    Outstanding Laptop!

I was on the hunt for about 2-3 weeks. Reviews, online, stores you name it I explored it. This Laptop is legit from all stand points. Fast start up, light up keyboard, the keys solid and quiet. the solid state hard drive is so quiet I cannot even hear this computer running. super light and rugged at the sale time. touch screen and mouse pad are wonderful and easy to use. Super thin and the outer shell is a matte finish with a rubbery feel. I also love how you can flip it completely around like a tablet. with the discounts and the fact I got an open box SAVED me over $300!

Excellent upgrade for an average user

This is an excellent laptop for the "average" user. It's very direct and exactly plain cut 128gb machine with an excellent keyboard and build quality. I've been using the same laptop for a few years "HP Envy" and this is an excellente upgrade for an "average" user. As for these machines with Wifi problems, mine isn't one of them. p.s. great machine for the price!

    Great laptop, flimsy architecture

    Posted .

Let me mention that I had the previous version of this laptop. Besides the upgrade to windows 10, switching to SSD and new Intel processor, it is pretty similar to the old one. Now let me point out the good parts...it is fast, has a great display, isn't too bulky..I'm guessing the switch to SSD could only improve the speed. Here comes the bad part...it isn't the most durable. I shut the laptop a little roughly (not a full fledged slam but with more energy than I would recommend). Next time I took the laptop out there was a huge crack on the screen, rendering the touch screen useless. Of course this is my fault but I've treated this just like my other laptops and I've had another Inspiron that has taken a beating for years..an older one with a 3rd gen i3 and no touch screen..and it still has a perfectly functional screen. My fault for not getting the Geek Squad Protection as it would have covered this. Overall its a good laptop, but I'd handle it with care and definitely get a geek squad protection plan on it..repairs on such an issue can range between 275-350$. If you are more careful than I am go for it, but get the protection plan as it is definitely better than shelling out half the cost of the laptop in order to get a repair.

After a few tuneups, excellent product

This is an amazing product; Dell really nailed it. The SSD, 8GB RAM, and the newest 6th gen processor make this a laptop that will last for years to come. However, out of the box there are a few tune ups that should be dealt with if one wants the most out of this machine. First, in settings turn off pinch to zoom; this will make scrolling with the track pad much better and eliminates the delay. Second, update BIOS; this yields an overall system improvement. Third, make sure all audio drivers are up to date. This greatly improves the listening comprehension of the computer especially when one is using Cortana. Lastly, give the machine time to acclimate to your specific usage style. It appears that everyone expects, no demands, near perfection out of the box and that just is not going to happen. Considering that the updates one needs to install themselves are minuscule compared to the longevity of this machine, you really are getting a good bang for your buck. This is a great machine if you let it be; do not let the 1 star reviews deter you-- those people expect too much.

    Perfect size

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Returned an XPS 13 because it felt too small. This laptop is the perfect size. The Good: Screen looks great, colors are vivid and blacks are deep (once adjusted) SSD drive is very fast, the outer color is a cool very dark slate grey, the interior is an aluminum grey. Battery life is very long. I'm getting almost 6 hours with all settings on performance and screen on maximum brightness with auto dimmer turned off. The Bad: this has the 6th gen skylark CPU which is compatible with DDR4 but it actually comes with DDR3, when closed its impossible to open the laptop with one hand you have to use two and open it from the two sides as if there was a magnet, not bad just weird.

LOVE THIS! Perfect for school work Shenanigans

I purchased this laptop about 6 months ago and I am so glad I did. Windows 10 is heaven sent compared to Windows 8. The touch is accurate and smooth, the colors are crisp and clear, love the backlit keyboard. 2 issues I've see so far: - Mouse is a bit iffy, I've messed with the settings but it still feels iffy like non responsive at times or with a delay even tough I've lowered the delay and sensitivity - Graphics card failed 3 times while using internet in the middle of taking online test for school (luckily i took screen shot and sent it to professor and was allowed a retake) Overall I love it and would have not gone any other route.

