Great, but a minor flaw (at least in mine)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, it is great, but one little flaw that is driving me crazy. The lock on the handle that holds it upright is not very good, so when you are moving the vac or trying to pick it up it comes out of the lock position into the use position. Like I said, minor thing, but for a $500 vac that is otherwise so well designed, it is something you would not expect to happen.

Save my time and easy to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I start to enjoy vacuuming because this product is able to get much dirt than the other I used. It also saved my time, because I used to spend around 30 mins but it didn't seem clear enough. Now, I only spent around 10 mins to vacuum the entire bedroom, family room, and living room. I impress with Dyson technology.

Expensive but Worth It
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My dog sheds continuously. This vacuum picks up all her hair effortlessly. Does not repeatedly clog. This is my second one in 10 years. Attachment makes stair eating easy as does extended hose

The best in the field!
Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We love this vacuum! Our dogs on the other hand.... ha! It does what it says and get the pet hair. Leaving no trace of it in our house! We should have made this purchase a long time ago; but hey, we live and learn right?!

Does not work on area rugs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Here is exactly what Dyson told me. Basically, this vacuum will never work well on area rugs. And, with Best Buy's return policy of only 14 days, I'm stuck with it. Oh well... Verbatim from Dyson chat... Dyson cleaner heads are designed to seal to the flooring. The area rugs are showing to not be compatible with the high suction level of the vacuum. The vacuum will require air flow through the carpets to pick up the debris and allow for movement over the flooring. As your vacuum is not moving when on this would indicate that the vacuum is effectively suctioning to the floor and is incompatible. We try to make them work on a variety of flooring types and unfortunately, we are unable to account for everything.

Posted .Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear that you've found your Dyson Ball Animal 2 to be hard to push on your carpeting. The Ball Animal 2 features Dyson ball technology, which allows for easy navigation with the turn of a wrist. The cleaner head on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. Ultimately, the machine being hard to push will likely be the result of suction forming an air tight seal between the cleaner head and the floor.
While we don't expect issues to occur, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 5-year guarantee. We would value the opportunity to assist you, to help ensure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected]. We are keen on providing you with support and learning more about your experience.

Horrible on wood and tile!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to love this vacuum so badly. When my old Shark died I decided to try making the switch to Dyson. I started on the carpeted areas of my house and was impressed. That is where my happiness ended. It cannot pick up ANYTHING off my hardwood and ceramic tile. Literally nothing. It just pushes everything around. I tried turning on the beater bar and then it picked up 1 or 2 things...and promptly shot then out the back all over my feet. While it does work well for the carpet I can't justify a vacuum of this price that only works on 1/3 of my house. I will be returning and going back to a Shark!!

Posted .Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for your review of the Dyson Ball Animal 2 Upright vacuum cleaner. I am happy to hear that you've been pleased with the pick-up and performance on your carpeting, thus far in your use. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 features ball technology, which allows for easy navigation with the turn of a wrist. The vacuum's key components have been engineered to fit inside the ball itself, giving it its sleek, streamlined profile. Dyson Ball Animal 2 features 270 air watts of suction power, making it one of our most powerful vacuums. The self-adjusting cleanerhead also raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. The experience you've had with a lack of pick up sounds rather unusual.

Worked great, super cheaply made
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me preface this review by saying the Dyson Ball Animal 2 vaccuums carpet beautifully. That's what the one star is for. Unbelievable suction, 20 year old carpet looks like new when vacuumed. The poor rating is for quality. I owned this vaccuum for 2 years, the last year was filled with constant repairs until I got frustrated and took care of the problem once and for all. I threw it away and will NOT buy another Dyson. The plastic the vaccuum is made of feels like Dyson ordered it from wish. Thin and brittle. The cleaning head (brushroll) WILL stop working and you will have to buy a new one to the tune of $80 a pop. The handle catch to keep the handle upright WILL break, as it is made out of the same junk plastic. Once this happened, it was the last straw. Into the trash. I am disappointed and disgusted that a $500 vacuum lasts 2 years. I have a cheapie hoover from the early 90s still going strong. Stay away from Dyson.

