Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear that you have found the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 upright vacuum cleaner hard to push. The Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 features Dyson ball technology, which allows for easy navigation with the turn of a wrist. The cleaner head on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. Ultimately, the machine being hard to push will likely be the result of suction forming an air tight seal between the cleaner head and the floor.

Hello Kurt, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you encountered an issue with your Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2. Your machine's brush bar is powered by a motor, rather than a clutch so it's unusual to hear of the experience you've had. We wouldn't expect there to be any type of squealing or squeaking noise while the machine is in use, and we'd like to go over your machine with you to help ensure that it's performing as intended. Please feel free to contact us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. It will be our pleasure to provide assistance.

Hello Robin, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that in your use, you experienced problems with the brush bar in your Ball Multi Floor 2. The cleanerhead on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. On thicker or more plush carpeting, the brush bar may sense the carpeting as an obstruction, which is causing your brush bar to stop. While we never expect issues to occur, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 5-year guarantee.

While I understand you've since returned your purchase, we'd value the opportunity to learn more regarding your experience, as we're dedicated to customer satisfaction. Please consider emailing us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

The Dyson Multi Floor 2 is an amazing machine! We have a dog and carpet, so it is very important for us to have a vacuum that is strong enough to pick up the mess that gets left behind. The Multi Floor 2 gets this accomplished with ease. It is so easy to maneuver, and it looks really nice. One thing that I find myself doubting is how long the roller attachment (attaches to the lower ball portion) will last since it doesn't seem like a very sturdy attachment. I've only had the vacuum for a few days, but haven't had any issues with it. I hope that it goes this way for years to come. It is equipped with two attachments to help clean up corners and other small areas, and attach to the vacuum in a way that blends in to the design and makes them hard to notice. Overall, I love the suction strength that it has. I would recommend this vacuum to anyone with a pet and carpet.

We bought this to replace an old worn out vacuum, and to go along with a new house that we are moving into First, it is a Dyson...all of their products are top quality. The vacuum is solidly built and stable The suction is powerful enough to grab the deepest dirt. The head adjusts perfectly for floor heights just as advertised and the ball makes switching directions effortless Attachments work perfectly, are easy to grab and stay in place when not in use Emptying the bin is also a quick chore, and makes it so you do not avoid that messy part of vacuuming Overall, we see value in every dollar spent on this new appliance It is hard to be excited with a new appliance, but Dyson made this easy We will definitely stay with the Dyson line of products - they are the best

Light, agile, powerful, slightly cheap feeling

I've had multiple Dyson vacuum cleaners over the past few years, but this is the first I've had with the ball setup. I didn't think it'd make a drastic difference in maneuverability, but I was dead wrong. Coupled with the slight frame of the vacuum, this thing is incredibly agile and easy to use. As with all Dyson vacuums, it's also incredibly powerful. At this price point, I would've expected more attachments. It comes with only two, but I suppose that's expected on the lower model. Also, overall, the construction feels pretty cheap. It's the usual gaudy Dyson plastic, but the feel of the mechanisms (especially the bin release) has me worried about the longevity of this vacuum. Hopefully it lasts for many years, because the suction power and the ability of this vacuum make it a joy to use.

The Dyson ball, multi floor 2 Included- Vacuum, wand, manual, a couple different attachments. Dyson offers free shipping to and from a Dyson Service Center for repairs. Assembly- There's a diagram to assemble the few different parts. It was fairly easy to snap together. The only issue was trying to get the wand inserted into the tube and have it line up and completely fit. Eventually it did go. It takes a little effort to put back after each use. Operation- The cord is about 30 feet long, which I love so I'm not constantly stopping to move the plug. The Dyson is pretty light weight, about 15 pounds so it's easy to lift and carry when necessary. The suction is strong. I had vacuumed our family room carpet with a different vacuum and then immediately used this new Dyson, and it still picked up dirt and sand that the other vacuum must have missed. The steering is easy and comfortable. It swivels side to side and back and forth without much effort. There is a natural press down and release on the vacuum to shift it from standing mode into push mode. Using your foot is not required. The base, which is about 13 1/4" wide, is self adjusting so it smoothly switches between our hardwood/tile to the carpet. The wand releases fairly easily and suction still holds up nicely. To empty the bin, you simply push the orange button, and then while you're over the trash bin, push down on the orange button to release the door. To wash the filter, it is also easy to access. The top pops lifts up and the filter is easy to pull out. The spin brush has a button to turn it off and on so you the option of using it or not depending on your floor. If it gets locked up on any item, the spin brush automatically turns off. A couple personal negatives- I wish there were a couple more attachments, especially a better stair one. I'm not a fan of the air forcing out of the top of the handle when it is completely upright and locked. Also, the ball gets pretty hot after running and takes a while to cool down and attracts dust to it. A couple different times during actual vacuuming, the entire base has popped off from the vacuum. I'm not sure why that's happening since there's no bumping or crashing, just normal use. I am concerned it's going to be an ongoing problem. The canister isn't quite as large as I would prefer. I have a 4000 sq. ft house and I sometimes have to empty the bin before I'm done vacuuming the entire house. Overall, it's a nice vacuum. There's always room for improvement but so far so good. I'm hopeful it will hold up, be durable and reliable long term. I'm hoping the vacuum will live up to it's big name.

