Haters Gonna Hate No Matter The Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Spend some time with this laptop and you can make it great, especially with all of the cool settings on the chip, in the bios, display, battery and wireless adapter. The wireless adapter is excellent! Much better than the Qualcomm on the Ryzen 7 version of the 7535 from Dell. 866mbps vs 433mbps on the throughput so if you have a fast internet connection then you will notice that difference on the speed. 16GB Ram and 256GB SSD...cannot complain. Once you get past the main round of major windows updates you're good to go. Don't go freaking out at 100% disk utilization during the updates, it goes away and returns to normal. The bios will need updating too which is normal and will take a short bit to complete. The Dell Firmware will need updating too so just be patient. Some of these reviews it seems ANY heat at all is problematic which is really unreasonable. Heat is a byproduct of energy. This isn't Apple so your CPU isn't secretly throttled down to avoid heat. The lap issue. Don't put any laptop in your lap, period. Yep, counterintuitive but every chip emits a tad of radiation and heat so you WILL eventually feel it and if you are blocking the air inlets which on this laptop are large and long on the underbelly (a good thing), you are going to get the laptop to heat up, so don't do it. Don't put it on your bed or a blanket either. Can you though? Sure but again, blocking air which this model is labeled as 'air cooled'. I love the exhaust ports on the rear behind the lid which would be the top in tent mode. Way smarter than the Dell 7535 Ryzen 7 12GB 2 in 1 model. One this every reviewer seems to miss is the really cool, slightly magnetized lid. It's closed when closed and it takes a slight amount of pressure to disengadge the magnets. not crazy or anything but I really like that about this model. The next one is cache...8MB cache on the L3 and 1MB on L2. That is 2x and much cache as the Ryzen 7. You are not going to notice it that much but if you will if you are looking for it in performance. This laptop is simply a bit smoother than the 7535. I don't need a 4k monitor so full HD is cool enough for a 13" screen on a laptop. I really enjoy the bois settings too. I get a lot more options to play around with the speed step settings. The display hinge is stiff and does not wobble at all when you poke it, not even at the slightest. Next is the memory, 2400mhz ddr4 is a pretty sweet match for the chip but I personally would not mind lpddr3 to stretch the standby time out a bit since I use my laptop less than I use it. Most 8th gen chip alptops are using this frequency memory so I am glad it's in this laptop while not breaking the $1300 range to get itlike the HP spectre or the Dell XPS. I really hope this laptop lasts me. In the end it is an incredible buy and if you are a student it's even better. But if all you do is watch Facebook or Instagram load and watch Youtube then you don;t need this much power. I do not agree with the one star reviewsand this is really between a 4 and a 5 because the 5 would really be a 9 hour battery. So ignore those who hate it all no matter what and slander every brand because they don;t know what they are doing and appreciate the fact that you are getting a mountain of power in a sub $1000 machine. Oh last thing, I did have to get updates from Dell which I am always sketchy about but they all worked with no issues unlike the AMD graphics card update from Dell for the Ryzen discreet card. I think that is worth mentioning. I recommended to someone to never get updates from the manufacturer outside of the bios but in this case I got the serial I/O, Bios and the display driver after all the windows updates and they installed without a hitch. Pretty sure I just Jinxed myself but I would recommend this laptop to anyone not looking to break the bank. Dell Support...okay real quick here. I needed it...nice lady, quick response on the phone, remote connection. This was for my 7537, not this 7373 but worth mentioning because it's about Dell support. When I called to address the wireless ac adapter running at 433 and not 866 she thought it was my internet speed and no matter I said, she kept testing my internet speed even though throughput of the adapter was the issue. The suggestion was to turn off bitlocker on the SSD and factory rest my laptop. Not a good recommendation but she was very nice and there was nothing on the machine so I really didn't care what she wanted to try. I was up for anything. Point is, the actual technical service was off the mark. Go get the driver from the recovery partition and see if a reinstall of the factory provided adapter prior to the update cures it. Never suggested that, just kept running internet speed tests. I ended up dropping the extra money, returning the Ryzen 7 12GB 7537 and getting this 7373. Very, VERY happy with my decision. Thank you Dell. My first, well second Dell!

Very fast computer and dependable!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am exceptionally happy with my purchase. Everything works well. The computer is super fast with the intel i7-8550u with up to 4.0GHz cpu. The battery life is fine, it last for hours but I don't game on it so it probably is for moderate users and not gamers. I would totally recommend this product. You'll be very happy with it, specially the performance. Happy buy guys. You won't be disappointed.

