    Stylish Upgrade / Similar Functionality

I owned an Ecobee 3 Lite for several years and it performed well. With the installation of my new HVAC system I decided to upgrade to the new Ecobee Premium Thermostat. The Premium is much more stylish than previous models and I like the colored rings around the thermostat when it is operating the HVAC unit. The Premium adds Alexa and Google assistants and an air quality monitor (I’m not sure how accurate this is). Overall, the Premium seems to have the same functionality of its predecessors with some newer features and a more stylish housing. If you already own an Ecobee, I see no reason to upgrade unless the Premium has some features you want. I’m pleased with my new thermostat and I would recommend it to someone who is looking to upgrade to a smart thermostat.

Best thermostat Ive owned. Very easy to set-up and has worked great. If you login to you account on a browser it will give you details/reports on how your system is running and for how long each time it is on.

Mostly good product, though not perfect, especially for the price. At it's core, it's has some great benefits: * support for Alexa and Google * AirPlay speaker (though this stopped working after a week of use and I never bothered figuring out why) * comes with a separate temperature sensor * air quality sensor! * Looks good But in practice, it has some issues: * Sensors aren't calibrated well. Even with the sensors adjacent to each other for several hours, I get different temperatures +/-5F. * speaker is bad. Worse than my phone, maybe on par with my smartwatch * Air Quality sensor isn't accurate. It'll randomly show the air as "Poor" while my air purifier devices mark it as excellent. When I'm cooking, my air purifiers easily pick up the change in air quality while the ecobee says "Clean". Searching online, I see other users are having the same issue. * UI is more complicated than a non-smart thermostat. To change the temperature, it takes 3 taps as there aren't simple "+" and "-" buttons on the device. Overall, I did quite a bit of research and I still think this is the best smart thermostat on the market (based on my needs). However, it's far from perfect and didn't live up to my expectations for the price.

Great gift option for new home owners. I received one as a gift, and bought this one to gift a family member. Easy to setup and so far great smart home device. Love the ability to remotely manage the thermostat and set up a schedule.

Overall I’ve been satisfied with the Ecobee with a few exceptions. First, I noticed a significant 5-10 degree-temperature swing been two adjoining rooms. This was consistent throughout the day. Solution: Adjust the ‘artificial temperature’ control by 1-5 degrees. I also bought 2 additional Ecobee sensors, placing one in the same room as the thermostat. This seemed to balance out my the sensors by a 2 degree window most of the day which I consider acceptable. Second: I found the same flaw with the humidity sensor. It was off by 5-10%. Solution: Same as above, adjust the ‘artificial humidity control’. Third: The HomeKit temperature based on each sensor often do not match the figures on the Ecobee app. Solution: Adjust thermostat exclusively on the Ecobee app until an update is released to solve this problem. (Note: You can still adjust the temp from the HomeKit app but it may not be as accurate.) My overall experience with the Ecobee thermostat has been positive. I’m able to keep my home at a comfortable temperature while still achieving an average of 15-20kwph reduction per day in a 1500sqft area.

Very easy set up. I expected it to require more work, but the step by step guidelines on the app made it super simple. The display is clear and the phone app makes it easy to turn the heat up or down while in bed! Perfect for those cold mornings!

I owned the Nest 3rd Gen learning thermostat for years and eventually purchased two of the Nest external room sensors separately. I hated the learning aspect of the Nest Thermostat as I was always fighting it to keep my home comfortable. Once I learned to turn this function off, Nest was a great setup. I decided to try Ecobee as it's newer and I thought would be technologically superior. It's a lot larger than the Nest, which bothered me at first, though I eventually got used to it. The Ecobee seems to be a lot less accurate in measuring the temperature of my house than the Nest. The house can feel too hot, but the temperature says it's cool and vice versa. The app is inferior to Nest's too. Nest has a very simple and easy app. Unless you want this thermostat for Apple's HomeKit I'd go with a Nest learning thermostat. I wish I had returned the Ecobee before the 15 day return period.

The external sensors make this work so well. Our thermostat is on a 2nd story landing, so the temperatures would be all over the place in the upstairs bedrooms. Now we can set where people are during the day normally and it will also sense if people are detected to help make sure rooms are staying at reasonable temperatures.

I absolutely love having a “smart” thermostat. We replaced an old digital screen Honeywell. I selected this one due to the additional sensor that could be added in the hopes it would help the system regulate the hottest area of the house. *Spoiler alert-this will not make your system act like a zoned system. What it will do is help you track the hottest area of the house. The data from this helped to confirm we needed to update our system. Mind you our house was built in the mid 80’s and did not have a system that could efficiently cool every level (3). The app is nice and you can monitor and make changes from a smart phone wherever you are. It also monitors air quality so I’m very pleased. It has settings where you can schedule your system heating and cooling which is a nice feature.

    Improves A Poorly-Implemented HVAC System

Before installing an ecobee, there was a 10+ degree F difference beteween the hallway with my thermostat and my bedroom and 5+ degree difference in other rooms. Even after putting plastic over our windows! We offen ran our furnace at higher temps in an effort to compensate. With an ecobee and a sensor for each room, we get a far more accurate picture of what our temps are how to economically maintain a comfortable home in the winter. The included wiring adapter meant I didn’t need to run new wiring, and the install took less than an hour.
