Customers are delighted by the V11 Animal Cordless Vacuum's powerful suction, ease of use, and long battery life, frequently praising its lightweight design and effective cleaning performance on various surfaces. Many appreciate the cordless convenience and the variety of attachments. However, some users note that the price point is high, the dustbin could be larger, and the trigger mechanism may present challenges with extended use.

Hello Jerri, this is Kelly with Dyson. We would certainly expect your V11 Animal to hold up and not break easily. Dyson cord-free machines are made from polycarbonate ABS - the same material used in riot shields and crash helmets. They are tough, so we subject them to hours of testing, including drop and impact tests. Dyson machines are built to withstand years of residential household use. It would be our pleasure to learn more about your experience and provide you with any needed support. You can reach us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com.

The Dyson v11 Animal is definitely an upgrade to the V8 Animal I currently own. I love the v8 and v11 is even better. The battery lasts a little more than 60 minutes, enough time to vacuum my two-story home. The suction power does not fade when the battery runs low. The Auto mode works well, easily adapting suction going from tiles, hardwood and carpets. The bin is a nice size, larger than the v8’s bin. The only negative is that long hairs gets stuck at the top of the bin when emptying. (My wife and daughter both have long hair). It takes several pushes of the lever to get the hairs unstuck. I see this as a minor inconvenience, I would still recommend this vacuum. I am in awe every time I use this vacuum, I’m so impressed by how much fine dust it pulls out of carpets and rugs.

I loved using this but after 6 months it began to fail and after cleaning the dust filter the button on the top failed to work and it never charged properly. Thank goodness I bought a protection plan. Not worth 600 dollars.

    Love these Dyson vacuums!

I will start by saying that I have been using a Dyson V8 for a little over a year now and I have loved it and it is still running strong. But we just bought a new house and figured we'd get a new vacuum to go along with it! These vacuums are very sleek, easy to use, and last a very long time! From the time I opened the box, I was ready to go in a matter of minutes. The vacuum comes with a long pole, the main brush head as well as a couple smaller attachments, crevice tool, and another small head which turns the vacuum into a handheld. You definitely get every attachment you would ever need, and then some! It was very easy to mount the charging cradle to the wall, only 2 screws and you're done. We have it in a closet, but it wouldn't look out of place on a visible wall in anyone's home. In fact, i'm sure lots of people would ask about it if they saw it. Getting into the performance of the vacuum. Just as a test I took my V8 and vacuumed a room. Then I went over it again with the V11. I was surprised at how much more this one picked up than the old vacuum, and the old one does a really good job of cleaning! What I love about this one is that you can put it on auto mode and it will automatically sense what kind of floor you are on and adjust the power accordingly. You can hear the motor revving a little higher when you are on carpet, then as soon as you move to a linoleum or hardwood surface the motor goes down a bit. I find the auto setting works great for most surfaces. There is also a boost mode that gives you maximum suction. I found it a little hard to push the vacuum though when it was on that because there was so much suction it was almost sticking to the floor. But Im sure that would be useful in some situations where you need a little extra power. I also like how they redesigned how you empty the canister too. You literally point the vacuum canister in the garbage and slide a lever down and it shoots all the stuff it picked up right in the garbage. Simple as that. Then you close the lid and you are good to go! As far as the battery life. We have roughly a 2400 square foot house with about 60% carpet and 40% linoleum . on a full charge I was easily able to vacuum the entire house with some juice left to spare while running it on the auto mode. There is a higher and a lower mode as well, but I found the auto one worked just fine for everyday cleaning. It's also very easy to switch from the floor attachment to the smaller attachment to do stairs and things. They easily just pop right off and you can pop the next one on. It even comes with a little bracket that you can clip onto the main part to have 2 attachments with you at all times. That's a great little feature to have. With all of that said, there are a few things to keep in mind when buying this, because im not sure its for everyone. With a typical vacuum, all of the weight is down by the brush on the floor where the motor is and its easy to just push around the floor. With the Dyson, all of the weight is at the top in your hand. Just the motor itself weighs about 4 1/2 pounds. Which isn't a lot, but even I could feel my arm getting a little fatigued when I get near the end of vacuuming. I would imagine seniors or people with not a lot of strength might have a problem using this vacuum for long periods of time. Just something to keep in mind before purchasing, because i know these aren't cheap! One other thing I will mention is the Dyson warranty and customer service. They are top notch! I did have one problem with a older Dyson I had. They took me through some troubleshooting steps to try and fix a problem. When I wasn't able to fix it, they had me drop off the vacuum at UPS to be sent back to them, and they send me a brand new vacuum to replace it. In my opinion, that makes these worth the little higher price tag. Overall, I would highly recommend these vacuums. They are great for most households, easy to be used as a handheld for your car or things like that, and come with a warranty and customer service that is second to none. I have no doubt that this vacuum will last me for many, many, many years to come!

