Power through the day with this Dell laptop. The 13.3-inch screen delivers impressive imagery every time, and it comes with 16GB of memory and an Intel Core i7 processor so that it can blaze through everyday tasks, particularly ones that require lots of processing power. Store your data on the 256GB solid-state hard drive in this Dell laptop.
Q: What's the battery life? Is there fan noise or overheating? Is it fully upgradeable?
A: Battery life is super short. I got an average of 4 hours which is definitely not acceptable for an ultrabook. There is a fan and the noise is certainly noticeable.
A: I decided to go with this Dell instead of the Yoga. Better specs and aesthetics. Thanks
A: Watch the Mobile Tech Review reviews on YouTube. Lisa does a nice job of analyzing everything out there. The big difference between this and the 7000 is that the 7000’s case is plastic and the 7373 is aluminum. That and any CPU, RAM, SSD spec differences between specific configurations. If you are looking at the XPS with i7-7y75 processor you can compare the available benchmarks to see the difference. Passmark’s scores are 8290 for the inspirion’s cpu and 3789 for the XPS. If you need processing power in a 2-in-1 the Inspiron is the better bet. Of course you give up battery capacity and there is fan noise when it is working moderately to hard. The bios allows you to run fewer CPU cores and I would expect that would increase battery life and/or you have four power modes to choose from to adjust power/battery life balance.
Q: is it Windows 10 Home or Pro?
A: Product Features, Windows 10 operating system. If it doesn't said Pro that means is Home Edition
Q: Can the Ram and memory be upgraded?
A: This particular laptop has a max of 16gb... so no.
Q: The SSD interface is listed as SATA. Is that right? Dell web seems to say that is PCie.
A: Mine came with a SK Hynix SC311 SATA 256GB drive. It is definitely SATA. It fits into the M.2 slot on the motherboard, which also supports PCIe drives. I have another recent Dell laptop which also came with a SATA M.2 drive and I was able to swap it out for a 1TB PCIe NVMe drive with no problems. I plan on doing the same thing on this laptop as prices drop. From what I have read, the 512GB version of this laptop DOES have a PCIe drive, but the 256GB versions have SATA.
A: This is one of the better keyboards I have typed on. It's quiet and flat. The backlit keyboard has 3 settings like most backlit keyboards and the keys are black with white letters, not gray/white. The keyboard does not bend in. I had 2 Lenovo's and both boards died right after the warranty expired. They conveniently stopped making them...after 2 years.
A: Unless it is really well hidden, there is no micro SD card slot on the display. There is a standard SD slot so that is accurate.
