Good but not Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the features of this laptop. The 2 in 1 is amazing and the touch screen makes scrolling and such much easier. This has been a good little laptop to get me through college. However, my finale semester as a senior, it is starting to have issues. This laptop barley holds charge (even when it was new- even worse now its old) and lags. I also cannot upgrade to the latest windows because my laptop does not even meet the minimum requirements. Overall I love this little laptop; however, it is not a long-term computer.

Great laptop with Ryzen APU
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my opinion this laptop is doing justice for the Ryzen mobile processors. The Ryzen 5 CPU is on par with the 8th gen Intel i5 and the Vega 8 graphics blows Intel integrated graphics out of the water. I am able to play many games at a decent frame rate. This laptop is great value for $700 with user upgradeable SSD and RAM. Pro: Very good CPU and GPU performance for a 13 inch laptop. Very easy to open the bottom to upgrade RAM and SSD. Memory is in dual channel configuration. Two level keyboard backlit. Solid construction, premium feel. Good selection of I/O port, IR camera for Windows Hello. Versatility of a 2 in 1. Con: A bit large and heavy for a 13 inch, but the price make up for it. Battery life is decent, but it could be better because there is definitely room for a bigger battery. Speakers are facing down. Does not support Windows Ink. This laptop is so much faster than my old one, very happy with it so far!

I like it so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had it for a couple days but so far the only complaints I have are regarding Windows 10 not the actual laptop. I've been nursing my old Win 7 laptop and it finally died for good. I've really loved Win 7 and have successfully avoided any newer Windows versions until now. This laptop seems pretty good so far. Much faster than the Dell all-in-one I bought for my wife a few months ago. I just hate that it won't run any of my old software and everytime you turn around Win 10 is trying to "protect" me or get me to use/purchase some other Microsoft product. Eventually, I'll get used to this new OS but the transition is going to be painful and expensive.

Hits the sweet spot
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My brother bought this laptop as the first of several I had recommended for his consideration. After setting it up for him - to include updating to the latest Windows 10 version (0903) - I fell in love with it and offered my more expensive and beefier processor and ram Acer to him as a trade. Why? The screen on this Dell presents a beautiful display that doesn't wash out no matter the angle at which set it. The slim, silver, smallish size makes it comparably light to other larger laptops which adds greatly to it's portability. It may not be a speed demon but it is plenty fast enough for an average user who surf shops, blogs, watches youtube videos etc... and it runs much cooler than the I7 processor in my Acer. When it comes to relatively low cost, combined with what this beautiful little laptop offers in component hardware it hits a near perfect sweet spot in value. The only con I have with it is it comes with two sticks of 4Gig ram (and only two slots) instead of one stick of 8. It will expand up to 16 Gig but you have to pay for the full 16 to get there. Nevertheless, a 256 gig SSD and 8 gig of ram suffice for sufficient speed. You'll notice I still give it 5 stars. **Battery life is very good. Worked without power cord attached at varied tasks for 3 hours and still had over 50% battery life on it.

Needs more advanced cooling technology.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm gonna keep this short and simple i have the laptop and i got it about 1 or 2 years ago the laptop is very good but it does need improvement in the cooling technology that's built into the laptop and that's why i gave it 4 stars instead of 5. The laptop comes with a small little vent in the front back part of the laptop and that's it, now im not a expert or anything but that doesn't seem like much cooling for a laptop this size and how much things are running in the background. Now because of that little vent when i place my laptop on my nightstand it gets very hot and that causes the laptop to run slow and glitch a lot at least i think that's what it's caused by.

Wow, great deal with the ADM Ryzen
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great deal. The Ryzen 2500 processor is better/faster than the latest generation I5 processor and with Vega 8 graphics, it's better than than I5 Intel set-up for $850 and close to the I7 set-up at $1050. Regardless of the set-up, the 7000 series is a nice laptop. Pros: The display is nice and bright and clear. Lighted keyboard with adjustable brightness is nice 2 Usb ports, an SD port, an HDMI jack, and a couple other ports I don't even know that they do. Good battery life so far, 7-8 hours of normal desktop/internet work, Super easy start up, not a lot of junk/bulkware to remove. Unlike other PC makers (HP) Cons: The bottom runs warm, not hot, but noticeable if on your knees.

Powerful laptop!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using this laptop for the past weeks and found that it is powerful and fast. My only complaint is the battery life. When fully charged with moderate usage, I was only able to get about 3-4 hours. The build quality is great. I will update once I see something wrong.

Great Laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So to begin, I did have some issues at the beginning, but later found out that Microsoft put out several updates to fix these issues. Since then, I have had no problems. I use this machine for software development having database software and several development environments working (Visual Studio 2017, Visual Studio Code and SQL Management Studio all running at the same time). I have have no bottlenecks that I can find. One small annoyance, the power button is on the right side closest to the user. If you are not careful when you move the laptop you may hit this button and the computer will go off (depending on Windows settings). A bit annoying, but I try not to grab the laptop from the edges now. Its very solidly built, does not feel plasticy or fragile, YMMV.

