I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your Dyson staying locked in to the upright position. There will generally be two clicks that you should get when putting the vacuum into the upright position. These clicks are not always noticeable unless put into the upright position at a slower speed. I would recommend putting the unit into the upright position at a slower pace in order to listen to the clicks that occur in order to troubleshoot the problem. One click will be the wheels of the vacuum going into place. The second click will be the wheels locking into place. It is important to ensure the second click occurs as without the second click, stabilizer wheels are not able to lock securely into place.

I have a huge 100 pound black lab and a little 24 pound pug and they both shed like crazy. It's hard to keep up with, but with this vacuum I do have the ability to keep up better! I vacuum almost daily to keep up, so the only part that stinks is having to have the vacuum be down a couple days a week to be cleaned and have filters dry.
