It’s heavy, clunky, difficulty to move. It often doesn’t click in place in order to stand upright and then crashes back (unless you catch it). It doesn’t work on all rugs/carpets. If the padding is thick and the pile is low, suction will not adjust and it’s actually impossible to use (I’ve read reviews where people instruct that you must make your own modifications in order to “raise it” so that it lessens the suction: which I find wholly unacceptable for the price of this vacuum that having to “modify it” yourself is the only option to make it work correctly (and refuse to do so). The hose removal and return is incredibly frustrating and not a seamless process and for all the hype, this dyson is NOT intuitive at all. The plastic components and parts are so thin and flexible that I have no idea how this will last more than a few months. I purchased this as a surprise for my husband so I didn’t use his Best Buy card, I just was purchasing and that was that. I wanted to return but wanted to give it another week. Within the same month this goes on sale from 500 to almost HALF the price. Because I didn’t use my husbands Best Buy account, I was past the 15 days for a price adjustment. I’m incredibly disappointed with the price adjustment policy and even more so with this garbage model. Stick to Shark. (On a side note, I never write scathing reviews, but I whole heartedly stand behind this model being absolute garbage and if anything, do not buy for anyone older, there’s no way they could maneuver this vacuum - my husband and I are very tall and athletic and early 30s, this vacuum model is nonsense). It’s unfortunate because we go through multiple vacuums (and own multiple vacuums at a time) and I finally decided to try a Dyson model, and it’s a failure. Not to mention it was slashed to half the price within the same month I purchased and could not get a price adjustment. Massive bummer.

I am not a weakling. I can lift a 5 gallon jug of water. I went online to figure out the problem and I learned it is hard to push and pull on rugs that have padding underneath. There are a couple of people who found ways to fix theirs but those did not work for me. I will call best buy but I will probably have to take it Dyson to fix as I waited to long to find out what is wrong. I do not recommend this vacuum at all. I was so excited to get a Dyson and now It is just a waste of money.

Detaching and reataching the hose from the handle for attachments is not that great.

With regard to the hose, I can confirm that we would essentially expect the hose to become more flexible with time and use. A few tips we can provide would be attaching your accessories directly to your hose, as this will also help expedite stretching the elasticity of the hose. Dyson vacuums are engineered with versatility in mind and attachments may be used on either the wand or directly on the machine itself for added convenience. Also, when stretching the hose out we would recommend starting by stretching the part of the hose that is nearest to the vacuum first when extending this part to clean your home. We would actually recommend checking to ensure the wand is not obstructed and that the hose is not sucking into itself as the hose is not something we would expect to be an issue during use.

The experience you've had with the machine not locking in to place sounds rather unusual.
There will generally be two clicks that you should get when putting the vacuum in the upright position. These clicks are not always noticeable unless put into the upright position at a slower speed. I would recommend putting the unit into the upright position at a slower pace in order to listen to the clicks. One click will be the wheels of the vacuum going into place. The second click will be the wheels locking into place. It is important to ensure the second click occurs as without the second click, stabilizer wheels are not able to lock securely into place. However, if you are having trouble locking the machine upright after cleaning, your machine would not be performing as designed.

Within a month, we decided we had to replace the Dyson. It is not as maneuverable as the Shark, takes a lot of force to move, accessing the wand and accessories is not an easy to access and, despite being a little heavier than the Shark, the components feel "cheap". It is an "awesome" looking appliance, but just did not fit our needs.

The cleaner head on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. Ultimately, the machine being hard to push will likely be the result of suction forming an air tight seal between the cleaner head and the floor.