I was so disappointed with the performance of a $600 tool that didn’t live up to the promise. I’ve seen the photos of the machine filled with debris... my system clogs up every time before I have 1/8 of the tank filled. I’m chasing light hair and small objects all over the floor... for example, my dogs have small kibble for food. If I try to suck it up it just moves in front of the unit. I have to pick the head up and try to capture by dropping the head on the nugget. I’ve tried to put it on boost for all applications just to get the pickup power I was expecting. NOT WORTH THE MONEY!

Hello Greg, this is Kelly with Dyson. We are sorry to hear that you've been so disappointed with the Dyson V11 Animal cord-free. The Dyson V11 cordless vacuums are our longest running cordless models to date. They offer twice the suction of any cord-free vacuum at the cleaner head, up to a 60 minute run time with a motorized attachment, and the intelligence to optimize your clean. The V11 has up to a 40% bigger bin, which means less stopping to empty; while the hygienic point and shoot system drives dirt deep into your trash can in one easy action.

Along with three powerful suction modes, your Animal also includes our torque-drive cleanerhead, that features a suction-control slider right at the front, allowing you make adjustments based on the mess being vacuuming and flooring type. The best suction for dust and debris is the middle setting. This is best for lightly soiled carpets, rugs and hard flooring. It's also the ideal setting for large debris, such as peanuts or rice (or in your case, dog food).

We would value the opportunity to learn more about your experience and assist with any questions you may have. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] and we will be happy to help.

Already not working in less than a year. Trigger doesn’t go all the way in and intermittent on and off. The YouTube videos say it’s the battery or something else. I don’t like be bothered with troubleshooting something this new. Very disappointing for a product that cost this much as is supposed to be the best. Piece of garbage. If you want to pickup specs of dirt great spend 500 dollars for that. But dust, anything bigger than 1 mm, anything with dogs (dog hair is an instant clog). Animal does NOT MEAN PET. Don't even try carpet. Instant clog. The hole is so small in the main area it clogs and is hard to pick out. The attachment where it bends for the main mechanism clogs and oh so hard to clean.

      Hi lynxduck,

Thank you for your review. This is Miella from Dyson. We're sorry to hear of your experience with your Dyson V11 Animal cordless machine. The Dyson V11 Animal is designed to give the power of an upright with the versatility of a cordless, providing up to 60 minutes of run time, depending on the mode used.

The V11 Animal includes three modes: eco mode, auto mode and boost mode. These modes give you the ability to handle almost any cleaning task from the dirt to a particularly stubborn mess.

The Dyson V11 Animal is suitable for most flooring and carpet types. However, we are unable to test our machines on every flooring permutation out there. Therefore, we always recommend that you contact your carpet retailer/manufacturer before using your new Dyson or any other vacuum cleaner.

I'm three months away from it being 2 yrs old and it has stopped working. The bristles were dirty so I took it all apart to clean it, then it wouldn't work again. Local service place it needs a new motor head so I'm going to have to call Dyson and go through them for repair or replacement. This is the third Dyson I've bought that has let me down. I'm not buying another. Might as well get cheaper and replace more often.

