Dyson products are known for their innovation, quality, and function. This product delivers as well as most Dyson products, if not better at times. The Animal 2 is especially great for users who have pets. Included attachments make thorough cleaning easier and more convenient. Setup/Impression: Very simple and straight forward. There is not much to "setting up" and you can be up and running very quickly with ease. Very good overall impression and feel. Quality parts and build. You can feel this was made with quality parts and will last a very long time. Cleaning: I saved vacuuming and cleaning for some time to really test out the Ball Animal 2. Most of the time, the vacuum picked up material in the first sweep, but I'm generally thorough and everything was nicely picked up by the second sweep. There were times the vacuum did not pick up all the pet hair with the main unit. I then used the animal attachment which did a great job at picking up leftover hair. It is very useful for cleaning furniture and other random areas pet hair sneaks in to. All the attachments were useful and did a good job of cleaning rooms thoroughly. I did notice that hair and other materials would get tangled and mixed in the main cleaning head. However, this was minimal and much better than most other vacuums I have used. Ease: This is definitely a large vacuum with weight to it. But not more, if at all, than any other vacuum in its class. You also have to realize that quality materials make products heavier. Functions are easy to use and the user manual is simple. It has great maneuverability compared to many other large vacuums, but the larger overall and vacuum head size can make it somewhat difficult to get in to tighter spaces. However, this is not a downside to me since this is a powerful vacuum so there will be some drawbacks. The attachments help get in to spaces the whole unit cannot reach. One of the best features is the seamless transition to different floor types. I have three floor types in one level and I do not have to bend down and constantly readjust the vacuum levels. Its gentle on the hard floors and consistently cleans any surface. Very easy to use. Other notes: Comes with a super hassle free five year warranty. Dyson will literally take care of everything if something is wrong with your unit. However, at this price point and promoted quality, I would expect a longer warranty. Great for homes with allergy concerns. Summary: Cleans all surfaces very well. Attachments do their job, especially for animal hair. Easy to use. Works on all floors, with seamless transitions and consistent cleaning. Would recommend. I don't generally go for vacuums this highly priced, but I can understand why they are sold for much higher.

I hate this thing. It weighs a ton and is hard to push around. It sucks up area carpets so much, the brush stops rolling and you have to re-set it every time. It is also very flimsy and cheaply made. Buyers remorse...uhg! I am going back to Shark.

I don't like this Dyson animal as much as my older dyson animal. I really don't like the ball.

2 dogs, Golden Retriever and Lab. The beater brush gets clogged with long hair causing the hair to smoke and the motor to overheat. The resulting smell is..........unpleasant. Would not recommend, going to start return process with Dyson now and look for an alternative.

Great auction, but functionality is really the struggle here. The hose doesn’t extend easily, the handle feels wobbly due to the design, and getting the hose back in is one of the worst experiences alongside stepping on legos (which this thing will suck up).

Initial purchase had an electrical problem that blew a fuse when used for more than a few minutes. item was returned to Dyson for repair. Returned item still being evaluated - ball portion get extremely hot when operated for more than a few minutes,

