1st off - Megadeth was my band since Peace Sells was released. Loved them & Mustaine & all incarnations of their career until the mid 2000s when it seemed that they just weren't into it much anymore and only a few songs on each album grabbed me at all. After Super Collide r, I was pretty much through w/ them. I was hearing some good reviews about Dystopia & had to check it. Gotta say, I was impressed. Dave sounds re energized: Production is good, songs are all inspired - no obvious lame-o ballad or pop friendly garbage. I give it multiple listens & keeps me interested in the musicianship alone. Great solos throughout & everyone gets a minute to shine. Downside: If you know your Megadeth, you definitely can hear blatant snippets and riffs repeated from PS or RIP a time or two & wonder if it's an intentional throwback or updating it w/ the new guys or annoyingly wonder why the rehash? That may be my quirk, but all in all, definitely good, intriguing stuff on here to hold interest for a lifelong fan as well as anyone wanting to see what they are about. Good to have them back revitalized for real!

I love Megadeth, however, the last few albums they produced have been a little lackluster. They were lacking in any decent original songs and then the covers were mediocre at best. However, Dystopia is not lacking in the departments that the last few albums had. It actually sounds a bit like a brand new band! This being their first new studio album with drummer Chris Adler, and lead guitarist Kiko Louriero. This gave Megadeth not only a newer sound, but seemingly a brand new drive! Even Mustaines voice sounds different to me, which I don't believe it is aging because he sounds... younger to me. In my honest opinion, after listening to this album straight through a dozen times since I purchased it, I believe they may finally get their "Hit song" off of this album. They are definitely going in the right direction, and I have faith that they will only be getting better from this point on. I highly recommend giving this album a listening to for all metal fans. Megadeth has put a new edge on their blade.

Even though the band's lineup has changed yet again, the music's still good. The songs are heavy, fast, and typical Megadeth all-around. Dave Mustaine is not afraid to call it as he sees it with his lyrics. He brings up the topics of current events, growing government control, society, and how it all fits into Bible prophecy. My fellow headbangers- don't turn away, this is not a Christian music album (although Mustaine is Christian himself), but rather a "wake up and smell the coffee" album that can stand alongside pretty much any other Megadeth album (except Risk, which was IMO the only bad one they ever made). By all means, enjoy! Side note: The song "Dance in the Rain" is not on this album (it's on Supercollider) but we should all follow the advice it gives- "learn to dance in the rain instead of wait for the sun." Things won't get any better out there, people. Live your life to the best of your ability and make the most out of it in spite of how hard life gets.

In my opinion, this is the best Megadeth album in years. Certainly the best since Youthanasia. The crunch is there. The drums are very punchy and fat. The bass is thick. The guitars are shredding. I also really like what they did with Mustaine's voice; the grit is there, and the octave effect really thickens things up a bit. In some parts, I get a Testament (band) vibe--which is a good thing. If you like their songs "Kill The King" and "Gears Of War," you will probably dig Dystopia. Not too crazy about the title track (a little too melodic, for me), but the rest of the album is killer Metal riffing. The sound has been a bit modernized, and it works.

Thank you Dave for this gem. The first Megadeth album I ever bought was Peace Sells...and to this day Peace Sells remains my favorite album, followed by Rust in Peace and Killing is My Business....I'm not gonna review in depth, if your a fan of old, true Megadeth, then fasten your seatbelt. This is the best Megadeth album front to back since Rust in Peace, period! I always hoped but truly never expected such a classic album at this point. I truly hope he keeps Kiko and Chris on the next album. Mustaine's lyrics, vocals and guitar on this album equal pure fire. How he will follow this up, I will anxiously await. It's very early but Dystopia is album of the year for me.

What a great album. There's not a bad song on it, which is pretty rare these days. I got the Best Buy version with the bonus tracks and they're just as good as the rest. There are other bonus tracks such as Me Hate You on the Japan release and I'll never understand why they don't just do a deluxe CD with all the bonus tracks. Finally, I hope they can keep this lineup for a while, I think the addition of Kiko has added a dimension that was missing on previous albums. He adds some depth/ variety to the tracks, the piano at the end of Poisonous Shadows comes to mind, so kudos to Mustaine for getting him.

Megadeth keeps putting out CD's of new material even though the new stuff pretty much sounds like everything else they've ever recorded. This is not a bad thing, though, 'cause Megadeth rocks and rocks and rocks and rocks!! So get your head bangin' self down to whatever very limited selection Super Mega store you have in your town and sift through the disorganized mess called the CD aisle and hope you can find it amongst all the Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, and Taylor Swift CD's thrown all over the place! After that, go home and just order it online! Thank you, Jesus, for giving us the Internet!

Megadeth has returned with their best work since Marty Friedman left the group. This album is classic Megadeth! Great songs, killer musicianship, ripping guitar solos, and the story of a future in turmoil. So glad to see Mustaine and company making the kind of music that made me fall in love with this group so many years ago. I've been a fan for a long time, but the last decade or so, the band hasn't kept my interest the way they did with their stuff from the 80's and 90's. I can promise you, whatever your favorite Megadeth is, you need to add this album to your collection!!