Received the latest Dyson vacuum: The V11 Animal cordless. I've previously owned a Dyson that was purchased in 2014; the DC40. So what’s changed in 5 years? A lot! Once it was assembled, it was obvious that it’s lighter than the DC40. I allowed the V11 to be fully charged before using it. Once charged up, I was able to test it multiple ways. The first test was on carpet. It felt as the Dyson gripped the carpet and pulled a significant amount of dirt. It felt as if I had completed the entire house very quickly. It dawned on me that more than likely not having to pull and unplug for each room did make a difference. While going over the carpet, I also decided to test on two rugs. The V11 continued to clean, but what I heard was surprising: The V11 adjusted power on its own. A small downturn of power, but enough not to pull the rug into the bristles and continue cleaning. Quite Impressive. Next was the hardwood floors. Another surprise. It appears that the V11 swept up dirt on the hardwood floors, and possibly added a shine to the floors as well. Next I used the attachments to clean the sofa. Once again, I was impressed with how clean a cordless vacuum cleaned and had so much power. The final test was inside the cars. I wasn’t disappointed at this point. The little vacuum that could is now the new lead vacuum in the household. Nitpicks, but not dealbreakers: 1) The battery readout only showed in bar levels instead of an actual percentage (100%, 90%, etc.) readout. 2) Having to hold the power button on the wand could be an issue for some people. It would have been nicer if there was a button or latch to keep the vacuum running without pressing it the entire time. The V11 is great to have. You won’t be disappointed.

If you are noticing regular clogging in your machine, it can certainly be a result of a dirty filter or an existing obstruction that is causing poor airflow. While we find most problems may be resolved via simple, yet effective troubleshooting at home, this is certainly not the kind of experience we expect for any of our valued owners. The compartment to empty the debris is a hassle as you have to undock the wand firsts also where to plug cord to charge devise is not a convenient position if to plan to mount with wall mount as it hangs all the weigh on top of the cord. I have had this vacuum for 3 weeks and I already had to take apart and clean twice as I was getting performance errors. Last Dyson 8 lasted 1 year. Purchased the Dyson 11 animal and it hasn’t been seamless. This is a high maintenance vacuum. It vibrates hard and loud on bare floors. The Dyson 8 had a very high pitch and found it annoying.

      Hello 1Peanut,
Thank you for your review. This is Miella from Dyson. We're so sorry to hear of your experience with your machine. Because of the Dyson V11 Animal having the stronger digital motor and torque cleanerhead, while it can produce a louder noise than previous cordless machines, but it shouldn't be intrusive. Routine maintenance will need to be done on the machine, as outlined in the user guide, and depending on your cleaning tasks, may need to be done more often and sometimes every day (especially if you have a home with pets). The ergonomics of the machine was designed to ensure the machine is easy to empty, and easy to maneuver. Hi John, this is Kelly with Dyson. I can confirm that the clear dust bin is a bit larger on the V11 Animal, which does add just a touch of weight to this particular model. Having said that, we're thrilled to hear that you've found this to be such a well-performing machine, despite the increase in weight. Our V11 models feature twice the suction of any cord-free vacuum. You also have the benefit of whole-machine filtration, to prevent dust, allergens and bacteria from leading back into the air you breathe. The high torque cleaner head features a Dynamic Load Sensor (DLS) system, which automatically changes the motor speed for different floor types. This helps drive bristles deep into carpet to remove ground-in dirt, and capture fine dust from hard floors and crevices. We'd value the opportunity to learn more about your experience with your machine to help ensure that you are able to enjoy your machine as intended. Please consider emailing us directly at askdysonUS@dyson.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

Ergonomically painful to use and difficult to empty. I could make do with this if it actually worked well, but it doesn’t. It will not pick up cat litter and actually ends up spitting it everywhere making an even bigger mess. I expected a Dyson product - particularly one geared toward animals - to work better, especially at this price point.

The Dyson worked great for several months, then quit. I had registered the warranty with Dyson and it was stiil under warranty, so I contacted them and they said said the motor head needed to be replaced, but unfortunately the part was out of stock and they would notify me when a replacement came in. It’s been four months, and the part is still out of stock. There were 12 months left on the warranty, now there are 8 left. I’m disappointed - it was a $600 some dollar vacuum with very good reviews, but I’m not sure if I should keep waiting or switch brands and go get another.