The 2017 Dyson Ball "Animal 2" model boasts a few small improvements for this year - Namely a newer color scheme to align it with the latest in Dyson design language (more use of the "pewter/dark metal" finish) and small functionality improvements. I am upgrading from a DC40/AllFloors model and this new unit has a much more robust beater bar and floor head, but assembles and functions EXACTLY the same way. Even cleaning/disassembly is the exact same process with the exact same construction quality. There are a few areas of all the Dyson uprights that concern me, and this new Animal 2 unit is no different: - The change from upright/storage/beater disengaged mode to lowered and operating on floors is still a rough transition that is evoked manually by pulling down on the handle "tipping" the upright arm backward, releasing a clack latch mechanism and allowing a rocking valve to engage with the main brush head. On our DC40, which was purchased refurbished, we always chocked this up to a defect/small annoyance in that model's design, but with this brand new vacuum exhibiting the same we have come to realize its a "feature" not a "fault" for the Dyson. NOTE: This is not something that gets worse over time - In 2 years of other Dyson ownership, its never gotten worse or caused a functional problem with the vacuum. Under the capture tank, there is a service door where clogs/jams can be cleared - Its a small hinged clear door (allowing any jams/clogs to be seen before opening) - The door has the weakest hinge I've ever seen on a product in this price range! I've broken and re-purchased the part for my older Dyson many times, and this new one has the EXACT SAME FLIMSY PART!! Ugh! On that note, its important to understand that there were SOME improvements this year: - The tube connection to the tank/cylinder is much improved and seems to provide a better seal than before. - The upper wand is color-matched to the upper handle of the vacuum, giving a more integrated appearance - The old wand was colored RED which didn't match anything on the vacuum. Dyson's overall quality, despite my gripes above and a general creaky-ness to the body due to the use of hard, shiny plastics and unusual mechanisms to facilitate movement of parts, is good. While these devices feel creaky and somewhat cheap, most of this is done to make these vacuums extremely lightweight which they are for their size, and there are some very ingenious mechanical innovations. This new vacuum also seems to have a stronger suction and quieter operation - Since I'm coming from a 40-series device to a 60-series, some of these differences might be related to the model nuances. Let me be clear. This is a premium vacuum cleaner with great accessories and powerful cleaning capabilities. If Dyson can fortify the little things we would have an obvious choice on the market... Its already in a class by itself for power, weight, serviceability (both operational AND repair), I would still highly recommend but the older models will do just as well if you don't mind the older color styling.

This vacuum sucks it really good a for 8 vacuum session’s but after that it’s no use just like all the other vacuums I’m so disappointed I’m thinking not worth it not for that price

The Dyson Animal Ball 2 is one powerful monster. The last few days with the Animal has been a real test for it. We have used it from easy cleaning to putting through way more than a house vacuum should ever have to endure. First off, the packaging is very well thought out, every part is well protected for transport and I do not see anyone receiving their Animal with broken parts. The assembly took a minute to complete and it was ready to use. The only thing I do not like, and one of the reasons for a 4 star, there is no place to hold the furniture attachment, I do not like this, all attachments need to be able to stay on the vacuum. Now, on to the fun part, seeing is believing and you need to see what this can do. I vacuumed my entire house with our current bag-less and then went back over it with the Dyson. Now before the results, I must say, our current vacuum was a top brand and was very expensive 2 years ago. Once the Animal Ball 2 hit the floors, it was very evident this is a top notch device. We filled the vacuum canister within 4 rooms, I was disgusted that this was still in our floors. Now, I am really excited about this, I have bad dust allergies, and after a week, I can already notice a difference in my health at home. This Dyson product has made me a believer, I never thought a vacuum was ever worth the money, but it is. Next, I wanted to see what it could handle. I had my 4 daughters and wife brush their hair and lay it on the carpet. I then took my foot and pushed it into the carpet. I went over it with the Animal Ball 2 and it grabbed every last hair, and not one hair tangled up in the roller. For the next hour, I threw ripped up paper, crackers crumbled and more on multiple surfaces. The self adjusting height is amazing and I cannot say enough how it grabbed everything and how powerful Dyson has made this. I must say one major thing, NO BELTS TO BURN!!! I needed that on its own line so everyone sees that information, it is gold in my book. Well, all the goods, there has to be a limit, and I found it. My daughter dumped an entire box of Cheerios. I found a design flaw, the inlet is a 180 degree bend, it will clog up fast, my old vacuum did not. I hope on the next Dyson, they fix this issue. Another reason for the 4 stars, I do not like the auto legs when you press down. This is really annoying when you move the vacuum and the legs just pop up. Next, the handle, it is also the hose, myself and my wife have already pinched our fingers a few times. We have learned how to make sure we do not do it again, but Dyson may want to look at this design for the future. I gave it an official 4 stars and it deserves it. If the few issues are taken care of, it will be the best and only vacuum you should ever think about buying, period. If you have bad dust allergies, Buy the Animal Ball 2 NOW! I promise you will see a difference.

