Handy, but old technology and poor instructions.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perhaps I should have gotten the Rumba based on reviews. This robot works pretty well. The directions with the unit are not clear. Adding another user to the application caused me to have to reprogram the unit from the start. It does not vacuum all of the rooms without help yet. It does NOT work with a 5GHz connection.

WORST SOFTWARE EVER
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great unit, the N8 + pro with the vibrating mop. Except for the software. I don’t write reviews often, only when somethings exceptionally good or exceptionally bad. In this case, software is exceptionally bad. The software is like working with a little old man with severe Alzheimer’s. I’ve had this thing map the house over 20 times and yet again, it forgets. You’re back to restoring it and instead it just erases it and doesn’t work. So, you have to do it again. Start all over again from the beginning. Redo each area, redo each schedule (as it doesn’t know to self empty when it’s full). Whoever is in this department should be fired and they should start over again. Look at your competitors. Somehow they get to do it right. Perhaps consider hiring one of their people, doesn’t even have to be a good programmer on their side to beat this junk.

Good, but sees/avoids pet hair clumps
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'd give it a 5, but it is actually too smart... we have a Golden Retriever that sheds large clumps of hair... this vacuum sees those clumps and goes around them, which is super annoying because now I have to "prep" the house before it will vacuum the entire floor. Wondering if I would have gotten the AIVI with the camera if it would have "learned" that it could suck those up???

Good but show clear messages instead of general
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's working great till now, I liked the future of selecting area map from app where to clean as more messy in mud room (kid walks with shoes after playing) and as usual in kitchen. Almost alternate days we are using. Observed one time that, it went for charging after 20-30 mins of cleaning though didn't use for two days. I have to select again the area and start. And also observed that, if any obstruction to near charging station, it says wheel struck suggested to remove any hair/clog on left wheel. After moving the object away near charging station it returned back, took lot more time to figure what the problem is as not seen any hair on wheels. Should have shown clear message instead of regular message this would confuse, thought to return and order new one or other brand. Only suggestion is show proper messages on app instead of general messages.

Great Addition to House
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum has been a game changer in my house hold! It does an amazing job sweeping both my 1st and 2nd story but I wish the mop feature worked a bit better, maybe there's some settings I need to fiddle with on the app. If I could get the mop working how I feel like it should be, I'd definitely give this a 5. I have loved not having to sweep the house anymore on my own.

Get a shark IQ XL SELF EMPTY INSTEAD
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very disappointed. For being a $700 vacuum I assumed it’ll do efficient straight lines. It maps out well and navigated well. But it just randomly cleans. It’ll eventually clean the area once it gets done with others. The mopping feature is kinda trash. It gently “wipes” the floor. To get it start was hard to I thought I had a defective robot. You have to fill the tank halfway. In order to just vacuum you have detach the mop attachment. Which leaves the back looking like it’s missing a piece or broken.the self empty is extremely loud. Don’t recommend You want a cheaper better vacuum. Get the shark IQ XL self Empty. Way quieter/ efficiently cleans in straight lines doing one room at a time. The self empty is the noise level of a normal vacuum. Did I mention it’s quiet? Sometimes I think it’s stuck because I don’t hear anything!

Expensive with compromises
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good product if you need the auto empty bin. But I returned mine since it doesn't map more than two floors, can't disable the auto empty feature and can't modify the map to add a room (have to remap the whole house). Again overall a decent product but at this price it is hard to accept any compromises.

The set up was relatively simple, but I had experienced some errors during the process that forced me to restart.

