Customers are saying
Customers are delighted by the V11 Animal Cordless Vacuum's powerful suction, ease of use, and long battery life, frequently praising its lightweight design and effective cleaning performance on various surfaces. Many appreciate the cordless convenience and the variety of attachments. However, some users note that the price point is high, the dustbin could be larger, and the trigger mechanism may present challenges with extended use.

Old brand, new high pricing, new low quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Note: This review is after 1.5 years of use. After other lower-end "name brand" stick vacuums dying after a year, I thought maybe this time I will pay more for a better quality cordless vacuum. (2019) Went to Best Buy watched the in-store demo where the vacuum picked up everything but the kitchen sink and thought, okay let's do this. Yet, I was warned to buy the extended service plan through Best Buy and I'm glad I did. First few months, I felt my home had never been cleaner with the vacuum. I washed the filter, cleaned the can, only used max mode when doing a deep clean. At around 6 months, noticed it wasn't sucking quite like it did in the beginning. Did extra canister cleanings, verified the filter was washed. Hoped it was my imagination. After another six months, the battery life began to deteriorate. I would vacuum 1 or 2 bedrooms and it would go from three bars to none. Pickup deteriorated as well with having to do multiple passes over the same area vs. at the beginning with a single pass. (Hence more battery usage to do the same coverage) In the last six months, things really went downhill. The trigger started acting up. First, I would take my finger off the trigger but the vacuum would still keep going for 3-5 seconds. I would hold the vacuum under the trigger bar and it would turn on without the trigger being touched (Wondering if the vacuum had been possessed). Then the never-ending clogged filter Lamaze heavy on and off whirring began. I would have an empty canister with a newly cleaned and dried filter, but the clogged filter glitch wouldn't stop. Essentially, the vacuum was now unusable. I give 5 stars to Best Buy and fortunately, I bought my warranty prior to 2020 (vacuum warranties on high-end vacuums are no longer replacement warranties after 2020, which will require the vacuum to be sent in for service first). I was able to get the money I spent (less the taxes I paid) and a prorated portion of my warranty back on a gift card. So I could again try and find a vacuum that can actually do what it says it will do. I'd like to note the cost/benefit analysis on this. In the past, I've spent $50-70 dollars on a cordless stick vacuum for convenient quick pick-ups. The batteries would typically fail at the 1-year mark or 9 months after manufacture warranty expiration. Which means I spent $5/mo over the useful life of the product. I spent $499 (I'll exclude the warranty) which lasted 1.5 years (I'm being generous because the last month it's been useless) $27/mo for a high end, high promises vacuum that died 6 months prior to the manufacturer's warranty ending. This means I paid 5x more for a product that could not even reach its useful life promises of at least 2 years. (Though products can last well beyond their warranty periods, I consider the warranty time frame to be the average useful life of the product before performance declines. Aka the promise the manufacture makes to its customers regarding performance.) I understand cordless options will always perform less than corded options. However, I expect that if I am to watch a demo, pay a premium, the product should represent the premium price tag, and have longevity to warrant the added cost of purchasing. Dyson needs to up their game or they will be replaced by other competitors who charge less money, have longer warranties, and better product performance (AKA the sharks are out to get you). They are in danger of becoming the Sears of technology: "Yesterday's hottest, lower-performing tech at today's higher prices."

Posted .Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Thank you for taking the time to share your review and experience thus far, with the Dyson V11 Animal. Dyson V11 cordless vacuums are our longest running cordless models to date. They offer twice the suction of any cord-free vacuum at the cleaner head, up to a 60 minute run time with a motorized attachment, and the intelligence to optimize your clean.
We're sorry to hear that after some time of use you noticed diminished suction and shorter run times. Please keep in mind that your machine will offer three suction modes for use with cleaning around your home. As a result, we would not expect you to require using the MAX suction setting for everyday cleaning, as it is only intended for use with tough cleaning jobs and also provides the least amount of run time, while providing additional power for the job. Depending on which mode you're vacuuming in, and which flooring surface - carpeting or bare floors- you can expect run times varying from 5 minutes up to one hour. You may also noticed that with repeated use and charging, the battery life will begin to degrade. This is completely normal with any type of Lithium-ion battery and not subjective to just Dyson machines. You'll notice this occurring in laptops, smart phones, etc.
With regard to suction, in addition to washing the filter on a monthly basis, keeping the clear bin and cyclone both free of debris will maintain the suction in your machine. Like all Dyson vacuums, the V11 cord-free are designed to not lose suction as long as they are properly maintained as outlined in the user guide. We'd value the opportunity to learn more about your experience with your Dyson as we'd like to help ensure you are having a 5-star experience. Please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected], and we will be in touch.
Best wishes,
Kelly
