Much Too Powerful!

We own the small, cordless Dyson vac and it is wonderful, but does not hold enough charge to do our entire home, and the dust cup capacity is small so the vac requires repeated emptying. We bought this one, hoping it would solve those problems. Unfortunately this one did not make the cut and we ended up having to return it. The problem? Too much suction. It stuck itself to the carpet and could not be pushed. It also lifted the carpet -- which is wall-to-wall, professionally installed -- right up off the floor. My husband told me, after this happened, that he had read reviews from other customers with the same issue. We should have read reviews before buying it, as we usually do, but the Dyson name led us to believe that this would present the solutions to all our vacuuming problems. Sadly, it did not. We were fortunate that Best Buy has a great return policy and took it back without any problem at all.

I'm happy to hear how convenient you've found your cordless to be, and I'm sorry to learn this upright didn't work out for you. The cleaner head on this machine is self-adjusting, meaning that it raises and lowers to seal in suction across all floors. Ultimately, the machine being hard to push will likely be the result of suction forming an air tight seal between the cleaner head and the floor.

Cannot Handle Normal Carpets

The suction is so strong that it is impossible to push it on certain carpets. Strong suction is a good feature however if it is so strong you can not sweep a carpet then it is useless unless all you intend to sweep is hardwood floors and tile floors.

Every Dyson has something called a thermal cut off, if the air flow cannot get through the unit, the unit shuts itself off as a design feature, so that it does not over heat and damage your motor. Your brush bar will still come on as there is a separate motor for your brush. Usually comes back on within 2 hours and if we just remove the blockage the unit performs as intended. Customer service was horrible until I requested to talk to a supervisor. The final solution was I sent the original vacuum back and then they shipped a new one.

After an extensive amount of research I finally settled on this vacuum. We have a backpack vacuum for wood floors and stairs. We needed something for the 4 carpeted spaces in our home. I hated carrying the animal up the stairs from where it is stored to use it. I discovered that the animal and the all floors vacuum are the same aside from attachments. We don’t use the attachments so easy decision. I was skeptical about the mini ball but the weight made me buy it! I have used it twice in 24 hours and I am impressed. It has strong enough suction for our purposes, but not too much-it is also adjustable. Has only the attachments we use. Canister is smaller, but with more frequent vacuuming I don’t think it should be an issue.

Too much of a hassle for a weak lady
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is my first high end vacuum cleaner that costs over $150 and I wasn't entirely impressed with the product. First, the 12 pound weight is super heavy for me to maneuver around since I'm technically pushing and pulling the entire vacuum around instead of just the wand while the machine being a separate compartment like the other cheap non standing vacuum cleaners are like. Secondly, it does not have the typical 'press the button and the wires will wind back in on its own' feature that other vacuum cleaners have; half of the vacuum time involves me holding excess wires to twisting it back manually on the cleaner itself. Thirdly, I have two very fluffy cats that seems to shed the furs like leaves drop in autumn, and instead of the vacuum cleaner sucking them in from the carpet, most of the time it 'blows' it away and so there I was lugging the heavy vacuum trying to chase the furs down. I gave it 2 stars because I like the whole 'bagless' system and the suction is not too bad (although I seem to recall the cheaper ones working just as good). This vacuum is nice for someone who is strong or perhaps someone who is too lazy to head to the gym for a good workout, well this one would indirectly gets you to work on the biceps a little bit.

The Small Ball Multi-Floor is our latest technology in compact upright vacuums. The compact design does make this vacuum lightweight, when compared to the full size machines. As with our upright vacuums, the handle of the unit would be attached and the entire vacuum would be pushed when vacuuming from the base of the machine. Also, the cord is not retractable on the upright machines as this would cause additional weight, and as you mentioned added weight is not something customer's prefer in an upright vacuum. Based on the information provided it does seem as if a canister vacuum would be better suitable for your cleaning needs. In regards to the pet hair not being picked up, if the filters have been cleaned and no blockages have been located in the machine, this would indicate the machine isn't operating as intended. The Small Ball Multi-Floor upright includes a 5 year Dyson warranty, when purchased new and from an authorized Dyson retailer. Worst Vacuum

It’s frustrating to go over a spot 10 times to still see the same candy wrapper on the floor. I have a shaggy carpet. I’m guessing if you have the thinnest carpet, the kind for businesses, then this Dyson might work for you. But it doesn’t for home carpets. What a waste sitting in my closet.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the Dyson Ball Multifloor (#2498029) that I purchased w/ the 4 year warranty, so had to return it due to the vacuum squeaking and the brush bar had stopped rotating. This vacuum would be great if it didn't prove difficult to push along carpeting. I have plush carpeting and wood floors. VERY difficult to push on carpeting on Max setting, slightly less difficult if you switch the toggle. Also, the wand tool took some work (i.e., an hour of searching the internet to finally learn). You take the wand tool (the part that pulls out or extends) out of the hose, flip it upside down, click the handle part into the hose. Taking apart, and/or accessing the brush bar to remove hair/debris is so much easier than the previous vacuum, however, and the attachments work wonderfully. I just want to vacuum without it being a workout.

Stiff, A little weak, and confusing.

But assembling the vacuum was a bit confusing so I relied on a video online. From what I see so far the vacuum doesn't start sucking until it's directly on top, which stops it from cleaning up dust that is directly against a wall. Next the thing is stiff, felt more like driving a car with a selfie stick than a vacuum. All the features are a bit confusing, I love products that are packed with features but this was for my mom and she is already confused with the one feature she needs a vacuum for which is to suck up dust.