Powerful vacuum - A lot of plastic

Overall this is a nice vacuum. It is very light, yet powerful. Assembly was a breeze, less than five minutes (10 minutes if you count unboxing) from start to finish. The suction of this unit is amazing! I was impressed at how quickly and effortlessly it removed very fine sand from our carpets. Transitioning from carpet to hard floors were seamless. The power head adjusted its height accordingly to accommodate the different flooring heights, and the roller ball makes navigating around furniture, corners, etc. a breeze, it almost practically glides across the floor! This vacuum is made entirely of plastic, which unfortunately makes it seem a bit cheap, my older model Dyson at least had a metal extension tube, I know this doesn’t seem like much, but it made the whole system feel a bit more robust and sturdy. I was slightly disappointed to find that to retract the extension tube you have to press a button, rather than simply reseating the wand on to the unit like some of their other models. This model also has a very small dust cup, which will need to be emptied frequently. Thankfully this is extremely easy, efficient (simple as pressing a button), and hygienic. You may want to note that unlike some of the older Dyson models, this one model does not lock in the upright position, so leaning it back to transport is not an option. I cannot fault Dyson for making this change because for some the locking mechanism on their previous models was a bit too strong for some users. Rating Summary: Pros: + 1 star each: +Powerful suction +Washable lifetime filters +Lightweight +Long Power cord +Long extension tube +Quick Assembly +Easy turning/navigation +5 year no hassle warranty Cons: - 1 star each: -All Plastic -Small dust cup -Only comes with 2 accessories (1 stair tool and 1 multi-tool)

My main impression and experience with Dyson products is that they take appliances that we take for granted and either put a new spin on them or combine great performance with an appearance that goes above and beyond. My impression of the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 does not change this for me. Apparently this is the second/newer model/version of their Multi Floor bagless vacuum, although I'm not aware what the difference is between the two. What I did notice is that this is an elegantly styled vacuum that does a great job of vacuuming our home. It has an auto-leveling system so you don't have to adjust the height based on the thickness or pile of your carpet. It has a very generous length cord, which I greatly appreciate. Because it is bagless, there are no bags to replace although you do need to clean the filters regularly. Like most bagless vacuums, the canister should be emptied frequently in order to get the most performance from the vacuum. Due to the "Ball" design, it can be maneuvered quite easily and can even get into some low clearance areas I wouldn't expect it to. There are many attachments included which help with vacuuming either up high or for those crevices you can't get to normally. Overall, it seems to be constructed of heavy duty plastic, which keeps the weight down. Even so, the plastic is painted/accented in a way to convey more of a metallic appearance. Most important of all, the Dyson seems to do a great job of vacuuming both carpet and floor and the 5-year warranty should help towards piece of mind.

    Another Great Dyson Product

After being without a Dyson vacuum for several years, my wife traded in my Animal on another vacuum, I was excited for the new ball. I love the automatic height adjustment so I don't have to figure out which setting to use for different carpets or wood floors in my house. From the beginning, it is pretty straight forward to assemble. Like four things click together and you're ready to go. I like the integrated hose and attachments so everything is always with me and not in a separate bag in the utility closet. Performance wise it is what you would expect from a Dyson. I had new carpet installed about six months ago and it does well with 72oz frieze carpet. The one problem was with the 78oz pile that is in my bedroom. This carpet is extremely thick and deep and the auto height adjustment has a problem with it and the brush will periodically stop depending on the direction of the carpet and the direction I'm pushing the vacuum. It did get through it but it was a bit slower process. If you have rooms with very dense and deep carpet this might not be the vacuum for you. For everything else including the hardwood floors it was great!

Dyson has impressed me over and over again

Let me start by saying that I grew up in a home where we owned a vacuum shop. I rebuilt many brand and repaired many brands over the years. As the times have changed, so have the brands and compositions of these machines. I have been resistant to the new designs because they look very odd to me and the Dyson is no exception. My old brands are wearing out and I cannot find parts any longer for them, so it was time to give the new brands a chance. I must say, the Dyson has truly impressed me. I couldn't believe the amount of dirt that this machine has pulled out of my carpets. This is embarrassing because I am a vacuum snob and I wish I had given this a chance years ago. These vacuums clean very well and I hope that it lasts for several years. They are more expensive than other brands but they are worth the price. This is my second Dyson purchase. I also own the pet model and it works very well. The design is convenient with the attachments and cleaning them is a breeze.

