "optimize playing experience" function where it will automatically adjust visual settings on a per game basis to provide a balance of the best performance and the best visuals for your system. If you still run into issues after updating your system, please use the information below to contact Dell Support.
