But on hardwood/tile and not shag carpet this thing is a beast hungry for dirt. I was very surprised at how far I could reach with the attachments. Cleaning blinds and crown molding with ease. It dose feel and little bulky, and is much louder than other vacuums I've used.

I got the Dyson Ball Animal 2 vacuum and this thing is amazing. It took me a few minutes to get everything assembled, but once I did, I obviously couldn't help but to test it out. I did a small test using my other nameless bagless vacuum which is only a year old and vacuumed my room. Then I plugged in my Dyson Ball Animal 2, and vacuumed over the room once again. The powerful suction of this vacuum was able to pull up dirt, hair, and dust that the other vacuum left behind. I was amazed with the easy swivel action and how easy is was to get into areas other vacuums can't reach. After seeing how well my Dyson performed, it made me want to go and vacuum every other room in the house. Also love how easy it is to release to dirt/dust contents from the canister without having to touch all the nastiness.

It doesn't lie when it says it has the strongest suction. We had just vacuumed a day or two before this vacuum was delivered to us. We went back over the areas we'd just vacuumed with the Dyson and were pleased (and a little disgusted) at how much more there was to be cleaned. Our old vacuum was definitely missing a lot. The ball design really does make this vacuum very maneuverable and the hose and attachments are a good length (not too short) and very easy to use. The only small con was it's still a fairly heavy vacuum, for some reason I thought it would be lighter than it is (maybe because the design makes it look like it would be lighter). This hinders the movement slightly, but not enough to take a star off of the rating. Overall, an excellent vacuum and highly recommended.

The Dyson Animal Ball 2 (AB2) is a replacement for it. I gave the still working DC07 to my son in college. The AB2 is everything I have come to expect from Dyson. Powerful suction, excellent maneuverability, and the brush puts a very nice nap on the carpet. The large dust collector is perfect for my house. I have about 750 sq ft of carpet, and 2 dogs and a cat. This vacuum handles this very well. I vacuum every other day, and I'm amazed how much the AB2 picks up each time. Two minor things that I don't like about this vacuum are that when placing the AB2 upright after use, sometimes it locks into place, and sometimes it does not. Maybe I'm not doing it right and need to get used to it. Another thing is that there are no lights on it. This is purely a preference for me, and does not affect performance in any way. Other than that, this is a fantastic vacuum, and would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for one.

An Amazing Vacuum, with High Cost + Some Cons
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's be honest: we all know that Dyson is the Apple of vacuums. In a good way, of course. With their latest releases, we also still get the quality and craftsmanship that one would expect from vacuums costing in excess of $500. In this particular case, I'm referring to the new Animal Ball 2. I'll keep it short and sweet: this vacuum is amazing. My family had never owned a "full-size" vacuum. In fact, our first real vacuum was a Dyson V6 Motorhead that we bought two years ago almost to the day. We were impressed with it's suction power (which is 100W FYI). The new Animal 2 throws out 270W. So, for us, we were now able to get more and more debris from our carpets than ever before. It's nuts. Also, the vacuum has a big capacity. We've vacuumed our 1100 sq. ft. apartment four times through and still have yet to dump the contents. The vacuum is heavy, yet features "wheels" and the ball to roll across most surfaces. It isn't as agile as the V6 vacuum, but nonetheless can do some decent maneuvering around. The wheels aren't that rolly though, so keep that in mind; you have to do a little pushing. The cord that it comes with is long, I believe 35 feet, which is generous enough. It's easy to swap out attachments once one gets the hang of it, and the Turbine-Tool that is included (the only difference between the normal Ball and Animal variant) really make a difference, albeit how much is up to you. We have two cats and a dog, and find the hair tool really packs a punch in nabbing excess hair on furniture, bedding, etc. Speaking of suction again, the 13.3" brush-head spins so fast and features so much power that it literally makes the carpet slightly warm to the touch after going over a spot. Kind of cool, but also something to be aware of. Vacuum has no issue with harsher objects, such as tacks, nails, bobbie pins, etc. I don't recommend sucking them up daily, but it can handle it. All in all, a great great vacuum, just comes with a high price and potentially useless tool(s) for some. with cons listed below. Just to highlight a couple of potential cons: there is no locking pedal, one simply pushes the vacuum down, and pushes it up to lock. Confusing at first, but makes sense after a couple go's. Storage for only three tools at a time is sort of a downer; and the fact that there is no retractable cord is of note. If you have furniture and animals, this is the vacuum you want (wait for a potential sale though, as they constantly pop up); if no animals get the Multifloor 2. Virtually the same vacuum, with slightly less capacity and no Turbine Tool to mess with.
