The head unit adjusts to different floor surfaces, but the rotating brush has bristles that are too long and hard. It will EAT your carpet!! It probably works good for carpet you would find in a hotel room. Yes, you can turn off the brush, but it is a pain to do so. So the multi floor statement is misleading because only hard surfaces can handle the brush. The manuals says to check with the carpet manufacturer to see if Dyson is a approved vacuum. You would be surprised how many carpet mfg's VOID warrantys if a Dyson is used. I would only use this on tile or concrete. Maybe a good vacuum to use in the garage.
