Very Nice, With a Few Issues
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm on day 3 with this computer and here are my thoughts so far: Pros: - PRICE. This machine was a very good value for what I paid (about 1100 open box). - The display and refresh rate are amazing. Coming from a 60HZ machine, I can definitely tell the difference! Scrolling web pages is soooo smooth! - The design and LED accents are very nice. Easy to match the keyboard and front light to your desk setup. Cons: I've experienced a few issues so far: 1. I have experienced the sudden drop in frame rate ( to less then 10 fps) while gaming that other reviewers have described. Remember to, not only use the Dell driver updater and Windows update...but also download Nvidia Geforce Experience and update the video drivers. I did this once and had the frame rate issues. Turns out, there was another video driver update available the following day. Since that update, I haven't had that frame rate issue again. 2. I had a really weird crash tonight. I wasn't gaming...just watching Netflix. Suddenly, everything froze. I couldn't even hold the power button to restart machine. I had to literally unplug the power supply, take off the bottom cover, and unplug the battery from the motherboard for a minute. After that, everything turned back on fine. I'm not sure what that was, but it concerns me that it happened after only 3 days. (All my dell drivers and windows were up to date.) 3. The machine does get a little hot for me. Playing Call of Duty on ultra gets me to around 80-90+ degrees, even on my cooling pad...getting about 60-70+ fps. 4. It's a little silly that Dell did not provide the required bracket to install a second M.2 hard drive on the motherboard. The little piece ( part number: PXNWV) is tough to find. Folks are even having to 3D print their own. Very silly. Overall, I'm enjoying the machine so far. I'll update this review as needed.

Great laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really love this laptop. Its so much faster than my old one. I can actually play dead by daylight, phasmophobia, and other steam games on it. I love the keyboard and lights under the laptop. I will say, when you are playing games that take alot of power to work make sure the fans are not covered and well ventilated. It may be a good idea to get a laptop fan. Other than that I have had no issues and it has been wonderful.

Definitely Worth Your While If You're Brave!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had my eye on this laptop for some time. My laptop gave out so without skipping a beat I picked this beast up. I read several reviews regarding the high temps and thermal throttling prior to purchasing. I went online to see what could be done to mitigate this problem. All my research pointed toward replacing the thermal paste. At first glance the task seems a little daunting, but it really wasn't too bad. I took photos as I went along to make sure I put things back together correctly. The two thermal pastes that looked at were Arctic MX-4 and Kryonaut. I chose Arctic because it was considerably cheaper and Kryonaut only gives you and additional two degrees Celsius lower temps. Needless to say benchmark scores have improved and temperatures are significantly down. I have not changed any stock settings other than the thermal paste. So, if you are one of the brave that doesn't mind tinkering this laptop is well worth your while. Any other laptop with similar specs will run $800 to $1,000 more. Happy computing!!!

Worth it if... (View Details)
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I heard alot about the throttling and overheating of this model but like other reviews say get it only if you are brave. If you have worked on computers or have good google search skills to learn how to cool this puppy down it is worth it. This is almost as fast as my Desktop that has an i9-9900k/ 32gb RAM/ GTX 1080TI. First do the bios updates, fix thermal settings, adjust power settings, and turn off turbo boost. You should be able to play most games on high. If you want to play Cyberpunk 2077 on RTX Ultra then you will need to replace the thermal paste, remove dust filters, and buy a specific cooling pad for it. I play on Ultra RTX settings just fine like this. You can also turn back on the turbo boost at this point. It runs from 70c to 80c with turbo boost off cpu and gpu run from 58 to 70. FYI I only use Cool power mode or Optimized so far in bios. I have not used Ultra Performance yet cause I believe ot would send me over the 85c in heat. Its seems the GPU gets more power in this mode by default to boost it but does not make much or any difference in performance. There are other tips and tricks you can find out online. If you are a gamer then you know that not everything comes together sometimes you need to put some work but this one requires actual work.

Dell g7700-7231blk-pus
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Gaming Laptop it's fast and great running games and surfing the web ,It's updated to date. The only thing it gets very hot under load and starts to lower the frames, the fans can't keep the temperatures so I have it over my AC blowing cold air to keep the temperature at 45c.

