For the one shag rug we have it does not vacuum easily; however we use the attachment for cleaning stairways to clean this rug. It works just fine.

I moved from a small apartment to a decent sized house and wanted something else without a battery. This is by far the best vacuum I’ve ever used.

I HAVE ONLY OWNED 2 IN MY LIFE AND STILL HAVEN'T REPLACED MY 2ND WITH THIS ONE. JUST GRABBED IT BECAUSE IT WAS A FANTASTIC SALE!

The dyson would not stay upright when finished vacuming. I did not notice the sunctioning power between the two and the dyson was much louder. I will continue with my shark.

If you were attempting to move the machine while not in use, it is meant to be picked up by the handle of the cyclone and not tilted back or it will recline into the vacuum position.

Frustrating at best. Over engineered/not practical

The unit has a lot of suction, but that is its only good quality as it really SUCKS at everything else! Everything about this is wrong. Can not remove hose wand with out unraveling full cord. On off button set so low it takes two appendages and bending at the waist to start the machine.(Why not a button on the handle were my hand already is?) IF you attempt to use the hose be prepared for the fight of your life! And to get another appendage ready to hold back the machine that is attempting to murder you, so now we are talking two arms and a leg just to be able to stretch out the insanely tightly wound rubber hose. Be prepared for a huge task of engineering feat as you must regularly dismantle the entire unit to wash clean and replace filters or you loose the only good part of this unit the suction. I have never cursed a machine so much as I do this every single time I pull it out. I only became aware of the failures after the return window had expired.

Posted .Hi Max, this is Kelly with Dyson. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 was engineered for homes with pets, with features that dig out dirt, hair and allergens. Dyson Ball Animal 2 does feature the strongest suction among our uprights - 270 air watts, for tough tasks across all floors. With regard to the hose, I can confirm that we would essentially expect the hose to become more flexible with time and use. A few tips we can provide would be attaching your accessories directly to your hose, as this will also help expedite stretching the elasticity of the hose. Dyson vacuums are engineered with versatility in mind and attachments may be used on either the wand or directly on the machine itself for added convenience. Also, when stretching the hose out we would recommend starting by stretching the part of the hose that is nearest to the vacuum first when extending this part to clean your home. We would actually recommend checking to ensure the wand is not obstructed and that the hose is not sucking into itself as the hose is not something we would expect to be an issue during use.

IT IS A BIT HEAVY TO CARRY AROUND SO I AM GLAD THAT I CAN DO AN ENTIRE FLIGHT OF STAIRS WITH OUT EVER HAVING TO BRING IT WITH ME.

Does a great job with dog hair on both rugs and floor. Easy to maneuver and love the self adjusting floor height as you go from rug to floor etc.

Due to physical disabilities I can only use 1 hand to maneuver it and my strength isn’t as strong as most. How it performs is wonderful but hard for me to use

I have been using it for 4 months and it has actually taken the luster and dulled the color from my living room carpet. There is no height adjustment for the head assembly. When I spoke with Dyson customer service they suggested I drill holes in it. This is an expensive vacuum that should not need holes drilled to work properly. What does that do to the warranty? It works great on like linoleum and hardwood. But I have several carpets and I must have my husband vacuum those, and he struggles.

The Dyson Ball Animal 2 features Dyson ball technology, which allows for easy navigation with the turn of a wrist. The cleaner head on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. Ultimately, the machine being hard to push will likely be the result of suction forming an air tight seal between the cleaner head and the floor.

Filter is easy to clean but the way it clicks to stand up doesn’t always engage so watch out for it falling over.

If you don’t want the hassle of having a belt driven vacuum and having to replace the belt when it breaks down, I recommend this one.
