Bad advice

The second one did the same thing but was able to reset to factory setting and reset up It's ok but really wanted a 17" laptop sales associate said they were fazing them out because the smaller ones are selling more because no one wants to carry a bigger computer around.

They wiped the computer and replaced the power cord and ac adapter, which there were no problems with. So far I am getting an error when trying to add an email accoumt which is said to be connected with the crashing. I have been greatly inconvenienced and they didn't even address the problem. When I tried to contact them again they wanted to charge me $100 for software diagnosis. How is it my expanse when its under warranty and isn't a stable system.

This laptop gives me the memory and power to develop and implement e-Learning well. I am an instructor and studying for a law degree, and this laptop has been easy to use. Also, the graphics and screen display are really nice. I am not disappointed and would recommend this laptop to my fellow instructors and students.

Quick laptop, beautiful screen

One USB C cable connects to one monitor, then that monitor connects to the other. Easy, clean, and great set up for multitasking. Have always had good luck with Dell laptops and monitors. Only complaint I have about the laptop is occasionally the fans get a little loud, but there is a setting to keep them quiet. Interesting. Maybe it'll run a little hotter and shorten the overall lifespan of the laptop? Not sure.

Good for the price, but comes with too many issues

The problem is all of the random hardware issues that come with it. I’m probably going to have to open it up and fix it myself. Within the first few hours of use, I quickly noticed that the touchpad was not working 100%, or probably not even 80% of the time, which quickly becomes frustrating without a mouse. Additionally, Dell adds a bunch of semi-inconvenient and unnecessary software that can change a lot of settings on your machine automatically and it’s incredibly frustrating to try and find the settings you want to change across the windows settings menu and all of the extra programs that dell adds on. Finally, and the worst part, is that my laptop is now not even booting properly. I now either have to open it up and spend the one or two hours trying to fix everything or take it back and spend the one or two hundred dollars to get it fixed. It’s a good machine, but get the warranty and bring it back as soon as things start going wrong.

1. At the desktop, click the Search the web and Windows box and type "problem reports".
2. Select View all problem reports to view a list of errors that have occurred on your computer and possible solutions for them, such as updating drivers, flashing your system BIOS, or checking for updates to the software.
3. Under the Source column, look for Windows and under Summary, look for Shut down unexpectedly.
4. Right-click the line item and select Check for a solution.

Great laptop!

I found out quickly that I needed a larger screen to have 2 applications open on the screen. I traded up to the 15"Inspiron which gives me the screen size I need. A very capable performer with a great display for photo manipulation and file transfers. Bestbuy holiday return policy assisted me to purchase the right laptop for my needs. Highly recommend this laptop.

Great computer but runs burning hot with noisy fan

The fan tries to cool the computer but does not . I have a dell computer at work too and it also runs burning hot if I don't shut down both laptops. Not sure we will keep it because of the noise it creates when the fan is busy trying to cool down the laptop

Thanks for your review and we're sorry to hear that your computer is overheating for you. We'd recommend the following tips to help your computer perform cooler:
Tips for Proper Usage:
1. Dell does not recommend placing portable systems directly on your lap. Due to reductions in the thickness of modern portable systems, heat transfer can be an issue.
2. Using a portable system (Laptop) on a hard, flat, non-cloth surface will increase airflow and reduce heat from underneath and inside the system.
Using the portable system on a blanket, pillow, or other types of cloth will cover up the fan cause the computer to overheat and can cause permanent damage.
3. It is recommended to use the portable system in a Room temperature of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F) with a Humidity level no greater than 90%.
4. Use compressed air to clean the vents on a regular basis.
5. Using a cooling pad can decrease heat and increase performance.
6. If you want to know the temperature limitations for your system, go to the Dell Support Website, look up your system model then open the user guide under the manuals link.

Good on paper, Issues in real life

So far, I have discovered that either the speakers or the sound card is defective and the keys on the keyboard are too small. I initially wanted to test out the intel based Xe Max graphics card, but the blown speakers and tiny keys on the keyboard are deal breakers.
