I love Megadeth, however, the last few albums they produced have been a little lackluster. They were lacking in any decent original songs and then the covers were mediocre at best. However, Dystopia is not lacking in the departments that the last few albums had. It actually sounds a bit like a brand new band! This being their first new studio album with drummer Chris Adler, and lead guitarist Kiko Louriero. This gave Megadeth not only a newer sound, but seemingly a brand new drive! Even Mustaines voice sounds different to me, which I don't believe it is aging because he sounds... younger to me. In my honest opinion, after listening to this album straight through a dozen times since I purchased it, I believe they may finally get their "Hit song" off of this album. They are definitely going in the right direction, and I have faith that they will only be getting better from this point on. I highly recommend giving this album a listening to for all metal fans. Megadeth has put a new edge on their blade.

Even though the band's lineup has changed yet again, the music's still good. The songs are heavy, fast, and typical Megadeth all-around. Dave Mustaine is not afraid to call it as he sees it with his lyrics. He brings up the topics of current events, growing government control, society, and how it all fits into Bible prophecy. My fellow headbangers- don't turn away, this is not a Christian music album (although Mustaine is Christian himself), but rather a "wake up and smell the coffee" album that can stand alongside pretty much any other Megadeth album (except Risk, which was IMO the only bad one they ever made). By all means, enjoy! Side note: The song "Dance in the Rain" is not on this album (it's on Supercollider) but we should all follow the advice it gives- "learn to dance in the rain instead of wait for the sun." Things won't get any better out there, people. Live your life to the best of your ability and make the most out of it in spite of how hard life gets.

1st off - Megadeth was my band since Peace Sells was released. Loved them & Mustaine & all incarnations of their career until the mid 2000s when it seemed that they just weren't into it much anymore and only a few songs on each album grabbed me at all. After Super Collide r, I was pretty much through w/ them. I was hearing some good reviews about Dystopia & had to check it. Gotta say, I was impressed. Dave sounds re energized: Production is good, songs are all inspired - no obvious lame-o ballad or pop friendly garbage. I give it multiple listens & keeps me interested in the musicianship alone. Great solos throughout & everyone gets a minute to shine. Downside: If you know your Megadeth, you definitely can hear blatant snippets and riffs repeated from PS or RIP a time or two & wonder if it's an intentional throwback or updating it w/ the new guys or annoyingly wonder why the rehash? That may be my quirk, but all in all, definitely good, intriguing stuff on here to hold interest for a lifelong fan as well as anyone wanting to see what they are about. Good to have them back revitalized for real!

Thank you Dave for this gem. The first Megadeth album I ever bought was Peace Sells...and to this day Peace Sells remains my favorite album, followed by Rust in Peace and Killing is My Business....I'm not gonna review in depth, if your a fan of old, true Megadeth, then fasten your seatbelt. This is the best Megadeth album front to back since Rust in Peace, period! I always hoped but truly never expected such a classic album at this point. I truly hope he keeps Kiko and Chris on the next album. Mustaine's lyrics, vocals and guitar on this album equal pure fire. How he will follow this up, I will anxiously await. It's very early but Dystopia is album of the year for me.

What a great album. There's not a bad song on it, which is pretty rare these days. I got the Best Buy version with the bonus tracks and they're just as good as the rest. There are other bonus tracks such as Me Hate You on the Japan release and I'll never understand why they don't just do a deluxe CD with all the bonus tracks. Finally, I hope they can keep this lineup for a while, I think the addition of Kiko has added a dimension that was missing on previous albums. He adds some depth/ variety to the tracks, the piano at the end of Poisonous Shadows comes to mind, so kudos to Mustaine for getting him.

Megadeth keeps putting out CD's of new material even though the new stuff pretty much sounds like everything else they've ever recorded. This is not a bad thing, though, 'cause Megadeth rocks and rocks and rocks and rocks!! So get your head bangin' self down to whatever very limited selection Super Mega store you have in your town and sift through the disorganized mess called the CD aisle and hope you can find it amongst all the Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, and Taylor Swift CD's thrown all over the place! After that, go home and just order it online! Thank you, Jesus, for giving us the Internet!

