For the past four years or so, we've had a higher-end, well-known brand name robotic vacuum. We originally got it with the intentions of using quite often between the regular deep cleanings. Unfortunately, it didn't work to our expectations, so we haven't really used it as much as we had planned. The battery just wouldn't last long enough between charges (and would end up taking 10-11 hours to finish cleaning our downstairs) and always had to be around to "babysit" it to empty the dust bin during pretty much each charge. Newer versions took care of the dust bin emptying problem, but at a hefty price (and no way to upgrade previous versions). ECOVACS has updated their DEEBOT line, adding the DEEBOT OZMO T8+, which pairs their DEEBOT T8 (along its OZMO mopping system) with their new Auto-Empty station, and allows you to let it keep cleaning without worry of manually cleaning out the dust bin for up to 30 days. Once I got everything set up (placing the Auto-Empty Station, installing the side brushes on the bottom of the DEEBOT, and then put in its place on the station), I connected it to the Wi-Fi (2.4GHz only) in the ECOVACS App and it was ready to go. The first thing we were interested in was seeing how its cleaning pattern would look. Our other vacuum didn't really seem to have a good idea on what it needed to do, even for being the smartest model at that time, where it would partial clean one room before going to the next (that was probably part of the battery drain issue), sometime going back and for 3 or 4 times between rooms before it was finally finished with them and moved on. The DEEBOT T8 did much better in that aspect during its first run, even with our somewhat challenging layout. Watching it create the map on the ECOVACS app is actually pretty cool! You can see where the laser has initially detected open areas and hard edges (walls, objects, etc.). It also shows the path that is has taken throughout the entire cleaning cycle. As it continued, it spent some time doing initial room edge verification before it decided to start finishing some of the rooms then moving on to the rest that it hadn't gotten to yet. Looking at the map afterwards, it had automatically created different labelled areas (A, B, C, etc.). If the Advanced Mode is turned on, you can go in to the Map editor, where you can Divide areas and Merge areas as needed, set virtual boundaries and update the labels (from the initial A - ?). You can also set the cleaning preferences for each area from the app's automatic recommendations (# cleaning passes [1 or 2], Vacuum Power [Quiet, Standard, Max or Max+], and water flow level for mopping [Low, Medium, High or Ultra High] Schedules can also be created, for an Auto cleaning (cleaning everywhere) and/or Area cleaning (where you select the Area(s) to clean). We will probably set up at least and Area cleaning schedule for every 1-2 days to clean the hallway that leads to the laundry room (where the litter box is) and gets quite a bit of litter tracked throughout regularly. And, if you have multiple floors, and don't mind carrying everything between them, you can turn on the Multi-Floor map, and it will create and keep separate maps for each floor (we don't plan on using that feature, but it is nice to have). To start the vacuum, you can press the button on the top of the DEEBOT (to do an Auto Clean), or in the app, you can tell it to do and Auto Clean [select specific area(s)], Area Clean or Custom [using a selection rectangle to give a fairly precise area to clean]. Under the top flap, it has a little storage area containing a nifty cleaning tool. It has a brush on one end to help keep the filter cleaner, and a slicer on the other to help remove tangled hair in any area of the vacuum (main brush, side brushes, wheels, etc.). While it is vacuuming, I will say it is pretty quiet. It will get a little louder when it detects it has moved onto carpet and turns it up to maximum (as a part of the Auto-Boost Suction setting), but it still isn't that bad (much quieter than out other). It is so much quieter, that it doesn't really bother any of our cats (they will even walk up to it while it is going, but haven't gotten any to ride it yet). Now, the Auto-clean Station is a little louder when it activates (which is for about 10-20 seconds), so may not be the best idea to run when anyone is napping. And the battery life is amazing! During its first run, it had done most of the downstairs area (missed only the majority of the dining room, for a total of 1033 sq. ft.) before it needed to charge and clean out the dust bin. The amount of time of cleaning before charging was 2 hours and 25 minutes! Granted, about 70-75% is hard floor (wood or tile), so it didn't have to kick up the suction power as much, but still better that any time with our other vacuum (maybe 90 minutes at the most at the beginning of a cycle, but mainly only 30-45 minutes at a time). It probably would have completely finished that time, but it spent a lot of time trying to get on to one of our rugs, which is a little thick (it eventually did, but didn't stay on for long, and didn't totally clean). The next time, it actually completed the entire downstairs area (well, minus that thicker rug, for a total of 1109 sq. ft.) on a single charge, in 2 hours and 21 minutes. One feature that we probably won't be using is the built-in OSMO Mopping. It has a water reservoir to fill with purified or softened water. You will attach either the washable microfiber pad or a disposable cleaning cloth to the cleaning cloth plate, then attach the plate under the reservoir. Then insert the reservoir back int the vacuum. While the plate is attached, it will avoid carpeted areas to keep it from getting wet. With the pad being at back, it can actually vacuum and mop at the same time. For a better mopping clean, there is also an enhanced mopping attachment that can be purchased (the OZMO PRO Mopping System), which will vibrate to get a more thorough wet clean. All in all, this is a great system for automated vacuuming, at a decent price point, and having the Auto-clean Station more than makes up for the default mopping capability for us.