It's okay
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this Laptop 2 days ago and the fan is very loud. The laptop also gets very hot very fast when doing anything but checking email. So far i have a love\hate feeling with the power button. I have accidentally turned it off about 5 times already because I touched the button while moving the laptop, very irritating. Those are the reasons it gets only 3 stars. Otherwise the screen is amazing, it responds fast and is easy to use.

Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear about the issues that you've been having. Here are some tips to help with the fan noise:
Here are some tips to help with fan noise -
A: Cleaning the Vents
1. Check the vents on the computer to see if they are covered with dust and not allowing heat and air to pass through.
2. Turn off the system.
3. Remove all power sources: Unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery, or unplug the desktop power Cord.
4. Use a compressed air can to blow the dust out of the vents. Be sure to hold the can at an upright angle (near 90 degrees), and hold it 15-20 centimeters (6-8 inches) away from the vent.
B: Update the BIOS: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer.

With regards to the laptop getting hot you can check out these tips for recommended use:
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Thank goodness I have total tech cause I had to call them the day I got it cause the screen had a yellow tint, they couldn't fix it but I found a work around.. I had them disable the touch pad cause I have a mouse and it gets in my way..well everytime I shut the computer down and then restart it the touch pad will start to work again and it still is showing disable so I have to enable then disable to get it to be disable..I am thinking it maybe a hardware issue Don't know if I would recommend it to a friends or not..otherwise its ok to good

Can be good, but needs a sale and a lot of TLC.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're computer savvy - and I mean really savvy - you can turn this into a pretty solid laptop. I picked this up when it was on sale for $549; it is absolutely NOT worth it at any higher price tag. The out of box experience is absolute garbage. The Windows installation is shockingly bloated, the BIOS is outdated and causes the system to run loud and hot, and the thing just gets thrashed by all the crap that's loaded on it. Upgrade paths are fairly limited, but exist. The slow Wi-Fi card can (and should) be upgraded to an Intel card with 2x2. DRAM can be upgraded to at least 16GB, but limited to DDR4-2400, and you *MUST* update the BIOS to ensure compatibility. The storage is the biggest offender; the notebook only supports M.2 SATA. The high-performance NVMe drives in the wild WILL NOT WORK. That said, if you update the BIOS, do a clean installation of Windows 10, and install the latest drivers from AMD's website, this little notebook can become pretty capable and the user experience can be greatly improved. The keyboard, touchpad, and overall build quality do not line up with a $699 laptop and better options absolutely exist; at $549 and with a little elbow grease, this is a fine laptop.

I like it but don't love it.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this laptop but I wish it came in an 11.6 inch with same specs. Also, the battery seems to not hold a charge. These two issues are big for me. I have noticed that it takes a minute for web pages to load and being that I just bought it that frustrates me as well. Other than that I don't have any complaints.

Posted .Hi Brittni,
Thanks for your review. We're glad to hear that your new laptop is performing well for you for the most part. If you'd like some tips for extending your battery life you can consider these:
Change the Power Plan:
1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
2. On the options list, click Power Options.
3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.
a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

Very nice Dell 2-n-1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop/tablet is fast, well put together, and good for business, school, or play. I got it because I had a tablet that I had gotten over very quickly and I wanted to replace with a laptop and a tablet in one. I love the fact that this serves both purposes very easily, and I love the backlight keyboard. Had not really been a Dell fan, but this laptop has won me over.

Defective Hardware Across Multiple Laptops
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first indication not to purchase this laptop should have been when the floor model blue screened on me twice in a row. However, I still went and purchased this product. Below are the highlights of my experience which this particular model: Laptop #1: The first laptop I purchased was dead on arrival. It would not start-up, even after being charged for a couple hours. I did an even-exchange for the same thing. Laptop #2: The second laptop was not much better. It was completely dead before plugging in the charger (usually there's a little bit of juice left in the batteries). Upon startup, the BIOS screen immediately popped-up asking whether or not I wanted to accept the changes made prior to me purchasing it (i.e., by the manufacturer). This is completely unacceptable. After bypassing the prompt, I followed the setup process (during which it would not recognize any wireless networks), and entered Windows 10. However, the laptop would still not detect wireless networks, even after updating the drivers. I immediately boxed it up and returned it to the store, exchanging it for yet another. Laptop #3: This laptop experienced the same wireless network connectivity issues, and also blue-screened. I then returned Laptop #3, and received a refund for my purchase. Final Verdict: After conducting further research, as well as speaking with store Associates, I believe the fault lies with the Ryzen processor. I heard that Dell computers with the new AMD Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 processors, both laptops and desktops, are being returned in full force because of a multitude of issues being experienced. Key Takeaways: I strongly recommend that Dell look into this issue. Furthermore, no consumer should purchase any computer that has an AMD Ryzen processor inside until the defect is officially identified / resolved, and all faulty products are removed from store shelves. Please note that Best Buy was excellent to work with, and the fault does not lie with the retailer. In this case, the manufacturer (Dell) and / or its vendors are to blame.
