I have wood and carpet, clean and dust free. The only down side is very load, all life ran an hid! the other thing I was not ready for is the bottom opening, I live in woods so I went out side and floosh/

Love the ball feature that makes the machine easy to drive. The hose is good for baseboards, stairs, and ceilings; however, so much suction makes it awkward to use on smaller or fragile things. I'll keep my smaller vac for lamp shades.

It did take awhile for me to figure stuff out like how to remove the extender. I was kind of overthinking the whole thing. I would buy again maybe even spend the extra money to go cordless. Love love love the fact that with a push of a button I can go from carpet to hardwood.

Incompatible with THICK/PLUSH pile carpet

The suction is powerful but it makes it hard to push and the brush would stop spinning b/c it thinks there's an obstruction but it's just my thick top of the line carpet. I called Dyson support and they explained this to me and that's it's incompatible with my carpet type. The ideal surface is Berber carpet and hard floors. In my opinion Dyson needs to do a better job of providing this information pre-purchase with perhaps a carpet type quiz (What type carpet do you have? etc.) I'm in the process of returning the machine. -Not good on thick/plush pile carpet -Good on Berber/Hard Floors

Posted .Hey there, this is Emilie with Dyson! While our upright machines do have the strongest suction on the market, this also means that they may be too powerful for some flooring types. We always recommend you check with your carpet manufacturer to see what type of machine they would recommend for your specific carpeting. For this type of carpeting, we would recommend a canister model such as our Big Ball MultiFloor Canister, as it will provide you with the same amount of suction but remove the center of gravity from the head of the machine so as not to cause the difficulty with using the machine on thicker plush carpets. It works so great picks up so much dust. I've had my first one for 5 years before it was replaced that is the best value. ive always had to replace in a year or 2. you will love it. picks up so much!

Make the investment and save time in the long run.

I love being able to see the dust I pick up. It was easy to put together and is just as easy to use. This doesn't come with any extra attachments though. You'll have to buy those separately if you want any.

WRONG the handle is flimsy but the vacuum handles like a dream. Another surprise was dumping the canister; easy one hand process. I give it four stars because it lacks a little picking up certain objects on tile.

If you own a long haired pet as I do then this vacuum is not for you. As with any powered brush bar vacuum hair will become wrapped around the brush and will need removed. But with this model Dyson missed the boat on R&D and left an open gap between the bar and motor drive so hair can be pulled in and wrapped around behind the drive and brush to the point it will start to bind and get so hot the hair and bearings will start to burn. According to the repair service tech there is no fix for this and it will just keep doing it over and over and the repair will need done several times. Dyson even told me to just keep using it and bringing it for repair. If you do not own a pet I'am sure this vacuum will work fine but is was not built for the use around pet hair hope Dyson takes another look at their product and fixes the defect
