|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This my second Dell laptop, so the comparisons are being against a two-year-old Dell. Considering I’ve owned a Dell, I felt like I knew what I was expecting. Guess what, I was still surprised. Dell is trying to mimic Apple with a close comparison to the unboxing of an IPhone. The laptop is inside a white box and a slot for each accessory under the laptop. With the silver top on the Dell, once it’s opened it has a white inner surface that has a nice smooth texture. My other observation is the mousepad is wider than my previous Dell. Also with my previous Dell, the speakers are on the bottom side of the laptop. On the XPS, the speakers are actually are each side of the keyboard on top. As I begin to type on the XPS, I notice that I’m hitting some the keys incorrectly. This is when I notice that the caps lock, tab, backspace, enter and shift keys are wider than my previous Dell. It’s a little irritating, but I’ll adjust. Once I have the XPS powered up, I notice the entire screen is being used versus having a black bar and the logo at the bottom of the screen. Checked out YouTube and some streaming video pages and this laptop is fast. Every program downloaded with nonstop speed. The Core I7 is no joke. I’m impressed. This laptop can be used for both gaming and work. The keyboard lights up as you type and/or use the mousepad. It’s a little thing, but I like it as I use my laptop at night on many occasions. It also has a feature as it fades off about 10 seconds after you finishing typing or scrolling. I can’t find any faults with the XPS. It looks great and it’s powerful. 5 out of 5.
