the Animal 2 is just amazing! I have had an older dyson for the last few years. The original dyson was pretty good, but the Animal 2 just took everything to a different level.

Very good suction and very easy to use on all corners of every room.

I suppose the real test of a vacuum is how long it lasts, but I've only had it around a month. So far, it works well, but there are a few things. I was under the impression that I was buying a model that automatically adjusted between hardwood and carpet, and this one does not. You have to push a button for carpets. Also, I've seen reviews that say that it's really easy to move and almost pulls you along. That is not at all true for me. It's just as hard to push, if not harder, than my old vacuum. I also don't feel that the ball helps in maneuvering. I still have to lift the vacuum to get it into some spaces. My old vacuum, and in fact every vacuum I've ever owned, had a button to release it from the upright position, but this one does not, and so far I've had to kind of slam it down to get it to unlock. That's probably not going to last well. But in terms of actual cleaning, which is the whole point of it, it does really well. It picks up a lot of stuff. I just hope it will last as long as so many people say theirs did. I'm skeptical.

I'm not sure yet whether we're going to keep this vacuum. Out of the box the suction was so strong we could barely move it across our deep pile carpet. Way too much force was required. Doing a little online research showed many customers with the same complaint, but somebody seems to have cracked the code on how to mitigate this. Removing filter cover on the ball section, you can see where there are two arrows that are supposed to be lined up. As others have mentioned, ours from the store had come slightly misaligned. After rotating the arrow to match the other arrow, we found that we were able to use the vacuum on the carpet. It's still pretty hard to push, but not nearly as hard as it was before we made this little adjustment. This product was way too expensive to have the sort of problem out of the box. I hope the manufacturer or resolve this for future products. This machine replaced a Dyson Ball Animal from 10 or more years ago, so we are familiar with the brand and how expensive these vacuum cleaners are.

only used for 1 month, but so far it's done an excellent job cleaning our carpets and is easy to use.

I was in the market for a vacuum cleaner with good suction. After going through several vacuum cleaners, and after doing much research - I landed on the Dyson Ball. This machine is awesome when it comes to suction. My only difficulty is that it is very difficult to navigate and push. I may need to adjust my settings, but pushing this vacuum cleaner is a workout on my campus! I will continue playing around with it, but so far, I love it!!!

This is a great vacuum for normal carpet. This is literally the strongest suction vacuum Dyson has and has picked up dog hair that I didnt even see. The reason for not giving 5 stars is that it will pick up runner rugs and it doesn't really do shag carpet. I was told by Dyson on the phone that it can damage your vacuum or carpet to use it on shag. Mine seems to be okay but it is almost impossible to move on the shag or runners.

I have a large oriental rug that gets a lot of foot traffic and dog traffic when my daughter visits with her two dogs. Had this for a couple of weeks before I got around to unpackaging. I vacuumed after my maid service did their thing and WOW what a difference. Looked cleaner and pulled about 2 pounds of fine dirt and hair. Worth every penny.

After assembling the new vacuum, my wife and I used our previous Hoover (which has admittedly seen better days) on the carpet of one of our and followed this up with the Dyson. We were impressed with the amount of residual dust and debris that was still picked up by the Dyson. The ball design makes it easy to maneuver. The accessory suctioning when vacuum is placed upright was surprising at first, but is practical.

Outstanding suction for picking up dog hair. The stair and couch attachment is a great addition.

Setup instructions, could have been better. Suction is extremely powerful. Easy to use on hardwood floors, and low pile carpet. Cannot be used on high pile carpet without removing the suction plate. (easy to do) Unfortunately the vacuum is somewhat heavy. It is quite a workout to use it. We primarily bought it for pet hair, and it work well for that purpose.

Not a bad vacuum for carpets but not great on hard surface (it shoots loose dirt everywhere). And extremely annoying is that it does not have a retractable cord.

Bought this to replace an Original Dyson Ball Animal. The old unit died not from age but was in a car that got into an accident. I thought the new units improvements were more gimmick than real. Until I used it. Everything I like but even more suction. Animal hair is no problem as the original (yes I own 3 very hairy dogs). And all the extra attachments from the original work fine.

And it was well worth the wait and money. This is the best vacuum I have ever owned! It is easy to move around and cleans both carpets and my laminate wood floors with ease. I use it a couple of times a week to spot clean after the pets or guests have dragged dirt or leaves in. Not to mention the warranty that comes with it, which is wonderful. I already recommend them to everyone I know.