This is an incredible robot that does exactly what I want. Instead of paying my cleaner to vacuum for 45 minutes, I just run "Bender" (gave it a nickname) and it cleans for 106 minutes non-stop in hard to reach places. My dogs would run around and now it's fall, there are leaves everywhere. Bender picks it all up. Recommendation: go to the app, select continuous cleaning. This is important because it the robot runs out of battery and goes back to charge, it won't save the map. Then you can have the option to select areas to clean and mop. Some people are correct in saying that the T8+ is the T8 WITH the empty station. All in one package. Super great to select the schedule in areas that need more cleaning than others and have it clean automatically. Quiet too. Highly recommend this product.

Cleans both carpet and hardwood very well. Excellent object avoidance. However, long hair tends to get stuck in brushroll, so it periodically needs to be cut and cleaned. Also, if dustbin is too full, the base unit has a hard time sucking it out. App can be a little disorganized to find the right options, but after getting used to it, it works well.

Great vacuum. It took a few tries to complete the initial map of the house but once that was done it was amazing. The spot clean feature is a must. Mopping is just ok but it avoids carpets in mop mode which is a big plus.

Maybe 3 1/2 stars. Vacuum works well. Doesn't move my stools around and gets where it needs to except deep into corners. I think it would learn well and find the most efficient paths. However, the mapping keeps getting messed up and it has to restart from scratch which is the extremely frustrating. Also, I can't specify more than one specific square or rectangle area for it to clean at a time. It would be nice if I could send it to two specific areas with one cleaning cycle. Also the mop function is a joke. It will get small amounts of dirt off the fllor but if there are spots that are visible to the naked eye, it will not clean it up. I am impressed with the vacuum and like that it automatically knows when it goes from hard surfaces to carpet. However, the poor mapping and inability to mop, even after adding extra padding, makes me wonder if there is something better for the money.

Works well when it works. Not much wrong with the hardware. It occasionally gets stuck in a tight spot. Any issues with it getting caught are preventable and typical for a robot vacuum: cords, horizontal legs or supports at the ground. The software, however has vexed us. It has pretty much all the features you’d want. The issue is it keeps “losing” its maps, and has to remap the house all the time and loses the schedules, custom settings for the rooms, etc. it’s just too much of a hassle. We’ve had this for just over a year and I’m pretty sick of having to trouble shoot the map issues. Also, the bin in the vacuum itself only emptied about half the time. It requires a lot of regular maintenance too, but that seems to be true of any robot vacuum.

This is one of the best bots in the market for this price. The mapping feature is very useful. the only downside of it. Its the mopping feature that doesn't really clean as it is suppose to. I don't really like this feature I think it needs to be further developed.

We purchased this vacuum 2 years ago and it worked great up until a week ago. The vacuum's right wheel stopped working and it will drive in a circle for about 1 minute before stopping. After researching the issue, ive seen several people complain about the same problem and its been found out to be an issue with the mainboard of the vacuum. I contacted Ecovacs and was told i would be responsible for the repairs. Thats unacceptable for a $750 vacuum.