Could be a great 2 in 1
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Laptop performs great!! 8th generation i7 plus 16 ram makes able to tackle everything you can throw at it. I only gave it 3 stars because the battery is dog feces!! I was listening to music on a fully charge battery and the computer died in a couple of hours. Not ideal for a portable computer.

Great Laptop But with Two Major Flaws
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in need to a lightweight, portable laptop to take with me on the go. A knowledgeable Best Buy worker recommended this particular model to me. I hadn't bought or used a windows laptop since 2013 because of buying my first MacBook Pro and never ever having a problem with it that I can think of. Since 5 years had passed I really wanted to give a windows laptop another try because they're more affordable and you tend to get more features for your buck. This Dell Inspiron seemed to be the sweet spot on specs for me so I bought it. Setup was very easy and I absolutely loved the keyboard and the laptop felt really sturdy and it was relatively lightweight. I was pleasantly surprised how fast the computer boot up which is due to it having an SSD and loved being able to sign in with the webcam identifying my face upon start to log me in. Browsing through webpages was quick and snappy and first impression was really good. But there is where the glory ends unfortunately. First and foremost like others have stated this laptop does get hot and the fan will kick on and run and this happened with just normal browsing ( no gaming, no youtube video watching, etc) I mean just normal browsing and nothing running in the background. Second big problem and this is an absolute deal breaker for me. The battery life is terrible! I was lucky to get three to four hours on a full charge and again all I done was just normal surfing the web and nothing intensive. I did do all of the windows updates as well as the Dell system updates, drivers, etc. As a matter of fact the BIOS updated as well. It took two hours to get all of these updates finished when I first logged into the computer and set it up. I just wanted to stress that point because I see dell support recommending to do these updates as a fix in response to other reviews that mention these same problems. Its too bad this laptop has such poor battery life and that it heats up for no apparent reason because other than those two problems I really liked this laptop. In the end, I returned it back to Best Buy and end up buying another MacBook Pro 13 inch. I realize that money doesn't grow on trees and I'm by no means an apple fan boy but lets be realistic here. If you pay out this amount of money for a laptop you expect it to have decent battery life and not be heating up and getting hot whenever nothing intensive is being performed. To be honest I have never had these problems with a MacBook and so far my new MacBook hasn't disappointed. My advice is do your research and choose wisely . Pay attention to the negative reviews and try to determine if those negative reviews have a pattern to them. For example if you read the negative reviews on this particular laptop you'll notice how so many have complained about bad battery life and overheating issues. Not everyone is making this stuff up.....my point is there has to be some truth to it and in my case there was.....I should have chosen more wisely and listened to my gut instinct.

If your computer gets too hot for you again we'd recommend the following:
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

Dell Active Pen PN338M works with my laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My review is mostly to confirm that the Dell Active Pen PN338M definitely works on my version of this laptop (Inspiron 13 7373 2-in-1). To be clear, my laptop had a sticker on it which stated "Active Pen Support" so if yours doesn't have that sticker, the pen might not work. I wasn't sure which pen my laptop would support, and Dell wasn't much help on this matter. Also the information on this laptop at BestBuy.com seems to have evolved over time, with information about it working with active pens removed from the website description (around the time I purchased the laptop on July 27, 2018). I found an unboxing type video online for a version of this laptop that actually comes with the pen (this varies by geographical region) and noted the model number of the pen it came with. I took a chance that it would work for mine and ordered it directly from Dell. I got it yesterday, and once I installed the battery the pen worked right away without needing any type of "paring". This is my first active pen, so I can't really compare it to others, but so far it seems pretty cool and responsive. I haven't used a Bamboo Ink pen (which I believe is supposed to be compatible with this laptop), but unless it offers something more, I'm happy with this pen that costs half of what the Bamboo Ink pen cost. To be honest, I'm not sure how much I will actually use the pen on my laptop, but I did want to get the pen since the laptop supported it. Otherwise, so far the laptop has been fine. It seems fast and its size makes it very portable. I do wish that the SSD drive it came with was PCIe based and not SATA, but I plan on replacing that as prices drop. I don't use it on the battery much, so can't say anything about battery life. At this point, I'd buy this laptop again if I had to do it over. Time will tell if I feel the same way in a year or so...

