This is one of the better keyboards I have typed on. It's quiet and flat. The backlit keyboard has 3 settings like most backlit keyboards and the keys are black with white letters, not gray/white. The keyboard does not bend in. I had 2 Lenovo's and both boards died right after the warranty expired. They conveniently stopped making them...after 2 years.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had a terrible experience with the keyboard, Hardware failure about 5 days after my Best Buy return policy expired.Keyboard input stopped working with the physical keyboard one day and a few days later the touch screen keyboard input failed, as well. I was doubtful about Dell's grasp on the touchscreen laptop technology and should have trusted my gut. I had a terrible time with Dell Support getting it repaired/replaced under the manufacturer warranty, as well. I usually love Dell Support but my experience was terrible this time around. Keep looking if you're considering this model, people. I definitely would not recommend.

Moving on, the keyboard is very structurally sound, and does not bend or dip into the chassis like similar thin and lights. This Inspiron model is a bit heavier then competing thin and lights by almost a full pound. However, doing so, very much improved the overall structural integrity of this device. As comparison to other laptops under 3lbs, there's typically more plastic hidden where the customer does not notice or the entire body is one piece of aluminum.