Piece of Junk Poor quality materials
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If it was possible to give it zero stars I would. I loved my animal DC 14 upright, but this ball total clean upright just doesn’t compare. The new upright is constructed with cheaper plastic. The main handle, which you push the vacuum with, twists in my hand and I don’t have much hand strength. I used to carry the old vacuum up/down stairs by the canister handle and under the base. But, now I am worried the canister handle, which is thinner and weaker, will crack. No carrying this vacuum between floors. Sadly, the material quality has declined since the DC14 (12/13 yrs). Because of the COVID, I ordered online and trusted my past experience with Dyson. That was a mistake. If I saw this in the store I never would have purchased it. Yes, the suction is still powerful, but who cares about the suction if the parts crack and break under use. I’ll be lucky if it lasts a year. The attachments are made of cheaper materials as well. Size wise it is smaller than the DC 14. The waste canister is also smaller. I had to empty it after doing the upstairs (5 rooms) and no dog, which the DC 14 accomplished without empting and dog hair. I also liked the control of the DC 14. The suction is strong and pulls the vacuum less controlled then DC14. After using it my neck was sore from pulling against the suction. I am so disappointed. The filter is also different. Instead of being a round sponge material in the top of the waste container, the new filter is tube shaped and of a different material in the center of the waste canister. Overall, I didn’t like the design, cheaper materials, or use of the new total clean Animal in comparison to my Animal DC 14.

Posted .Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to share your review of the Dyson Ball Animal 2. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 was engineered for homes with pets, with features that dig out dirt, hair and allergens. Dyson Ball Animal 2 does feature the strongest suction among our uprights - 270 air watts, for tough tasks across all floors. They are tough, so we subject them to 50,000 hours of testing and 550 individual tests – all to ensure that they can withstand a lifetime’s hard use. Buyer Beware! Won't move on carpet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beware! It will not work on new carpeting! I just bought a new Dyson Animal 2 due to very positive results with my previous Dyson Animal. Unfortunately the new one will NOT push on the new carpeting installed in my bedrooms at all! The carpet is a medium plush carpet, not particularly long pile but it's dense. I expected this new vacuum to move seamlessly from my tile floors to the carpeting, but NO it would not move. Like other reviewers have mentioned it forms a vacuum between the carpeting and the machine and cannot be pushed forward. I turned off the rotating brush and made sure the floating base plate was in the self adjustable position. Nothing helped. Yes, it works like a champ on my tile floors but it needs to work for ALL the floors not just the hard floors. I have a golden retriever and she sheds a lot! This is exactly why I purchased a new Dyson Animal 2. Dog hair, lots of it and not just on the hard tile floors. I am extremely frustrated now that Dyson has not figured out how to resolve this suction problem so that the suction can be adjusted for different types of floors. I need to use this on my carpets! The customer service representative suggested purchasing a cordless Dyson which is less powerful. This is not a good option. My home is large enough that I don't want to run out of battery half way through. So now I will have to disassemble this Animal 2, try to get it back in the box and return it to the store. I am very frustrated at this point and disappointed. Also, product information on the Dyson site does not mention that is will not work on plush carpeting. Dyson really let me down on this product!

Worthless design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do NOT buy this vacuum- especially if you have animals (LOL). Very simply a BAD DESIGN OVERALL. Small dust totally locks up the filters on this unit to the point of burning up motors and zero suction. Don’t believe me? Go watch all of the YouTube videos. We are dumping this vac and getting something better suited for —— ANIMALS. Lol. Good luck

Not a functional vacuum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum is literally impossible to push across the carpet. Maybe because of the extra strong suction combined with the self adjusting/leveling head? It's not just "hard" to push but physically not possible. Basically defeats the purpose of buying a vacuum. Poor design. Hopefully I will be able to send this back because it is awful and un-usable.
