Maybe not worth the price

We previously had a Dyson and it finally had to be scrapped after a decent 10-year run. We purchased the new one and while it works reasonably well, it's just not as solidly built as previous models. It's a pain to keep it standing upright, the hose attachments are not designed well, and long hair easily clogs up the rollers. It still gets the job done, but IMO, it's not worth the price tag and we'll be looking for a different vacuum manufacturer next time around.

Posted .Hi Travis, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thanks for sharing your review. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 was engineered for homes with pets, with features that dig out dirt, hair and allergens. It sounds unusual that you're experiencing an issue keeping your vacuum in the upright position. There will generally be two clicks that you should get when putting the vacuum into the upright position. These clicks are not always noticeable unless put into the upright position at a slower speed. I would recommend putting the unit into the upright position at a slower pace in order to listen to the clicks that occur in order to troubleshoot the problem. One click will be the wheels of the vacuum going into place. The second click will be the wheels locking into place. It is important to ensure the second click occurs as without the second click, stabilizer wheels are not able to lock securely into place.
In regards to the hose, I can confirm that we would essentially expect the hose to become more flexible with time and use. A few tips we can provide would be attaching your accessories directly to your hose, as this will also help expedite stretching the elasticity of the hose. Dyson vacuums are engineered with versatility in mind and attachments may be used on either the wand or directly on the machine itself for added convenience. Also, when stretching the hose out we would recommend starting by stretching the part of the hose that is nearest to the vacuum first when extending this part to clean your home. Also if you're noticing hair build-up in the brush bar of your machine, you will want to ensure that you're taking time to remove that, so that hair isn't able to accumulate further in to the cleaner head, and get wrapped around the spindles that keep the brush bar in place.

This thing barely saw 2 years worth of vacuuming maybe 4 times a month and it broke right out of warranty costing me quite a bit of repairs. Seems like Apple in a sense, funny how things break directly after warranty is up.

Never have had an issue with it turning on and is able to suck up any mess my kids can make. I had to replace my last dyson which I had for about 5 years only because I get the wand part of it seemed to not have as much suction as it once had. But who knows how many socks and legos my son made it pick up. Usually a vacuum wether is bissle or hover or any other brand will last us 8 months to maybe a year. So I’m happy when my dyson 1st one lasted for 7 and the last one lasted for 5. We tend to vacuum daily so it gets plenty of use.