Good Decent Machine , satisfied so far

I did at least one month of research before buying this. I was on a budget around < $550 and was looking for 14 Inch , i5 6th gen, 2 in 1 Touch , Full HD display and good WIFI Connectivity. I had to choose between Asus & Lenovo yoga 700 in this price band. I finally got this Open Box Excellent Dell 7000 Series Black 2 in 1 laptop. Pros 1. Quite fast . Good boot up speed 10/12 secs . With the 128GB SDD has a decent fast operation. 2.Display / Sound : I quite love the display & Sound . Very clear crisp sound. 3. WIFI : This is something I have really struggled with my previous laptops. And when I read the reviews , 32 people had same common WIFI issues . So I had my fingers crossed but I decided to trust Dell as Best Buy had the 14 days replacement. But right out of the box , the WIFI connectivity was superb , I have used this 2 weeks not a single WIFI issue so far. Very Satisfied. 4. Built & Looks : I really like the black rubbery outside and the solid metallic finish inside. The back light key boards are also flawless. 5. Touch : Touch screen and touch pad both looks pretty good , no issues or problems so far. Cons 1. It is little uncomfortable to flip open the laptop. Little hard and uncomfortable due to the strong built. Maybe with more use, will be better in future. 2. Only the screen hanged once , not sure why. 3. Came with only 81GB free space on the 128 SDD , so not much disk space. But you can add a SDD card to extend the storing capability. 258GB in the same model would have been perfect. 4. Weight : Little heavy for a 13.3 Inch laptop. Overall satisfied so far , the laptop is doing good . I do lots of net browsing , take online Technical training , emails , videos , online movies . I do not do any gaming.

    Nice, fast laptop!

Very little to complain about. Got it on sale for $599.99. I was a little surprised that no MS Office came with it, darn it. Nice finish, screen, keyboard. Compared to my old laptop, it is very fast. For example, my old laptop would take forever to load busy web page but this new one is almost instant. Sound is pretty good too. Super fast processor, solid state hard drive, 8GB memory, bluetooth. What's not to like? Just a note: When any computer is new out of the box, it needs a lot of updates. First Dell, then Windows, then finally Windows Defender for all the anti-malware definitions. It also wants to do a full scan. Then I had to purchase and install Office. But that is all done now and the rest should be automatic. I am very happy with my purchase. Bought it online and picked it up at the store. All I had to do is show my ID and they handed me the box.

    Bought it for my wife

As for hardware, the laptop does great! Bought it for the wife so she could use it for her college work and she hasn't complained about it. Yes the jump from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and to have a touchscreen was a learning experience that she was able to quickly concur in a short time. I would recommend this laptop to the novice of users. As for the OEM software, the computer rarely freezes, but when i does a quick restart would fix that problem. I attribute the freezing to Windows 10 and not the hardware and that's why I gave the product rating of 5 stars.

I purchased this laptop to practice and enhance my skills in VmWare and Redhat. I installed VirtualBox and am currently running two instances of CentOS 7. I also have vCenter installed to connect to my esxI server. I love the sleek keyboard. I barely use the touch screen features. I purchased the Geek Squad open-box item. This laptop best suits my needs.

I originally bought this amazing 2 in 1 for my 15 yr old for Christmas. I really did a lot of research before choosing this machine and I have not been disappointed. My original review is below, but I liked this computer so much I went back to the store and treated myself to one as well. I waited till on sale and at $649 nothing else can come close to the quality and features of this machine. Original review: Everything you need. Great processor I5 v 6 not dated version as with some promo machines. Nice look and feel, lighted keyboard, great screen images. Solid state drive is super fast. Purchased external DVD burner haven't used yet. Really nice machine especially on sale.

