When I got this Dell Inspiron I assumed I was sacrificing a little power for some portability and flexibility. This device is certainly smaller and quieter than my last PC. To my pleasant surprise, there was no sacrifice! This machine handles my biggest issue like a champ…Multitasking! It was not uncommon for my last PC to often have 30 tabs of a browser open, multiple instances of an android simulator, along with some sort of database or MS Word…all vying for resources. The multiple instances (up to 4) of the android simulation are particularly taxing on RAM and processing power. This is why it was not uncommon for my last PC (a decent gaming computer) to often lag, freeze, randomly shut down a program or even occasionally just crash. This machine has been dealing with all my multitasking craziness with no issues! Hooking up a 2nd monitor was a breeze as was my old gaming keyboard. Installation and setup was so much easier than my last PC. The built in speakers were fine, but I still preferred my old speaker system which, like everything else, was simple to hook up. All in all I am very impressed with this machine. Super easy to set up, powerful, fast and easy to move around when the mood strikes me. I highly recommend this machine.

I had to get this one and pay the difference in my old computer and this one. The Geek Squad broke my screen on my other. They said this is comparable to what I had before. Tell me 512 GB SSD hard drive is not the same as a 2TB Hard Drive. I am very displeased with this replacement. It cost more and is of inferior quality.

I hardly use this computer (maybe a handful of times since i bought it) and it’s still relatively new but when I do, on some occasions, the screen randomly flickers or turns off then on. It doesn’t really affect anything (that I know of) it’s just annoying. I should’ve got an iMac.

      Hello,

Thank you for your review. We apologize for the issues you have experienced with your screen flickering. We have provided steps that can be used to run a Self-Test on the screen to help diagnose the issue.

      1. Power off the Dell laptop.
      2. Disconnect any external devices that are connected to the computer.
      3. Connect the AC adapter (charger) to the computer.
      4. Make sure that the LCD (screen) is clean (no dust particles on the surface of the screen).
      5. Press and hold the D key and power on the computer to enter LCD built-in self-test (BIST) mode.
      6. Continue to hold the D key, until you see color bars on the LCD (screen).
-The screen displays multiple color bars and change colors to black, white, red, green, and blue.
-Carefully inspect the screen for abnormalities.

If your monitor still remains black, this link can be used to help run further steps and provide more in-depth information: http://dell.to/2XeDTdr.

Set up of the Dell Inspirion was easy - I just had to put batteries in the mouse and keyboard and plug in the power cord. Cortana walked me through the rest. The computer includes a retractable camera and log in can be done either by facial recognition or a PIN. The camera can be left in the up position, or pressed back into the top of the monitor for privacy. When I ordered it, the general description said 1 USB port and I was concerned that there wouldn’t be enough ports. But it has a total of 4 USB ports, 2 HDMI outputs, an SD slot and an audio out port. The screen size is just right for me at almost 24 inches. The monitor can be tilted up to 25 degrees, which is nice. It is a touch screen, but works equally well with a mouse. The touch screen is useful for doing markups with a digital pen. The digital pen was not included, so I haven’t tested out that feature. It comes with built in speakers at the bottom edge of the monitor that work very well. I installed 2 printers – a Canon and a Brothers. The Canon install went very quickly, but Brothers took about an hour to download the installation software. Then said it couldn’t download the file. It worked, however, on the second try. There were a few negatives, the biggest being that it doesn’t have a CD/DVD drive. Also, the keyboard is too flat for my liking. Start up/Wake up is very quick but individual applications load slower than with my 2011 HP Pavilion with Windows 7. For the features and price I expected it to be faster. Any other negatives have to do with the default web browser, Microsoft Edge, and Windows 7 (which I prefer) vs Windows 10. Also, the HP Pavilion came with free Microsoft Office Suite software and the Dell Inspirion has a free 30 day trial, after which one has to pay $10/month or purchase the software.