Excellent 17” gaming laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this laptop recently, and have to say that it’s a great 17” gaming laptop. Battery life will last 5-6 hours on average easily and can be extended easily in settings. The 2070 and Intel i7 combo is giving me great gaming experiences. I will say though many will say thermals aren’t good on these on models but After doing all bios updates and updates in general, I’m seeing thermal performance typicality around 80-83c for the cpu and 70 for the gpu. Overall a great buy!

Dell has outdone themselves!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm normally an HP Omen fan, still am, but with the current PC situation and not a lot of stock I thought I'd give the Dell G7 7700 a shot and I can say that this thing is amazing, with great graphics, speed and sound the only thing I wish was in it was a larger drive but other than that super in love with this system. Runs smooth only one minor issue and it's resolved easily by settings so for those on the fence about this PC I say get it, totally worth it! I'm still an Omen fan but I can say Dell has renewed my faith in their work!

The most truly review overheat solved
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tasted more then 3 laptops, the most truly review. Why so many exchanges and 5 stars? in all this laptop is 4-, but I give to bestbuy 1 star more for the excellent job and patient to my decision. First one I've got was excellent at work, it was keeping all temperatures as needed without coolers, but it had problem with screen and backlight bleeding was at some points super extra, it was seen even on grey background G7 like yellow color. I checked 3 stores and all G7 "in store" didn't have any bleeding at all. At that moment I decided to exchange it and I couldn't imaging that all others will be vary tricky. They didn't have bleeding, but they were super overheated. During Browsing the internet they were 70-80 C. During games on mid settings CPU 90-100C GPU 83-87C, FPS? - no FPS.... Coolers helped get it Down to 90C and 80C and got FPS 60. I had to stop the game. One by one they were exchanged, I was trying to find the first one, no matter what bleeding there would be. what was the cause? - NO "normal" auto undervolting. And I found mine one! The last try - and I got it! At first it had horrible bleeding, seems it was under pressure, but it is vary light and seen only at start up black screen at night. And like first one it keeps temperature of CPU without coolers. Tests were passed well under 90C, sometimes it got 94 but immediately throw it down without big undervolting. Auto Undervolting working awesome when you're browsing internet or working in MS Office... No noise, no fan, absolutely calm! Games under 90C - CPU. GPU was 74C, on the high settings it is keeping 80C. But if I lift it some degree it is CPU 85, GPU 78C. I bought some cool thing (pad and vacuum), you can see on pics, they are awesome and help me keep temps under 80C- CPU 78C (4.2 Mhz), GPU 74C(1800Mhz), FPS over 100. So I'm happy, I'm giving mine 5 stars! Love it! So? what was the cause with overheating, where were problems and defects? Great question, but I have some answers. Maybe it can be intel defects? Difficult to figure out, but likely 30%. 35%-Dell's software, 35% motherboard. Dell has crazy soft. It is poor, always on errors and conflicting with all others that are monitoring FPS, CPU, GPU, even with GeForce Experience, - no it is not joke! Alienware CC was crazy, lost keyboard lights, stopped working, switched off games and do not installing properly, often reinstalling by itself. sometimes because of it you need to reinstall the windows. Power manager - the same picture - no errors - and no work. the problem is in the high performance mode, performance (G button). Bios do not help. when you're on the high performance it is not undervolting well, and I can say NO undervolting at all (0.02-0.15 - it's nothing when it is 99C). I change mode to balance - but undervolting still blocked, so the switching of the modes was a joke. After start up the fans were on 50% with empty screen and no tasks, no calm work at all. SO what will help to throw your temps? Uninstall all Dells software , switch to balance (adaptive) mode via BIOS. If there is still no undervolting you should speak to support, it shouldn't be so.

Q: QuestionCan this computer be ordered with Windows Pro instead of Windows Home? If so, how much would it cost? Also can it be ordered with 32GB of RAM instead of 16GB? If so, how much would that be and to what amount of RAM is this computer expandable? Thanks!
Asked by Jace.
- A:Answer IF you order this from Dell you can get it with windows Pro instead of Home if you wish too along with up to 64gb of Ram as well. Other wise if you order through best buy then you go to geek squad tell them what u want and they would install this for you as wll. Not sure why Best buy and Dell state it only goes to a max of 32gb which is incorrect it actually can do up to 64gb of Ram!
