System arrived poorly packed but what is worse is I was on a support call with Dell for over 2hrs and so far we’ve not been able to get a new OS on this machine! I’m not impressed at all with the Q/A or whoever confirmed this machine was operational!

      Krish,

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your battery is not lasting as long as you hoped it would. We'd recommend the following tips to help extend the life of your battery:

      Change the Power Plan:

      1. On the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the Battery icon.
      2. On the options list, click Power Options.
      3. Select a power plan on the battery meter, such as Power Saver or Balanced. Windows 10 has a built in 'Battery Saver' mode that can be activated to extend your system's battery life. The Battery Saver mode will monitor and limit background activity and other features such as push notifications. You do have the option to enable or disable this mode within settings or within advanced Battery Saver settings, you can customize the mode to best suit your needs.

      a) Click on the Action Center icon in the taskbar and select the tile for Battery Saver.
      b) If running Cortana then type Battery Saver into the search box and select from the results.
Within the Battery Saver settings page, you will be able to turn on and off the feature and customize the feature to best meet your needs.
      c) Turn Battery Saver On or Off.
      d) Additional settings available via the Battery use and Battery saver settings links.
      e) Battery use shows further info on apps and their power usage.
      f) Battery Saver Settings screen allows you to customize further Battery Saver feature.

If you'd like to reduce the fan noise on your computer you can try to update the BIOS: An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer. You can also follow up with our Technical Support Team here - 1-800-624-9896.

I bought the laptop in Labour Day deal, and I got it replaced for once because the fingerprint sensor wasn't working, But, even during the second time, there's the problem with the working of a hinge. Even the replacement policy is such that it takes a long time to get a new laptop. Being a student, it did cost me a lot of time and effort.

    Decent Laptop

This is a very decent little laptop. It's very light weight, sleek, and portable. The battery life is above average. One charge will last longer than my other laptop. The fingerprint authentication is great and the pin recognition is very handy. The keyboard is a little on the smaller side, and I have small hands, so if you have larger hands you can expect to have some difficulty. I wish that this had a CD rom drive, that addition would make it almost perfect. The touch screen is a major selling point. I like that it acts as a tablet and a laptop. The screen is decent sized and the clarity is above average. Overall, I give this 4 stars for being above average. It's not perfect, but so little actually is. This is a good little machine.

This laptop came highly recommended and I explained the two main programs I needed to run and was told it would work. Now that I am out of the country and trying to use those programs the laptop will not open them. I have spent over 8 hours on the phone trying to understand why. Hoping I can return the machine for a full refund.

Purchased a "open box" EXCELLENT condition. Unit would not start up. Took in to store, they could not get it to work at all. Did not have comparable unit so ended up with refund. Wasted a lot of time and effort on this purchase. Do not suggest buying anything shipped to you.

    Fast & Long Battery Life

Portable, fast and long battery life! Dell hit it out of the park with this one! It's almost "instant on" like a Chromebook and with the Dell phone companion app once you pair your phone to it you can text and receive calls via your computer. Dell has limited their "bloatware" to what I consider really useful additions that for once I'm not going to delete. The keyboard and mousepad are very responsive, and there are plenty of ports for all devices! HDMI output for a larger screen and the ability to use the device as a tablet. For a portable powerhouse you can't go wrong!

    A snappy laptop

This is a nice little laptop for the money. It has a beautiful screen in a thin, lightweight form factor and the performance is snappy. I love having the fingerprint sensor to unlock it like a phone. I can't wait until all machines have that. There also wasn't too much bloatware that came on it like some other brands have. I only had to uninstall a few games and miscellaneous things I'll never use. The keyboard is comfortable and I'm able to smoothly type on it. The only downside that I've found to this laptop involves power and the battery. The battery life is a little on the short side compared to other models. Also, the power brick seems to be a little small so it definitely heats up while charging. I was using the laptop while it was charging and noticed both that it was taking quite a while to get back up to 100% and also the power brick was very warm. Neither of those issues is a big deal to me, though, so I'm happy with it so far. I think it's a good quality laptop for the price.

This is a great little laptop. It's light, fast and has a wonderful display. The resolution looks great and the touch screen is very responsive. It has features of more expensive laptops, such as Windows Ink support, USB C, HDMI and one USB port. The charger is small and the device is very light. I was impressed with the back lit keyboard and the responsiveness of the mouse. Installation was a breeze, except for an issue on Microsoft's end for registering the Windows' copy. If this happens, try it again at a later time. The laptop charged quickly and I haven't had a chance to see how log the battery lasts yet. It is shipped with a generous 256 GB SSD drive, so it is fast. Startup is seamless and quick. The configuration comes with 8 GB of RAM, which is great for almost anything you would need for home and small business use. I wouldn't use it for programming or intensive graphics use, but it's great for most other purposes. The light form factor and the completely bendable hinge makes this a great substitute for a tablet. It isn't much larger and it's very light. This will become my new backpack laptop and traveling laptop. It's a smart configuration of important options for most users and students.