    Not what I expected...

As my family has used quite a few different vacuums in our house in the last few years, I was SO SO SO excited to get a Dyson and see for myself what was so great, I had always heard great things about them but just could never bite the bullet and purchase one. Now that I have used it a few times though, I am honestly disappointed, here is why. The packaging was impressive, that I will admit. But when it came time to assemble the Dyson, it was unnecessarily difficult. I am a very handy and mechanical minded person, I can do A LOT of things without the instructions, this one had me frustrated though. Both my mom and I got confused several times and the directions were not very helpful, very vague wording and the pictures lacked any helpful details. After about 15 minutes of messing around with it, it was finally built, but it did not feel very sturdy or well built. It then came time to plug it in and turn it on. When I hit the power button I heard the motor in it just very briefly move for a moment and then nothing. And when I say a very brief moment I really mean it, my mom who was standing about ten feet away did not even hear it happen. After another 5-10 minutes of unplugging it, plugging it back in, pressing the power button and the button next to it many times, and even removing the base from the rest of the machine to make sure it was assembled correctly. My mom then noticed that the lights in the room would not turn on either. We then realized it blew a circuit breaker. We have never had a home appliance do that before, not even when we had all the lights on in our basement, and running our big old carpet shampooer, with a handful of other electronics running, that just does not happen. After flipping the breaker back on, the vacuum turned on and never acted up again, it really was weird, that was strike two for me on this product. Now that I was actually using the product, I used it on every floor surface in our house which was carpet, tile, and hardwood. I will say, the self adjusting height option was pretty cool, it always seemed to be riding at the right height for whatever surface I was cleaning. The suction was also very impressive, there was a lot of very small particles in the dust container, smaller than what I usually see with our other vacuum. Also the carpet really did look cleaner and "fluffed" I guess is the word, it made it look slightly newer and fresher. Also impressive was the "ball" function, when I wanted to turn the vacuum, all I had to do was a simple turn of the wrist and the head of this vacuum did an even tighter than 90 degree turn to the side, it would start to curve back towards me slightly, it was like nothing I'd ever seen before and I did like it. But honestly the positives end there. The removable hose and attachments are awkward and not as easy to handle as other vacuums we have in our home. Overall, this vacuum does have a few positives going for it like the suction and the turning capabilities. But it falls pretty short on everything else. My biggest disappointment is the overall quality of the product. I cannot emphasize just how cheap and cheesy this product feels. In this price range, I expect a product to feel very study and strong. I call it the "fit and finish," and it really lacks, all the plastic feels very cheap and easily breakable. Especially in the removable debris cartridge, there is a ton of plastic pieces and hinges and clips and such, many seem unnecessary, and they all seem so fragile, I know eventually something will break. Also another big complaint I have is I guess what I would call the stance, the main hinge that either keeps the vacuum standing upright, or allows you to tilt it back to use the product, feels so weak, I have to really push it forward until I hear a few good strong clicks otherwise it falls backwards. It did that several times to me until I realized I really have to push it far forward and keep my hand there for a second to make sure it locked in place. Again this main hinge is a problem when I want to tilt the vacuum back on its back wheels to transport it somewhere. This is something that almost EVERY other vacuum on the market can handle but this one, the hinge just gives out and the vacuum head falls forward smacking the ground, I guess this product is just not meant to be pushed around while not being used, and instead carried? Either way it is inconvenient, this vacuum is not very light and what about the older people who may not be able to carry it? I know in the future when I need to buy another vacuum, or if a friend or family member asks my opinion on the options out there, as they so frequently do, I would easily tell them spend half the price of a Dyson as it is not worth the money at all, and go for the other big brand(s) on the market.

This smaller version of the classic Dyson Ball vacuum is far more portable than the original. This makes it easier to use on steps, while tight quarters are still easy. There are a couple of things that would make this excellent product even better. The controls for power and the brush are low, meaning they're difficult to reach if you're reasonably tall. The canister fills quickly and must be emptied frequently, making it an excellent choice for a couple of rooms, but a hassle for a larger house. Overall, an excellent product.

We have two miniature long-haired Dachshunds, and our house seems to be perpetually dusty. We own two other Dyson vacuums, and one was getting a little long in the tooth so this is taking the place of our retiree. I definitely recommend this vacuum. Dyson products are awesome, and if you can swing it do pick one up. You won't regret it!
