    Best Starting Gaming PC.

Just yesterday I picked this machine up at my local Best Buy. This was quiet the step up from my last one. My old computer Had 10GB ram and ran triple A games such as Call of Duty very poor. At the lowest quality I struggled to maintain 30 fps. After 4 years of owning this machine I bought a new one, the Dell Inspiron. With 16GB of ram this runs all of my games almost perfectly. With this new computer I run games such as Call of Duty on the highest setting at 1080p while maintaining 60fps. If you are new to PC gaming it is well worth it to give this computer a look.

I am currently looking to slap an SSD in this Dell after owning it for close to a year. I honestly am only leaving this review to let the folks out there know Is that this is a really solid PC for everything at a moderate level. You're not gonna get 4k out of this badboy but My girl plays most top end games on this it no problem on like medium -very high . Which is really good for a prebuilt 600 pc. It has bluetooth, dvd rw , wireless , the works bruh!!!!. Get yourself this ish, and buy an ssd. Thank me later. 10/10 would buy this on sale for $600 again. BTW this thing is so good , it retained its price from last year.

    Great Middle line Computer

I purchased about 2 weeks ago and I shopped extensively, many brands and other Vendors. I was skeptical of Dell since I never owned one. So far this is just what I wanted - price, quality and performance and I will say Best Buy sales personal knew all my answers and I had many. This computer, I can't even hear running. I was looking for a computer that had the power, speed and graphics better than a regular desktop for everyday use and surfing but not a gaming computer, even though I do a little gaming. I wanted a computer that could handle some gaming also. I matched this computer up with an ASUS 24" 3D vision monitor with 1NS and 140 HRZ. Great combo. Performs everyday and surfing tasks great plus plays and keeps up with or surpasses the speed in gaming.

    Not a GAMING computer

I went to best buy knowing nothing about gaming PC's with full intent on buying a good PC to uphold a decent amount of GFX output of some of the recent popular games like Tom Clancy's The Division. I, probably like everyone else went to the iBUYPOWER and CyberPower PC's, at that time someone approached me and asked what i would be doing with the PC. I explained to them the kind of games i would be playing and they said I would be doing some overkill if i went with those PC's and I should check out this Dell they had on Promotion. I took a look at it with a pretty hefty budget in mind and this PC was going to keep me under my budget which had me very happy at the time. It was all talked up about the RAM and how good the GFX card is and the Processor was outstanding and all of this would be more than enough to run any game I wanted to play. Well I get home and I'm super stoked to play my free copy of The Division I got with my Corsair Strafe Keyboard (which I love BTW), install the game and go to play it and you wouldn't even imagine the FPS drop I was getting even on the lowest settings. I also played a lot of Counter Strike back in the day and the new one was only $14.99 so I said what the heck i'll give it a try. The load times were terrible and whenever you pause the game or want to go back to the main menu it starts to glitch out and 30 seconds later you can exit the game ha ha. After a week of kicking my self in the butt for buying this computer I found out though a good friend and he built me a computer off of newegg.com for $850 and it out performs this computer by a long shot! The Division looks great and I can run it on Ultra high Graphics settings!! If you are looking for a computer for good multitasking this is your computer, but if you are looking for a computer to actually play video games on and I'm not talking about your 12 year old going and playing Runescape, then this is not your PC. Needless to say I returned this computer and got my money back!

Crashes on any game. Fan way too small.

I bought this computer for my Birthday. I love to game and the specs seems decent. I would play a lot of games like League of Legends or Counter strike source. I loaded up LoL and played my first match, my computer turned off on its own. I shrugged it off.... however. This computer turned itself off 6 times in the first week of using it. Finally the second week i took it to Best Buy to get it returned. The problem with this machine is not the hardware! but Dell decided to have a graphics card the size of a book cooled off by a fan the size of a penny. It was hilarious to see the tech's face as he opened the case and showed me this. I made this account for the sole purpose to warn you about this critical problem with this computer. Only computer i have ever returned in my life.

    Good PC

I have had this for about 5 months now and I think it's pretty reasonable. For some reason it had a bunch of errors and such on the first boot up but they all went away after doing the windows updates. Since then it's fine. Maybe a little noisy. Sure is fast enough for me. I play games mostly and run an Emby server from this. The 2 TB hard drive is nice and the Video Card is pretty good. 16 GB ram. It's not a top of the line PC but it does a good job for what it is. It would arguably cost you more to build a PC with similar specs. My main concern is the power supply. It's proprietary and not upgrade-able except maybe from dell in the future.

    Beware the processor

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Dell has a nasty habit of putting laptop processors into their desktops, including ones that they try to market as being good for gaming or other processor intensive uses. But these processors negate all the benefits of having extra RAM or other upgrades. The problem is, laptop processors are designed for two things: to save batteries and to prevent overheating in tight, fan-less spaces. As a result, if you try to do too much with this computer (which isn't even that much), by design, the processor will throttle itself to a fraction of its speed. And even with all that RAM, you will be using a computer that may as well be 8 years old. If you rarely do anything too intensive, then you can probably get by with this. But there are plenty of computers that are much better that cost less than this. Even if you choose to buy some extra RAM to put in yourself.

