Posted .Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your Dyson Ball Animal 2 staying locked in to the upright position. There will generally be two clicks that you should get when putting the vacuum into the upright position. These clicks are not always noticeable unless put into the upright position at a slower speed. I would recommend putting the unit into the upright position at a slower pace in order to listen to the clicks that occur in order to troubleshoot the problem. One click will be the wheels of the vacuum going into place. The second click will be the wheels locking into place. It is important to ensure the second click occurs as without the second click, stabilizer wheels are not able to lock securely into place.
While we don't expect issues to occur, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 5-year guarantee. We would value the opportunity to assist you, to help ensure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected]. Does not roll on med/high thickness carpet
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum cannot be used on med thickness carpets. I thought there was a problem with this product but when I called Dyson they told me that the suction was too high to work on higher pile, high end padding. It sucks the padding up to the carpet and the unit cannot roll. Why on earth would they not have a way to raise the brush???

Posted .Hi Patricia, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear that you have found the Dyson Ball Animal 2 upright vacuum cleaner hard to push. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 features Dyson ball technology, which allows for easy navigation with the turn of a wrist. The cleaner head on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. Ultimately, the machine being hard to push will likely be the result of suction forming an air tight seal between the cleaner head and the floor.

Returned
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Horrible on carpet. The suction is really good, but it “supposed” to be able to auto detect flooring, which is not the case. Once I tried to vacuum on carpet, the suction was too strong and you can barely move it back and forth. Ended up returning and will look for something else more practical with carpet. Best only for hardwood, tile, or vinyl type flooring.

Posted .Hi Tony, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you've found the Dyson Ball Animal 2 to be too loud during use, and to seem to lack pick-up. This is certainly unusual to hear. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 features ball technology, which allows for easy navigation with the turn of a wrist. The vacuum's key components have been engineered to fit inside the ball itself, giving it its sleek, streamlined profile. Dyson Ball Animal 2 features 270 air watts of suction power, making it one of our most powerful vacuums. Not impressed
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had problems with the unit shutting off. Extension hose fights you when you try to reach high places.

Posted .Hi Donna, Adam from Dyson here, With regard to the hose, this will become more flexible with time and use. A few tips we can provide would be attaching your accessories directly to your hose, as this will also help expedite stretching the elasticity of the hose. Dyson vacuums are engineered with versatility in mind and attachments may be used on either the wand or directly on the machine itself for added convenience. Also, when stretching the hose out we would recommend starting by stretching the part of the hose that is nearest to the vacuum first when extending this part to clean your home. We would actually recommend checking to ensure the wand is not obstructed and that the hose is not sucking into itself as the hose is not something we would expect to be an issue during use.

Just OK
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for the "most powerful suction" out there description however I have a woven rug with deep ringlets and it did not nearly pick everything up.

Posted .Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Your Dyson Ball Animal 2 is designed for use across both hard floors and carpet. While it does include a tangle free turbine tool, which is excellent for picking up pet hair from hard-to-reach places, we would certainly not expect you to have trouble with cleaning pet hair or other debris from your floors. Your machine, along with offering some of the strongest suction available in our upright line, will feature a self adjusting active base plate which self-adjusts to create optimal contact with every floor type. This reduces air leaks and retains more suction power at the cleaner head. To help ensure optimal performance from your Dyson, we would recommend regular routine maintenance of both filters in your machine as outlined in the user guide
We'd value the opportunity to learn more about your experience with your Dyson Ball Animal 2, to provide you with support. Please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected]. It will be our pleasure to provide support once we have received your correspondence.

More Power & More Versatility = Cleaner Carpets
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this vacuum. Makes cleaning carpet and hardened floor surfaces a breeze. With my previous vacuum I would have to spend 2x the amount of time in getting the carpets clean, especially due to my pet dog that sheds all the time. Keeping hair out of the rug was a tedious and lengthy project. But, now thanks to the Dyson Ball Animal 2, maintaining clean floors and carpets is a breeze. Lightweight and versatile, I can move the unit up/down the stairs with ease. Cleaning in corners and under furniture is a simple thanks to the powerful attachments. If you want clean floors with minimal effort the Dyson Ball Animal 2 is the way to go.