Same issue as another reviewer, useless computer

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this model and the wifi card disappeared from the system about a minute or so after booting up. Not listed on the device manager, even. No way to remedy the problem. Exchanged it for an identical one the next morning only to get the exact same problem. Spent an hour or more on the phone with Dell tech support before returning the second one hoping there might be a straightforward fix. First thing the guy asked me to was take out the battery. Had to explain to him that this model does not have a removable battery. Then he asked me to hook it up to a wired ethernet connection, and I had to explain that the device has no ethernet port. Considering I had already told them the exact model and serial numbers I found the complete lack of any knowledge of their own devices ridiculous. Then went through the useless steps of making me run system diagnostics, reinstalling windows and doing factory resets (all of which I had already done before calling, as I told the tech guy I never would have called support if the device could be fixed by something that simple). After all that I finally got a supervisor on the phone. The supervisor finally admitted to me that the model has had issues with the wifi card and that there is no known fix for this issue. Probably a manufacturing defect causing a faulty PCI connection or something similar. Still he offered me no remedy or incentive to do anything other than return it and never use a Dell machine ever again. If their QC is this pathetic I will never trust another Dell. After finally dumping this useless machine and getting my money back I bought a similar model from Acer that actually has slightly better specs and was even a little cheaper. I've been very happy with the Acer, so I guess it ended up all good in the end but no thanks to Dell or their worthless support department. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this one, though maybe you'll get lucky and it'll actually work. My experience was definitely not a fluke, as there are complaints all over the web about the same issue on this model.

Sleek design and great features that don't perform

I am very much disappointed with this purchase and had to return after 3 weeks. Laptop has sleek design and great features for the price. However, Video card crashed almost everyday. WiFi is ok for two weeks and failed to connect after the installation of Brother printer drivers. After three weeks, when I tried to access windows from Start , it flashes and disappears, I tried to reset the laptop from a restore point and that never worked. Volume controls failed and when I tried to restore the laptop from a restore point , I was getting errors like that feature is not supported etc., I got so tired of it and returned the laptop. I again went back to dell (a higher model ) as Dell has the most features I wanted at a reasonable price. I will be testing the new laptop next couple of days. keeping fingers crossed. My advise on this particular model is "stay away from it". I am giving two stars just for the features and price.

I have this laptop for 4 days now. I really want to give a high review on this laptop however the video driver keeps crashing on this laptop. The message pop up every day since I purchased this laptop even I already updated Windows 10 and update video card driver from Dell support website. I did not have wifi card problem like other people have said yet. If the video card driver issue still show up I will return this laptop to Bestbuy. Btw this is a nice design laptop with good specs and lightweight.

    Christmas fail

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Similar to some recent reviews, we purchased this laptop as a Christmas gift. Christmas morning booted it up and it kept dropping the wifi. Tried multiple times and also found that none of the USB ports worked also. I gave them a second chance and got a replacement the next morning. Go figure, the same is with the second laptop. Retuned the second one and got a Toshiba and all is good. I am not a novice and knew my wifi was fine. Several other laptops, tablets, smartphones, and streaming video products. Dell has a serious blunder on their hands. I suspect the folks they have building the laptops put the wrong image on the drive, using the wrong drivers. Unfortunately there is a trend here. We use Dell for our corporate laptop and quality has fallen this last cycle.

Why didn't you buy tech support?

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Ditto previous post Christmasfailure. And ditto wifi issues. Called tech support and after 20 min of failed attempts the tech says, "I see here that you did not buy tech support. Why not?" Flabbergasted, I said, "Should I have to buy tech support for a reputable company like Dell?!" His response was, "You see now that you could use it". I disconnected the line and took the laptop back the next day. After standing in line a couple of minutes, the guy in front of me recognized my box and turned to show me his. Said he turned it on and it had a line down the middle of the screen...wouldn't even boot up. I'm not one for bashing a product. There's a dud in every industry. And every company has a rep that says something that's not in line with company's vision. But nevertheless, I've vowed never to buy a dell computer again. If you're a loyalist, have fun. If not, save yourself the trouble...

I came to Best Buy knowing what I wanted, and this laptop fit my needs. I wanted a laptop with a 1080p screen, as I plan on using it for lots of video. I can't stand the 720p screens. I wanted at least 8GB of ram, and a solid state drive and at least an i3 but preferred an i5. This has both .Furthermore, the batter life seems to be excellent so far. The laptop feels sturdy and of quality material. Lastly, I chose Dell because I've owned a dell before and they have excellent tech support.
