    Currently trying to sell

My husband surprised me with this vacuum and that is the only reason I have kept it for 2 months. It doesn’t do very well on thick carpet. The attachment hose is a pain to use because the tube thing kinks at any angle and the suction goes down. No attachment worth using on my carpeted stairs. Going to use the money we make on selling it to service my old rainbow that works better with a broken belt than this vacuum does brand new. Extremely disappointed.

Hi Katie, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 on your thicker carpets. I can confirm, Dyson ball upright vacuums - including Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2, have an active base plate which self-adjusts to create optimal contact with every floor type. This reduces air leaks and retains more suction power at the cleaner head. Dyson cleaner heads have been designed to maintain optimal contact with flooring to help ensure the best performance across both hard floors and carpet. As a result, while we don't expect problems to occur and experiences can vary from home to home, some high pile carpets may fill in the cleaner head resulting in an airtight seal.

In regards to the hose, I can confirm that we would essentially expect the hose to become more flexible with time and use. A few tips we can provide would be attaching your accessories directly to your hose, as this will also help expedite stretching the elasticity of the hose. Dyson vacuums are engineered with versatility in mind and attachments may be used on either the wand or directly on the machine itself for added convenience. Also, when stretching the hose out we would recommend starting by stretching the part of the hose that is nearest to the vacuum first when extending this part to clean your home.

While we never expect issues to occur, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 5-year guarantee.  We would value the opportunity to assist you, to help ensure your Dyson is working properly. Please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected]. We are keen on providing you with support and learning more about your experience.

      Best wishes,
      Kelly

We feel this model is not up to Dyson standards! Plastic seems flimsy! Doesn't compare to our old model which I had for 15 years!

Hi, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're sorry to hear that you have found your Ball Multi Floor 2 to feel flimsy in construction. Dyson machines are made from polycarbonate ABS, which is same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. They are tough, so we subject them to 50,000 hours of testing and 550 individual tests – all to ensure that they can withstand a lifetime’s hard use. You may view a short on some of the testing process here: http://bit.ly/1HmQ7p8. In our testing, we really put our machines through their paces, to make sure they are built to last years of regular household use.

We are happy to go over your machine with you to help with any questions you may have, as well as to assist with ensuring your machine is performing as intended. Please consider emailing us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Too Powerful, unusable on carpet

Had a DC07 Animal for about 15 years and it finally died. Replaced it with Ball 2 Animal, the suction on carpet is so strong that my wife is actually unable to move it. I could barely move it and I'm pretty beefy. Called Dyson they said to trade it in for a Ball 2 Multifloor which has less suction and a "multi-floor" head. Traded it in took the new 'Multifloor" home and my wife still can't move it on carpet, I can move it but I'm worn out and sweating after about 5 minutes and the brush keeps stopping. It works fantastic on our wood floors. The problem is it creates TOO good a seal against the carpet, there needs to be a bit of air bypass. Dyson does have a tentative fix for this, you have to strip out a gasket in the brush head allowing air to leak past the brush. Really? I have to make field modification to a brand new product just to make it work. There are several videos about this on Youtube, people have gone as far as drilling holes in the base plate. Still love Dyson, they started the bagless innovation and make great vacuums. They are just unusable on carpet.

Hi Mike, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am sorry to hear about your experience. We definitely do not recommend drilling any holes into the machine, however, removal of the rope seal does tend to help with this situation.

We would value the opportunity to address this in more detail and want to ensure you have the right machine for your needs. Please contact us at [email protected] with a description of the issue or concern and your contact information and we will be happy to help.

      Best Wishes,

    Terrible on carpet

I bought this to use on a new townhouse that has vinyl tile on the first floor and carpet on stairs and second floor. It is great on hard floor but terrible on carpet. I ended up using the hose attachment and it took me two hours to do the second floor. It is a big disappointment and totally useless for me. I ended up giving it to my daughter and am looking for a replacement.

Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. I'm happy to hear that up until this point, you have found that your Dyson works so well on your vinyl tile. We're sorry to learn that this was your experience, and that you found the machine hard to push on your carpeted floors.

    What a piece of junk

Bought this item at Best Buy Beaumont CA. Right out of the box the self level did not work. Vac was "stuck" in place by it's own suction on the carpet. Could only push it about 2 feet by forcing it to move. Brush would only turn for about 6 inches then stopped. The handle would not stay locked in the upright position. For a brand new item to be this bad right out of the box was a total waste of time. I took it back to the store.

Hello Robert, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to share your review of the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2. I'm sorry to hear this machine did not work out for you.

The cleaner head on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. On thicker or more plush carpeting, the brush bar may sense the carpeting as an obstruction, which is causing your brush bar to stop. While we never expect issues to occur, Dyson does back your new machine from an authorized retailer with a free 5-year guarantee.

I see that you've returned your machine, but we are keen learning more about your experience. If you wish to share more feedback, please feel free to reach out to us directly at [email protected].
