Perfect for professional use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The worker helped explain what the laptop comes with in terms of data and hardware which was very helpful. I especially love the touch screen and the size of the laptop. It's just the perfect size.

must know how to reinstall drivers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great when you get it working. Out of the box, it had no sound and no WiFi. I had to install a different WiFi driver and sound driver. Sound driver still goes funky from time to time and must be reinstalled. If you don't have patience, don't buy this one because you'll end up becoming very familiar with the act of defenestration. If it's on sale and you or you're kid is a computer person, get it.

Good midrange, smaller laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a decent deal on a skylake laptop in a 13" formfactor and settled on this one. I think it largely fits the bill and I am pretty satisfied. Build: Seems to be sturdy. In general, this is a handsome system. Although plastic, the top and bottom have a nice soft-touch finish to them which I find more appealing than Dell's standard inspiron fake silvery plastics. The palmrest does have a fake silver-ness to it, but with a brushed look to it that gives it some distinction. The hinge seems like it will last a while. It's pretty thin, but perhaps thicker and heaver than what one might consider an ultrabook. It's definitely a step up in the heaviness/thickness factor from a MB Air. The touchpad is just okay... Right clicks and two fingered gestures are less sensitive than one would desire. The chiclet style keyboard feels ok as well, but the travel distance is not as far as I'd prefer. I'm getting used to it still however, and its definitely a serviceable keyboard. . Performance and value: the skylake i5 and its integrated graphics hold up pretty well at this price point. The ssd and RAM offered here are good for the price of 650$ (if you can snag it for that much). I experienced no stuttering at full screen 1080p video playback. CSGO runs at about 25 fps @1080p, but you can expect a steady 60 if you dial back the resolution. LoL runs at 60fps @ 1080p on low. Battery life looks to be about 7 hours with mixed usage. The screen is nice. Perhaps not as bright as id like when on the highest setting, but thats nitpicking. I didnt have and dead pixels or uneven lighting. Viewing angles are what one would expect from a budget IPS display. software: Well, its win10. Hopefully you know what you are getting into. I honestly don't have any issues with it. I actually like a lot of the changes in win8 and 10 like the redone task manager. The bloat is not excessive, which is good, but you'd hope dell would be a little more sensitive considering its a 128gb hard drive. I'd recommend disabling hibernation and trimming some of dells apps to reclaim 3-5GB. Luckily I didn't have the compromised Dell eRoot certificate. I'd check every system from Dell for that. Final thoughts: I had no issues with wi-fi as other folks have commented. It worked fine out of the box. On the whole, i'm very happy with the purchase at 650$. The only drawbacks are that the keyboard action is only good, and two fingered scrolling and right clicking is some times inconsistent. It's also a shade heavier than I would prefer, but it gives some heft and a feel of quality to the machine. I would also not that this is actually the "Special Edition" of the 7000 series 2 in 1. I'm not sure why they didn't put that on the product page as this version is definitely better than the standard version, both because it has the ssd and the soft touch finish and tapered edges.

wifi fix, great laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i too had the wifi problem where it would disconnect randomly. i searched online and found a fix. go into the network properties of your wifi and uncheck ipv6. this should keep it connected long enough to run windows and dell updates. after doing updates, it looks like the wifi became stable. now for the experience part. i really like the laptop. here is my list of likes. likes: - the weight is nice - comes with 128GB samsung MZ-7LF128D if you're curious. i was able to easily swap it out with a 500GB samsung 840EVO. - in a fast glance, i don't believe there's an available ram slot, but it's not soldered in. - keyboard is nice. felt similar to macbook pro/air. - works with ubuntu 15.10 (gnome). no additional drivers needed but the touchscreen experience is not as great as with windows - minimum keyboard flex - the plug itself is small and lightweight - not too much dell bloatware. have a service tag number makes it easy to find info or updates on your specific laptop. dislikes: - it's difficult to open the laptop with one hand. just used to doing this coming from a macbook pro/air. there's a strong magnet that keeps the lid close. i noticed it when i was holding a usb flash drive near the lid. it snatched it out of my hand haha. - in tablet mode, it's not plush. there's a small gap between the screen and the keyboard. so it's possible that you "bang" them together when using it in this mode. bang isn't a good word to use, maybe collide but not to a point where you damage it. - touchpad experience isn't all that great. it's above average for my taste. haven't found any pc laptop compared to macbook pro/air yet. - scaling in some software doesn't match 1080 resolution. i believe it's a problem with windows and not the laptop but i thought i'd mention it. - didn't come with foam protection between screen and keyboard. so you could get the dirt from the keys imprinted on the screen when closed and in your backpack. i hated this on the macbook pro/air. other than that, i wish it had a lower cost option without the ssd drive. i have a few lying around so i'm going to swap it out anyway.

I found this laptop to tablet clunky
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been disappointed with this purchase. I had to update wifi software as soon as the computer was received. The tablet to PC mode is clunky and does not always transition well. This has been an expensive substitute for a microsoft surface pro that I wish I had just paid a bit more for and gotten.

Dont buy this product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After 4 different return visits to Best Buy, had to give this poc back. Would not connect to internet. Installed driver updates, exchanged for another laptop, and so after 4 attempts by good Best Buy staff laptop would not connect to Web. Am a proud new Acer owner, and last Dell I'll ever buy.

Great PC for watching videos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mainly bought this for watching videos and for what I assumed would be a fast loading pc (which it is). Small storage, but adequate for my needs. Screen looks great, it's thin and compact, fits great in my backpack!