Megadeth has returned with their best work since Marty Friedman left the group. This album is classic Megadeth! Great songs, killer musicianship, ripping guitar solos, and the story of a future in turmoil. So glad to see Mustaine and company making the kind of music that made me fall in love with this group so many years ago. I've been a fan for a long time, but the last decade or so, the band hasn't kept my interest the way they did with their stuff from the 80's and 90's. I can promise you, whatever your favorite Megadeth is, you need to add this album to your collection!!

Megadeth Is Back And Stonger Than Ever

After the epic thrash masterpiece that was 2009's Endgame, I'll admit that I was a tad disappointed with both 2011's Th1rt3en and 2013's Super Collider. While they weren't necessarily bad albums (in fact, there's quite a bit of songs on both albums that I really enjoy), they didn't scream "thrash metal" (they were more "heavy metal", like 1992's Countdown to Extinction). With Dystopia, Dave Mustaine rectifies this mistake and goes back to his thrash roots. Both songwriting and musicianship are in top form, and show that these old dogs are still the leaders of the pack.

This is actually an excellent CD. I'll generally buy anything that Megadeth puts out, and often it takes a few listens before I start to appreciate a new CD from the band. This time it was different; I liked or REALLY liked all of the tracks the very first time I listened to each of them, which was a refreshing surprise. There's nothing too original here, but there is some variety in the same veins as other recent Megadeth albums. This is definitely worth adding to your collection - if you're like me, you're gonna love it.

this is a new and fresh sound from megadeth..it has been a while since they came out with a cd but it was worth the wait.the songs are fast and furious. the notes on the guitar are precise and it sounds great to the air. this is not your typical pop junk and boy band junk they put out nowadays. if you want an escape from pop music this is a cd for you.. if you like a band that can actually play an instrument then take a listen. megadeth has been around since the 80's and there is plenty of reason why.

It is sad that there is once again a lineup change, but seconds into the first track you will once again forgive Dave. This CD is out of the gate in your face classic MEGADETH!! After a couple of times through it I can't pick a single track as a "clunker". After all these years Dave still cares enough to put down well crafted and highly intricate metal for all of our enjoyment, and if you're not sure if he can still deliver go see him live. Dave Mustaine and Megadeth ARE METAL!!

What a fantastic album from Dave and Junior and their latest recruits Chris and Keiko! I was immediately struck by the "familiarity" that one feels as many of the songs are reminiscent of early song structures from "Peace Sells..." and "So Far, So Good, So What" which leave a simultaneous feeling of nostalgia mixed with appreciation for the current caliber of compositions. Also, love the whole VR experience!!!

Megadeth, whomever is in the band, has always I felt put out solid albums. With their efforts to get back to the form of the earlier years.. Rust in peace....Peace Sells...but whose buying... The last three albums have all been great... But I would have to say Dystopia tops them! Awesome to just hit play...and let it play! This album if proof of why you should choose to be a fan of Megadeth....

Dave Mustaine and crew show why Megadeth has such a successful career by returning with another dose of blistering metal. Ears may bleed but they will love every minute of this disc. Not a bad track in the set. Look forward to catching them on tour later this year and hope to hear several tracks from Dystopia during their live set. Megadeth fans should not be disappointed with this release.

I have been a MegaDeth fan since the 80's and the band keeps getting better and more back to their roots of metal. This album takes the cake, good riffs and awesome double bass foot work feels like Rust in Piece and Symphony of Destruction mixture. If you're MegaDeth Mustaine fan then this CD is for you!!!

After two subpar releases, Megadeth finally delivers with their new album. There's a rage in Mustaine's voice that hasn't been present in years. This album is definitely better than Super collider, Thirteen, and Endgame. I actually liked United Abominations so I can't say I like Dystopia more than that album. So far, my favorites from this album are Poisonous Shadows, Fatal Illusion and the title track. Worth buying for sure.

I admit I actually liked Super Collider. Though it wasn't a thrash album, it had it's moments. Dystopia goes back to more old school thrash in the vain of Peace Sells & Rust In Peace. If it sounds intriguing to you, pick it up now. FYI to the reviewer who said the the new lead guitarist was Japanese, he's Brazilian. Do your research.

Megadeth returns again with hard core riffs... Dave Mustane doesn't disappoint. The album brings back a bit of a feel from different albums from the past.. Like most bands that have stood the sands of time, im sure some may disagree with me, but Dystopia still confirms that i will still continue to follow Megadeth..