    DO NOT GET THIS COMPUTER

I bought this computer about 2-3 months before posting this review, and I am experienced with Computer technology and the building of computers. This computer is VERY poorly made. If you don't want to read the in-depth descriptions as to why it is made poorly, then just skip the rest of this review, and know that the processor and power supply aren't adequate what-so-ever for this computer. The processor for this computer is a processor meant to be used for a LAPTOP. Not a desktop. What this means is when you are playing certain games and doing certain everyday things on this computer, the processor overheats and does something called thermal throttling. This basically causes not only EXTREMELY SLUGGISH performance, but it also prevents the AMD Radeon R9 graphics card (and other parts of this computer) from working to at it's full potential. Also, the power supply for this computer only provides about 140 watts, which is NOT enough for the computer to run with the graphics card. The graphics card doesn't get the proper amount of power which it needs to run properly. Long story short, just buy another computer other than this one. It might run just fine for simple games like solitaire and Other smaller games, but for games that require a nice computer for graphics rendering, (such as World of Warcraft, battlefield, Rocket League, etc etc....) this computer is very, VERY poorly built. I am now having to buy computer parts to just build my own computer because this computer isn't suitable at all.

I needed a fast computer that could handle a lot at one time for work. After first purchasing an HP and than having it give a black screen of death 2 days after purchasing I am very glad I decided to spend the extra money and go with this computer. It is blazing fast we couldn't Be happier with it!

    Faulty computer with known issues

You get what you pay for. I bought this computer yesterday, and when I hooked it up neither the HDMI not the VGA port worked. I tried multiple cables and multiple monitors, and hooked it up according to the instructions; still no results. Then I googled the issue and found an ongoing thread on the Dell forum with previous Inspiron models with people citing the same issue. And on the forum, different people had to try different things to make it work...and some just had to send their's in to Dell Support. That means this has been going on over a period of time and Dell still hasn't fixed the issue in Inspirons, even across multiple computer models. Also, the processor in this computer is actually just a laptop processor. I looked up this computer's AMD 8800 processor on cpubenchmarks.net and found that it is actually slower than the AMD processor my desktop I bought SIX YEARS AGO. So with all this going on, I returned it to best buy and stepped up to an HP Envy with 16 GB Ram and the i7 6700. It's a little more $$$, but worth the money and it actually works.

i bought this computer thinking that i could run starcraft 2, I WAS WRONG! the only reason it did not get a one star is that it opened up and worked. dell has an issue with making gaming pc's but they are great for general use, but horrible for gaming. if you are using this computer for open/starting a business not a good choice an solitaire is about the only game this is good for!

The product is a lemon; don't buy it

Don't purchase this desktop the hard drive is defective from the manufacturer. NMD_hardware_failure and Kernal_mode_trap errors appeared within three days of using this desktop. I allowed this product to sit in the box for about a week before having a chance to set it up; set up was an easy breezy process. I didn't even have time to download and customize the desktop before the hard drive crashed causing multiple repeated unexpected shut downs. Since, I exhausted the 15 day return policy I had to drop off the product to the Geek Squad (thank god I purchased the plan; otherwise I would have had to pay extra. Just to be told that it could take up to four weeks for this desktop to be repaired or determined unserviceable to receive a refund. Well, needless to say that what not the right answer at all. According the system's hardware logs discovered during a previous remote diagnostic test by the Geek Squad, this desktop showed unexpected crash logs dating back to Feb 2016. I did mention I purchased this in Aug 2016, right!! I'm so disappointed of how the new return policy has impose a big inconvenience to my computing needs, a full time nurse who taking courses online. then to add further salt to my open wound the in-store Geek Squad tech tells me that I could always go the library for my computing needs, ugh, the nerve. Who the heck has time for that? Its been about a week and some change according to the Geek Squad's online repair tracker the new hard drive has been ordered, installed, and is currently undergoing diagnostic testing to ensure functionality. Let's hope that I only have to wait a few more days before laying my hands on a brand new desktop purchased a month ago and get to actually use the product for its intended purposes.

I bought this Dell 3656 (AMD FX Series, 16 RAM, 2T HD) to replace my Dell 560 (duo-core 4 Ram, 1T HD) and thought I was making a big upgrade. WRONG! This computer stinks. Its SLOWER than my old computer and the fan keep reeving up louder and louder just doing the most basic tasks. I don't even play serious games or anything. I thought perhaps it was just a lemon or Windows 10, but now I see several others had the same experience. I tried looking through the task manager to account for what was maxing out the CPU, but it was hard to tell, as I was hoping I could adjust some settings, turn off virus software and be OK keeping this computer, but no luck. Bummed out, as between work and home, this is my fifth Dell - all good experiences until now. Plan to return.

I rated it a one star, only because it showed up under gaming desktops and it's def. not a gaming desktop. I couldn't hold up a stream at all, it wouldn't even record in 720p at 30fps (not on stream) without the video being choppy or changing colors the whole time recording. It's good, just not good for gaming, recording, or streaming.

Not only did I buy this Piece of Ship, but I wasted 5 hours of my day with Dell support trying to troubleshoot the problem. Bottom line: can not download anything worth a da*n. On speedtests it times out or maybe gets a score of 0.5 mbps. My older HP and my 2 sons computers all clock in at about 21 mbps. Stay away and don't waste your time on this worthless junk!