This allows it to steer easily into difficult places with a simple turn of a wrist. The vacuum's key components have been engineered to fit inside the ball itself. Dyson, still expensive, low quality
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Severely disappointed with this purchase! Currently own an older upright Dyson that still works great and thought I would buy this one for my second floor where the dogs are. (Advertised as the best with pet hair). The only thing I can say is it sucks, literally. The suction for getting up dog hair is spot on. It sucks up thin carpets, so not the vacuum for anything other than hardwood floors. The ball that does indeed allow the vacuum to swivel is heavy on the wrists. The first few times mine were hurting to support it. I can’t imagine my older mom using this as it’s too heavy. It also takes 2 clicks to stand it upright. STRONG pushes. The buttons are cheap plastic. You have to push the on/off switch with some force to get it to turn off. I thought this was a defect and even reached out to Dyson about it. They picked up the vacuum to see if it was deceptive. After 3 weeks, they returned it to me saying it was operating correctly. I was such a fan of Dyson, until now. I wouldn’t buy another one, nor would I recommend. I don’t like it at all.

While we don't expect issues to occur, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 5-year guarantee. While I understand you have taken the time to reach out for support, it does sound like your flooring may be incompatible with the suction that this machine provided. Dyson machines have higher levels of suction power - while this works for a majority of carpets, there are select fibers that may not be compatible. The air seal would be limited due to the suction power of the machine, from the result of the high suction and the self-adjusting feature.
We would value to learn more about your experience, and to look into other options for you. Please contact us directly via email at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We look forward to your correspondence.

This Vacuum Literally Sucks
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was very difficult to push this vacuum along our shag area rug and very difficult to pull back on our standard wall to wall carpet. I called the support line to see if there was a setting adjustment that would help with this. I was told this is a common complaint. He went on to tell me that this model is best for carpet that is not shag and that is at least 2 years old. The support rep stated that the carpet "needs time to settle into the pad" for this vacuum to work properly. I have never returned a product so quickly in my life. Don't waste your time or money on this vacuum.

DYSON ROCKS
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying that I have a 1900 square foot house, that has some carpeting and lots of tiles. Since we own a parrot, we constantly have lots of tiny feathers and small bird seeds everywhere. Feathers are blown around by our AC units and tracked all of the house by foot traffic. Using our current vacuum never manages to pick up all of the feathers and or floor debris. The Dyson is way better than anything that we have used in the past. It's power and responsiveness is great. We seem to feel that that our overall vacuuming time has been shortened by using this unit. There are no bags to replace and emptying the unit is a snap. The Dyson cleans up all the small bird seeds that other vacuums seem to throw to other parts of the house. NICE! Switching between a tile floor and our carpets was no problem, as this unit is self adjusting. The unit did not even blink an eye, as you vacuum from one height to another. This unit comes with a turbine hand held unit for smaller areas and stairs. I don't have stairs to try it out on, but I do have some tight spaces that the upright can't reach. That's when the hand held attachment comes in real hand. Overall, you won't be disappointed with this unit. Great job DYSON!! I would recommend this to a friend!

Cheap Garbage
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used it for over a year on both carpet and hardwood. I had a Eureka Whirlwind Hepa filter for YEARS the dark blue with yellow lift tabs. Took great care of it too. parts were super easy to replace, but I couldn't find the belts anymore so I thought I would upgrade. I've always wanted a Dyson. Slick and cool looking and as you can see. TONS of raving reviews. I was told It had better suction than any other vacuum and that it would be like my house would appear as it had never been vacuumed before. Thing was. It only picked up a little bit of dirt and dog hair. Felt like the handle was going to break off at any minute, I can't get the dog smell out of it like I could in my Whirlwind. The hose feels like if I stretch it more than a foot or two it's going to get those weird ripples from overstretching it. It's a good vacuum in some sense, but for the price tag, it's garbage. I miss my whirlwind.

Thank you for your review. This is Miella from Dyson. We're sorry to hear of your experience with your Ball Animal 2 upright. The Ball Animal 2 upright features the strongest suction of any machine, and can work on many flooring and carpet types. However, we are unfortunately unable to test our machines on every permutation out there. We recommend checking with the carpet manufacturer before using your Dyson or any vacuum cleaner.
We hope you continue to consider Dyson products for your home in the future.
