    My goto device

Currently own four laptops and this one is my goto device. Have had it for about six weeks and have not had a single issue. Boots up in seconds and is very responsive even with the slow internet I have out here in the woods. Touch screen is very responsive and I love the backlit keyboard. Best part is I got it on a Dailey deal for well under $600.

    Doesn't Support an Active Stylus

I bought this computer for my daughter because it is a 2in1 touch screen and she wanted to use it for art. I purchased the compatible active stylus from DELL only to find out there are 2 types of this specific model, one with a touch screen that will support an active stylus and one that won't. The only difference is a sticker that is on the laptop. There are no different model numbers. I got this information directly from DELL technical support..You can't see a sticker on a mail order item. Otherwise the computer is good but this may cause me to send it back.

    Great computer for a student

I am very happy with my purchase. I usually don't leave reviews, but because I was frantically searching for a laptop and reading all of the reviews to make my decision, I feel like it could help somebody out. I only really need a computer for school. I'm a senior in college so I wanted something that would get me through my last semester, and also something I could use when I get a job. This laptop works great for all of my assignments. It is fast and efficient. It's also great for things that are not related to school, like Netflix and online shopping. The battery life is okay. It gets about five, sometimes six hours on a charge. I purchased it on sale for 599, but even at the regular price of 799 it is still very good for the price paid. The sleek look makes it appear to be a more expensive laptop than it actually is.

The pros and cons and brightness problems

    Posted .

I purchased this computer last week when the discount was $250.00 which was great and here are the pros and cons : Pros : 1. The aluminum case has a more upscale look then the competition. 2. Boot up time is terrific, 3. With the SSD, this lap top is quiet and cool, 4. I like the multi dimming feature of the keys, 5. This lap top is free from bloat software and easy to set up. Cons : 1. This lap top as with most lap tops that are brand new have dimmer screens that are around 70 percent of the brightness of our one and two year old lap tops. This really hampers the viewing experience for me even at max brightness settings. I have chatted with tech support and their explanation was that the manufacturers are attempting to extend batter life by dimming the brightness. One tech also informed me that there was a liability issue out there of eye damage from the brighter screens. 2. This computer is not for gaming as it is laggy. I am sitting on the fence with this one and will probably return it.

    Screen hindge issue

The Laptop has a inherent hindge problem. It will hardly last 1-2 years and the hindge will defeinitly break. I have been using this laptop for last 7 years. I works really well in terms of handling cloud related ecosystem. But it is now fixed to my work station as the hindge is borken.

    Pretty good so far

I am using from last 4 months and it has been good so far. There were couple of minor problems though. Touch-pad's "Tap to click" didn't work nicely after a month and It worked fine once I upgraded to latest drivers. I had to struggle a bit with Dell to get support for my Touch-pad issue. Couldn't find easier way to reach out. I had to blame them on twitter and they finally responded. After this is fixed there are no issues with the Touch-pad and it's running smoothly now. . I didn't face any issues with keyboard or touch screen. I like the keyboard, it works nicely and also back-lit keyboard is useful when you are working in low-light condition. Power button is in wrong place (it's on the bottom-right corner of lower panel), and there are chances that you accidentally press it while moving around your laptop. However, I felt these are minor items and still like my laptop.

A nice transition from a Macbook Air

I came from a Mac and have used both systems before, and liked Macs well enough but it was time for a new laptop and I didn't want to pay the sticker price. This one was on sale for a good price (a deal of the day) so sticker price was much more palatable. But that's not all we were looking for. One of the things I loved about Macs was the trackpad gestures, and so I walked around to all the laptops in BestBuy testing out their gestures function. I was very excited to find the ones I used most in this laptop! I also love the feel of the keyboard (probably because it reminds me of Mac?) because it feels firm but the buttons feel good. I only wish it had a numeric pad on the side! There's room for one! Opening this laptop is somewhat hard - it's very stiff so if feels like you're prying it open. However once open it's not hard to put it into tent mode or other positions at all. My geek husband can tell you all about how good the specs are but this is what I like about my lovely new laptop.

Poor battery life, little to no support from Dell

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I was hesitant to select a Dell product as they had been known as a bargain brand in the past. However, the amount of positive reviews on this computer led me to take the chance of purchasing it. It was easy to set up and fairly comfortable to use. However, the battery seems to be fairly erratic in its lifespan, sometimes only lasting about two hours, regardless of which apps or devices are being used. Other times, it can last up to five or six, but seems inconsistent and is hard to predict. Most of the time, it was being used just for browsing, with only one or two apps open at a time and no devices connected. Testing different browsers, screen brightness, etc. seemed to have little or no effect on how long it lasted. While I found the battery issue manageable, I ran into physical issues with the laptop that eventually make it unusable. One of the hinges connecting the screen to the keypad started to stick and would not rotate properly, making it impossible to switch from laptop to tablet, or to even close the computer at all. When open as a laptop, it would also not lie flat on any surface because of this issue. I contacted Dell support and was told this is not covered under warranty because I could have dropped the computer. The computer has not been dropped, and hasn't even been fully rotated into tablet mode outside of two times since I purchased it. I was offered a mail-in repair for a high cost (almost 1/2 what I paid for the computer) that would take 3-4 weeks. If I could go back in time, I would either purchase Geek Squad to have some kind of protection on this computer, or simply pick another model altogether.

    The Hinge Broke almost Immediately

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

At first, I loved this computer it is very fast and does everything I needed it to do and looks great doing it. BUT the hinge broke almost immediately... I have to use my right hand to hold the hinge with thumb and finger every time I open it or it opens unevenly and sometimes makes a popping sound. When I called for support... after an hour on the phone and being transferred to 5 different people... they told me this was a "wear and tear issue" (the laptop is BRAND NEW!) and it was going to cost me about $200 and 2 weeks without a computer. This is unbelievable. I have bought Dell computers my entire life for home and work and do not think I ever will again. When I took it to Best Buy they wanted me to send to the computer off for 2 weeks (I NEED MY COMPUTER!) and charge me who knows how much

Terrible - touch screens failed within 10 days

I purchased seven of these for my office. The machines had all the specs we wanted, and the $599 sale price was incredible. Out of the box, one of the touch screens was non-responsive. I exchanged it, no problem. Three days later, three more touch screens were no longer working. I had our IT team look at them - they said the units were defective. Spent an hour on the phone with Dell tech support - no solution. Brought them in to Best Buy, they said all were defective. I made the decision to return all 7. While they were checking them, another touch screen stopped working, making FIVE OUT OF EIGHT units on which the touch screen FAILED within 10 days. Best buy was great, at this point I was obviously done with this unit and exchanged for 7 HPs. May have been a problem on the assembly line with this batch, who knows, but that was inexplicable. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MACHINE!

Good resolution and a fast computer. The only problem is the the speaker quality is absolute garbage and I keep experiencing ghost clicks. I will just be scrolling on a webpage and all of a sudden the computer decides to click on something I had no intent on clicking on. It's extremely frustrating.
