We would not expect for your machine to lose power or make any odd noises. Having said that, your machine does have a thermal cutout which protects the motor from burning out if an obstruction is found. While Dyson vacuums can experience a thermal cut out over time as a result of a blockage in the unit, I can confirm this would not be normal at all, and we would certainly value the opportunity to go over your machine with you to assist with resolving the problem. However it went down in suction in 6 months and eventually suction not working at all now. For a high price item, one would thinnk this should last for 5-7 years minimum. Nothing changed in vacuuming habits at our home, other less expensive models have lasted 2 years without issue and this was a BIG disappointment. Need to reach out the customer service as it is not as easy as you take it to Best Buy and they will replace it. Will update later