One smart vacuum!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the past four years or so, we've had a higher-end, well-known brand name robotic vacuum. We originally got it with the intentions of using quite often between the regular deep cleanings. Unfortunately, it didn't work to our expectations, so we haven't really used it as much as we had planned. The battery just wouldn't last long enough between charges (and would end up taking 10-11 hours to finish cleaning our downstairs) and always had to be around to "babysit" it to empty the dust bin during pretty much each charge. Newer versions took care of the dust bin emptying problem, but at a hefty price (and no way to upgrade previous versions). ECOVACS has updated their DEEBOT line, adding the DEEBOT OZMO T8+, which pairs their DEEBOT T8 (along its OZMO mopping system) with their new Auto-Empty station, and allows you to let it keep cleaning without worry of manually cleaning out the dust bin for up to 30 days. Once I got everything set up (placing the Auto-Empty Station, installing the side brushes on the bottom of the DEEBOT, and then put in its place on the station), I connected it to the Wi-Fi (2.4GHz only) in the ECOVACS App and it was ready to go. The first thing we were interested in was seeing how its cleaning pattern would look. Our other vacuum didn't really seem to have a good idea on what it needed to do, even for being the smartest model at that time, where it would partial clean one room before going to the next (that was probably part of the battery drain issue), sometime going back and for 3 or 4 times between rooms before it was finally finished with them and moved on. The DEEBOT T8 did much better in that aspect during its first run, even with our somewhat challenging layout. Watching it create the map on the ECOVACS app is actually pretty cool! You can see where the laser has initially detected open areas and hard edges (walls, objects, etc.). It also shows the path that is has taken throughout the entire cleaning cycle. As it continued, it spent some time doing initial room edge verification before it decided to start finishing some of the rooms then moving on to the rest that it hadn't gotten to yet. Looking at the map afterwards, it had automatically created different labelled areas (A, B, C, etc.). If the Advanced Mode is turned on, you can go in to the Map editor, where you can Divide areas and Merge areas as needed, set virtual boundaries and update the labels (from the initial A - ?). You can also set the cleaning preferences for each area from the app's automatic recommendations (# cleaning passes [1 or 2], Vacuum Power [Quiet, Standard, Max or Max+], and water flow level for mopping [Low, Medium, High or Ultra High] Schedules can also be created, for an Auto cleaning (cleaning everywhere) and/or Area cleaning (where you select the Area(s) to clean). We will probably set up at least and Area cleaning schedule for every 1-2 days to clean the hallway that leads to the laundry room (where the litter box is) and gets quite a bit of litter tracked throughout regularly. And, if you have multiple floors, and don't mind carrying everything between them, you can turn on the Multi-Floor map, and it will create and keep separate maps for each floor (we don't plan on using that feature, but it is nice to have). To start the vacuum, you can press the button on the top of the DEEBOT (to do an Auto Clean), or in the app, you can tell it to do and Auto Clean [select specific area(s)], Area Clean or Custom [using a selection rectangle to give a fairly precise area to clean]. Under the top flap, it has a little storage area containing a nifty cleaning tool. It has a brush on one end to help keep the filter cleaner, and a slicer on the other to help remove tangled hair in any area of the vacuum (main brush, side brushes, wheels, etc.). While it is vacuuming, I will say it is pretty quiet. It will get a little louder when it detects it has moved onto carpet and turns it up to maximum (as a part of the Auto-Boost Suction setting), but it still isn't that bad (much quieter than out other). It is so much quieter, that it doesn't really bother any of our cats (they will even walk up to it while it is going, but haven't gotten any to ride it yet). Now, the Auto-clean Station is a little louder when it activates (which is for about 10-20 seconds), so may not be the best idea to run when anyone is napping. And the battery life is amazing! During its first run, it had done most of the downstairs area (missed only the majority of the dining room, for a total of 1033 sq. ft.) before it needed to charge and clean out the dust bin. The amount of time of cleaning before charging was 2 hours and 25 minutes! Granted, about 70-75% is hard floor (wood or tile), so it didn't have to kick up the suction power as much, but still better that any time with our other vacuum (maybe 90 minutes at the most at the beginning of a cycle, but mainly only 30-45 minutes at a time). It probably would have completely finished that time, but it spent a lot of time trying to get on to one of our rugs, which is a little thick (it eventually did, but didn't stay on for long, and didn't totally clean). The next time, it actually completed the entire downstairs area (well, minus that thicker rug, for a total of 1109 sq. ft.) on a single charge, in 2 hours and 21 minutes. One feature that we probably won't be using is the built-in OSMO Mopping. It has a water reservoir to fill with purified or softened water. You will attach either the washable microfiber pad or a disposable cleaning cloth to the cleaning cloth plate, then attach the plate under the reservoir. Then insert the reservoir back int the vacuum. While the plate is attached, it will avoid carpeted areas to keep it from getting wet. With the pad being at back, it can actually vacuum and mop at the same time. For a better mopping clean, there is also an enhanced mopping attachment that can be purchased (the OZMO PRO Mopping System), which will vibrate to get a more thorough wet clean. All in all, this is a great system for automated vacuuming, at a decent price point, and having the Auto-clean Station more than makes up for the default mopping capability for us.