Really fast, handles moderate games well
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With the I7 core and 16GB ram, this computer rips through surfing, multitasking, moderate gaming, etc. And, with the SSD, it loads quickly and runs fast. The display is bright and vivid, with good color rendition, and can also be adjusted to personal liking. Although the computer is a bit smaller than a 15.6", the keyboard looks to be full size. The key tavel is good, and I find no flex in the keyboard or surrounding area. Backlit keys are a must for low light use - and there are 2 brightness levels. Ports are adequate, but would have liked to see an additional USB port on the right side. Trackpad is good - but it is a bit exacting as to the position for right and left click area. Sound from the stereo speakers is reasonable for a laptop, and even better than some larger laptops. With headphones, the Waves audio really comes alive. The hinges are great - stiff enough to hold display in position well. There wasn't too much bloatware installed, and that was easily removed. Updates went well. The laptop can get quite warm around the top of the keyboard under heavier use, but that is easily cured with a laptop cooler with a fan. Only real negative - not the best battery life. I must say, to the reviewers that have given a poor review due to "fan noise" - or similar - should be disregarded. If there is truly a manufacturing defect, an exchange should have been made to give a fair trial...

Nice build quality... but....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this up at my local Best Buy the other day, and the specs are great, screen looks great (to me it is above average for 1080p). I ran into what I would consider serious issues with audio on the notebook when the cpu gets busy (not maxed out, but just even opening tabs in chrome - sound goes to static). Was able to reproduce the issue without hassle. Now, this is a quad core i7 with 16gb of RAM, and the audio is cutting out with a bit of CPU overhead, which isn't right. It is unrelated to speakers (tested with and without headphones, same result). Dell's suggestion? Return to factory for repari, 10-14 working days. Remember now, this is within 24 hours of purchase. I like Dell generally speaking, but man... not a great start for me. The machine feels good, is sufficiently light and small (the bezels are much reduced from older Inspirons). This is a nice little computer, I just wish I could listen to music AND work at the same time. Everything else seems 100% on this model. Based on some other reviews, this may be a problem with this model. For those that are going to ask anyways - everything is up to date in terms of BIOS, drivers and Windows. Ran into a three ring circus setting up tethering on windows with my Android phone (BSOD every time on USB) but found a fix online. I don't think this one is Dell's fault. I kindof wish it was a USB C charger, but beggars cannot be choosers - I am taking this back before I figure out if I can charge this on USB C.

Do not buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just bought this over the XPS because I thought I would save myself a few hundred bucks and I totally regret. The battery life on it is horrible, the fan kicks in even on the smallest task like writing an email and it is very loud. Worst thing about it is the Wifi. It is very slow and drops connection constantly. Going on Dell forums I then find out that this is a very common problem with these computers. As of right now, just about 3 weeks into owning this computer, it is almost unusable. Also can't even use it for watching movies or music because the speakers crack at even the lowest volume level.

Nice Computer - Loud Fan
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really liked this computer. Very easy to set up, great size, and excellent speed. However, it is of very poor design for air intake and the fan constantly runs. You'll know when it is on too, as it is very loud. I thought other complaining of this might be doing something wrong, but they probably were not. Airflow was hardly considered in the design. I also purchased for the USB C connection, however it doesn't appear the be working. And not having the ability to connect to my dual monitors is a big concern. I will be returning this unit ASAP... and I got it the same day I am making this post.

We're sorry to hear that your computer is louder than you had hoped it would be. We'd recommend that you update the BIOS on your computer in order to help with the system noise. An out-of-date BIOS can cause loud fan noises by having an outdated temperature table for the system. Refer to update BIOS and follow the instructions to update the BIOS on your computer.

Great features but won't come out of sleep!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is the best value..bar none! Nice display, great processor, ample memory, backlit keyboard, 2n1, etc. BUT, it won't come out of sleep! Actually, laptop DID work the first 2 wks, but then the laptop went thru an update & the sleep function no longer worked (keyboard lights up, but display is black). We expected this to be a quick fix w/Dell's help. Nope. 2 returns, HOURS (like total of 6 hours?) on the phone w/Dell's cust serv...even had the Geek Squad look at it (and they were great!)...no fix. 3 months later, haven't been able to use the laptop, Dell wants us to return it again! They keep sending back the laptop w/o testing it, so it always comes back w/ the same problem. They even scratched our laptop trying to remove screws. The run around & incompetency from Dell is the worst I've seen in decades. We were left feeling like the only option was legal action (you can file a form w/the American Arbitration Assoc). But first, we went back to Best Buy to see if they could help us in any other way. BB offered to take it back for store credit. KUDOS to BB!! They didn't have to do that but were so nice to help. This is why we buy at BB vs the plethora of online options. Final note: while we may have had a lemon, it is interesting to note that when we tested these laptops at 2 BB stores AND a Microsoft store, they all had sleep problems. AVOID the 7000 series!