The computer arrived with no visible damage but would not turn on although the indicator light did illuminate. It was returned to Best Buy Geek Squad and they verified that it was broken. A replacement was not available at the store and there was no replacement available on-line. I've been a Mac user for many years and was finally convinced to buy a pc. I was very disappointed. I will continue to remain a Mac user.

I mainly used this computer for browsing the internet and a bit of light gaming on low settings. This computer flaunts a 10th generation i7 Intel Processor that has Intel’s “Turbo Boost Technology” which basically means it speeds up your processing power (up to 4.90 GHz) and it does it all flawlessly without any user input as long as the temperature and power conditions are met. In other terms this computer won’t be replaced for a long while. Not only does it have a fast processor but it boasts a nice chunky 16 GB of RAM. That means you can run programs like Google Chrome that take up 99% of your RAM till your heart’s content! The best part is that it has a 512 GB SOLID STATE drive. This means the drive has no moving parts, and that means faster transfer times when moving or copying extremely large files around. The cherry on top was how Dell took the users privacy into consideration. Especially as a tech giant and understanding the way the internet works, they so cleverly placed this neat little webcam that sits inside the body of the computer. Push it down and it reveals itself, push it down again and it hides. It is super simple, discreet, and no need for electrical tape to give you peace of mind. Buy it.

Computer has been freezing up since I bought in January. I've been on with Geek Squad 8 times... NO help they just keep updating and trying to up-sell me tune-ups and more diagnostic programs. The only way to unlock freeze is to completely unplug power. I've only used this 3 months and only have one program MS 360 on it (Which I have never used due to freezing-lock up problem). I now have to take it back to store, hoping that I can return. Keyboard. The keyboard is very "thin & light and cheep feeling. Keys need to be punched hard to work. The system is a good looking system but not happy with just good looks. I pray they honor a return in full.

    Sleek touchscreen desktop

This desktop is beautiful. The white and silver/gray accents really make this stand out compared to other options on the market. The speaker bar is great and really projects sound well if you want to watch movies or anything. The touchscreen is so responsive I find I rarely reach for the mouse at all now. The keyboard includes a 10 key which is a plus as I use excel and need to quickly enter numbers. The screen is a great size while still maintaining a low profile on your desk. There is next to zero glare on the screen which is a huge improvement over our last desktop. The inclusion of a antivirus made the setup out of the box super quick and easy. My only real complaint is that the WiFi disconnects when you lock the computer and it seems to take a long time and often needs to have the troubleshoot option run in the internet settings to get connected again. I haven't figured out if it's an issue with the desktop itself or a setting on the newer wireless system being used in the house. In general I would highly recommend this option to people looking for something more stationary than a laptop.

Got this to replace an older HP laptop that I had been using in a small computer/office nook. I did not have room for a typical tower set-up so this was a perfect solution. Display is beautiful- great resolution and no lag. Touchscreen is a nice feature and not overly touchy. I find I still use the wireless mouse more just out of habit. Wireless mouse and keyboard sync well and respond quickly. Process speed is very nice- faster than any of my laptops or work computers. There is ample storage, but it's always easy to add more if needed. Sound is very good quality and better than I expected. I'm sure it would be better with nice external speakers, but I don't have the need. Overall, I love the sleekness and the fact that there is only a single cord (the power cord) for this whole system. It looks great, set-up is extremely easy, and performance is fantastic.

      Dear Valued Customer,

We're sorry to hear about the responsiveness issues that you've had with your computer so far. We'd recommend the following steps to help diagnose the issues that you're having:

      1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
      2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
      a) Start the computer.
      b) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
      c) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
      d) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
      e) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete step 3 to see if you are able to resolve the lockups or freezing.

      Hello wonderwoman1234,

Thank you for your review. We apologize for the issues you have come across with your Inspiron. We recommend you ensure you have the latest BIOS, software, and drivers installed by running the SupportAssist application that came pre-installed with your PC. This will also perform diagnostics to determine if you have any errors present with your system.
