Awesome Vacuum

Good but with one key issue.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The are probably the best cordless stick vacs out there. The main issue is that dust accumulates and sticks to internal parts and the unit starts to smell when running, especially if pets are in the house. Very hard to get the unit torn all the way down to clean it and then it doesn't seem to go back together as tight as when new and suction is less. If Dyson made this easer to take apart and clean it would be the perfect machine.

Dyson oversized
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had an old v10 animal and this blows it away. Better technology and faster. Gave it 4 out of 5 due to the cost. Pretty pricey.

Best Vacuum We've ever had
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a number of different vacuum cleaners. Nothing we have owned works as well as this. The amount of dirt and pet hair picked up by this vacuum was amazing. You would think we never vacuumed. The only down side was the price. I bought this with a bunch of gift cards soI didn't pay much.

Animal one is better
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This my second Dyson. I gave my first one away just for the newer version. This V11 outsize is easy to empty the canister and only works excellent on carpet but leave some small debris and fur behind on wood floor. Should of get a animal one instead of larger head and it’s about $100 less too.

Posted .Hello, this is Kelly with Dyson. We're glad to hear that you've been pleased with how the Outsize Total clean performs on your carpets. We wouldn't expect any debris to get left behind, when vacuuming your wood floors. Your machine also features the XL torque drive cleaner head. In addition to the three suction modes you have on your machine, you also have the suction control slider lever built in to the front of the head. This slider allows you to maximize suction based on floor and debris type.
We would value the opportunity to learn more about your experience and assist with any questions you may have. Feel free to contact us at askdysonUS@dyson.com and we will be happy to help.
Best Wishes,
Kelly

Dyson is a phenomenal company.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We had a shark vacuum and a dyson ball before this. It’s a great vacuum. The only downside is that there’s no on off. It’s a trigger pull so after 30 minutes of vacuuming the house it’s super annoying. I get that it’s to save battery when you’re moving it. But it’s still slightly annoying. It cleans awesome and it’s made my wife VERY happy. She asked for it.

Best Cordless Vacuum I've Ever Used
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We love Dyson vacuums. We have had 2 uprights, 2 handhelds and now this one. This unit finally fixes some of the biggest complaints about the handhelds, admittedly with a few trade offs. One of the biggest complaints about the handheld vacuums that Dyson has made in the past is battery life. This addresses those issues in two ways. First the battery packs themselves are much larger. After vacuuming 6 rooms it said I still had around 15 min. of vacuuming time left. The advertised 60 minutes is on a low power and might have been possible on smooth hard surfaces, but carpets you are probably at 30. If that’s not enough time, this unit can swap out the battery packs. The model I got has two batteries in it which doubles the run time. This is also great because it is not uncommon in our house to have someone forget to plug the vacuum in after they use it. There is nothing more annoying that going to clean up a mess and having the vacuum quit after less than 5 minutes because someone forgot to charge the battery. Since its pretty normal for us to plug in the drained battery when swapping the batteries, the chances of not having at least 30 min. of runtime is pretty low. Admittedly this is not a lot more time per battery than is quoted for most of the handheld models that Dyson previously made, except that this thing runs with so much more power. That leads to the second biggest complaint of previous handhelds, the power. They normally claimed that it had like a 45 min runtime but 15 min on max power. But honestly the low power just doesn’t have enough strength to really clean anything. I have it running on max whenever I use it and even then I don’t always feel like its quite strong enough and pull out the upright to get a little more power. This unit is different in that it runs at almost the same strength as my upright. Its not quite, especially in the speed / power of the bristles in the cleaner head, but its really close. This thing sucked up a ton of dirt out of my carpet even after having cleaned it with my old handheld first. This thing really packs a punch. The smart functions that adjust power work well and seem to adjust it appropriately to be able to get a good clean and try to save power. It can be kind of fun to have it run on the carpets first and have the timer estimate that you only have 20 min. left, then switch to hardwood and have it jump up to 40. Either way, the screen is helpful to tell you how much power you really have left. The cleaner head also is pretty gentle even though it works well and seems to be actually ok for both carpet and hardwood. It also has a full sized canister which means that between the size of the canister and the battery life, you can finally realistically replace an upright with this model if you wanted. My model comes with a lot of extra tools. A lot of them are repeats of tools I can use from my old handheld or just a bit too gimmicky. The only one I thought was really cool was the Dyson light pipe crevice tool. Its basically just the long skinny tool that you use to get into small spaces, but this version is a clear purple plastic and then they put a few led lights inside so the whole thing lights up. I tried it out and its great for seeing behind a couch or something when you’re trying to suck up dead bugs or other mess but the light doesn’t shine back there for you to know if you got everything. I might end up only using it every once in a while, but its kind of fun and makes you feel like you vacuum is one part cleaning light saber. It also seems to have a better than average filtration system. The air that blew out of this just smelled cleaner and less dusty than pretty much any other vacuum I’ve used in quite a while. Having fixed the two biggest issues there are a few drawbacks. The first is that it is a handheld so all the weight of a larger vacuum is in your hand. My arm did get a bit tired after a while. It also doesn’t stand on its own, so if you need to stop and pick something up or move something in the room, you can’t just prop it up, you have to lay the whole thing down. That can get a little annoying, but its still a lot lighter than an upright and its not too bad a tradeoff for not having a cord. The second drawback is if you have weak arms or are maybe thinking this would be good for an older family member that is not as strong as they used to be, it still may not be right. Being able to pull a vacuum on wheels may still overall be easier for some people to maneuver. For comparison I have a teenage girl that could use it just fine. My 10 year old couldn’t do it, but my year old could. If you have any questions about how heavy it is I would suggest going into Best Buy and actually picking one up to get a feel for how heavy it is. Overall I really like this vacuum and it may convince me to actually get rid of our upright.

Excellent vacuum and value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum is amazing. We upgraded from a Dyson V8 because I wanted a bigger canister. This also has a larger brush head which is great because it captures a greater surface area. I highly recommend this vacuum over the one with the laser.

Great machine - Very convenient
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The machine works great. It is nice having the swappable batteries. On my old Dyson I would have to put the machine back on the charger after doing the downstairs and wait until it charged back up to do the upstairs. Now I can get the whole house done at one time.
