The cleaner head on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. Ultimately, the machine being hard to push will likely be the result of suction forming an air tight seal between the cleaner head and the floor.

HOWEVER, the suction is so much that it is hard to maneuver on carpet. We had the Dyson Ball Animal 2 and you could barely push it on carpet. Returned it and got this one. Not much better. Called Dyson and they were NO HELP. At least Best Buy let me exchange it. However, they won't give me a refund re: policy. If you plan to vacuum carpet - find something else.

Amazing Vacuum!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is the first Dyson vacuum that I have owned, and I have to say that after years of owning multiple vacuums, this one sure takes the cake. This vacuum combines mobility and power without having to sacrifice anything in either department. The way this vacuum moves takes a little getting used to, but compared to the generic vacuums, it makes pivoting around corners and tight spaces extremely easy. All you have to do is twist, and the vacuum turns. No more having to awkwardly shift the vacuum and miss spots. They way that the vacuum can detect your carpet level is also an interesting concept. You also have the ability to switch off the scrubber when vacuuming bare floors. The suction from this vacuum is unmatched. I don't own the friendliest of carpets and it usually take two passes to remove all the dirt, but the Dyson basically did it in one. Even the detachable hose maintains its suction power. The amazing part is how light weight this vacuum is. I hate having to awkwardly lug a heavy vacuum up and down the starts but this Dyson weighs only 15 pounds and has a convenient handle to carry the vacuum with. This Dyson vacuum has many perks, and I really only have one complaint with it. Because it is so lightweight, using the detachable hose can be frustrating sometimes because the vacuum will tend to follow the hose instead of staying in place. Compared to how great this vacuum is, this is a very petty complaint and seems like something that would be difficult to solve without making the vacuum heavier. Overall, I am completely satisfied with my Dyson vacuum. I have no problems recommending this product to anyone looking for a quality vacuum that beats out all the other generic brands in the market.