Had to return this vacuum as it has so much suction power we couldn’t push the vacuum forward. New carpet was installed over a year ago with a thick padding and that was the main reason. Figured Dyson would be the brand to go to but now own a Bissell and works great.

The title says it all. Dyson have once again truly impressed me. I'm no stranger to Dyson products, Infact my mother loves the brand which spark me to become a user of their products way before now. But each time Dyson releases a new product line its always better then the last even in new category like Super Sonic hairdryer. Dyson have released the Animal 2 which is the an upgrade to their successful Animal. I didn't think much would have improved but was I wrong. Animal 2 have even more suction then every before picking up the dirt deep down i didn't know it had, Not only that but the ease of movement is even more easy in this iteration. The device is very easy to put together as long as you follow the instructions. The build of this thing is down right top notch honestly I have no issues with the build because this thing screams of quality. Its strange to say but its like having the equivalent of Lamborghini but with vacuum cleaners. Design is nice which more in lines with the first animal but with enough major improvements to tell the differences. Color is always a bold statement and it does stand out. The durability is also great. I honestly can't believe Dyson put this much time and effort into a vacuum its insane. The tangle free turbine tool is honestly like having a smaller Dyson Animal 2, It gets dirt in places like the sofa. Stair tool is a little small but packs a major punch, I do wish it was just a little wider. The wand is probably best of the bunch so you can reach for places like a ceiling fan. None of the tools here are bad at their job and for the price tag it better not be. Again I don't know whats going on inside the ball but whatever it is it works like no other vac can. Best part of all of this is the 5 year warranty Dyson puts on it. No other OEM will dare give you parts and labor. The customer service has always been nothing but awesome. Overall this is THE BEST VACUUM I HAVE EVER USED. Nothing much to be said. Nothing much else left to say. There is Dyson and there are "the others." Do yourself a favor and get this vacuum then you would understand.

I previously had the first version of the dyson animal and after 10 years it's still going strong if that says anything about it's durability. The new Dyson is even better! The V2 is lighter and the ball definitely makes it easier to handle. I have never tried another vacuum with this much power it's amazing to see what this thing picks up. even with a 150 dog, and a long hair cat this machine gets the job done. I can't even begin to give the Dyson enough praise! Just BUY it. You won't regret it in the long run.

Vacuum frequently stopped working during vacuuming. Had to return. Then Best Buy refused to accept the return. It was a entire nightmare. I won’t be purchasing another stain product. And I won’t bother purchasing from Best Buy again either.

I have owned Dyson vacuums since the very first generation and I own or have owned every type with the exception of the compact ball floor model that is like an old canister vac. I have always been impressed with the quality of construction, but even more so with the quality of operation. I am a neat freak and I vacuum all the time. Dyson won me over the first time that I used one on my supposedly 'clean' carpets and I got out as much (if not more) stuff as my previous vacuum and they keep getting better with each iteration. Previously I had never paid the additional cost for the Animal version of the vacuums but this time I did because our new cat seems to think leaving fur everywhere is an olympic sport and he is determined to win gold. I can't say for sure whether or not the new Animal 2 vacuums better than my previous Multi-Floor+ (at least not without doing a A/B comparison of canister contents and that just seems a bit much for a regular review on Best Buy), but what I CAN say is that the rotary Turbine Tool is worth the upgrade alone. I had always been perfectly pleased with just using the furniture attachment that the Dyson normally comes with but this cuts down the time needed and does SUCH a better job! I went all over my couches and duvet with this and it was picking up everything on the first go rather than having to do multiple passes. The duvet also has a bunch of sewn in details and the previous device never seemed to pull the stuck in fur out of those bits but the Turbine Tool does! Now I don't resent my wife nearly as much for getting an overly ornate duvet cover when I was happy with just a plain printed one (bonus points for marital bliss). So, long review short: + Awesome, Turbine Tool cuts down on time spent cleaning. + Same great Dyson quality in both construction and operation. + Filters easy to clean, don't ever have to buy replacements. + Easy to operate and get all around the house. +/- Pricey but worth it, especially if you actually want things clean.

Took it back and got a shark. The shark works much better.
