The emptying station never works. Ive taken it apart and confirmed there are no clogs and bag is empty. Apparently the suction is not strong enough to empty it. I have to manually empty it every single time.

I won’t beat around the bush and say this isn’t an expensive product (hopefully you followed that double negative ok). It’s one of the more expensive robot vacuums I’ve seen. And if it was only a robot vacuum, the price might be a little steep. However, when you consider that this is a robot vacuum and a robot mop along with some of it’s features, such as the auto empty station and smart mapping, well then the price gets a whole lot more reasonable. One of my biggest frustrations with robot vacuums is how often I have to empty them. I have a dog who sheds like crazy, so I ran my robot vacuum daily to try to keep up. With my previous vacuum, I was lucky if I only had to empty it every other day. So, this is a vast improvement, I usually empty one to two times a week now. The mapping option is pretty awesome too. My previous robot vacuum bounced around the house and usually got to most places. Somehow some places always seem to get missed though. Mapping eliminates that issue. Prior to the Deebot, I did also have a robot mop. It was super simple, but did a decent job for what it was. However, I had to set it up separately from my vacuum and it had a removable battery that needed to be charged (instead of a charging station). I love having everything all in one system, especially since I have all tile floors downstairs. Now I will say, I don’t think think this is the absolute best robot vacuum I’ve ever had. I’ve had others with more powerful heads and suction that I think gave carpets and rugs a little bit deeper clean. That’s why I took one star off. However, the convenience and features of the Deebot still make for a great product, especially if it will be used mostly on hard floors.

Overall great machine - but has a few hiccups

The ECOVACS Robotics - DEEBOT OZMO T8+ is a great little vacuum that makes taking care of the simple things a piece of cake, and has a nifty little app that is easy to follow and use. It does have a few small hiccups, which I will get to later. Setup - Setup was easy enough, although it was a bit overwhelming at first. When you first open the main box, you have about 3 boxes that all have pieces in them. Without knowing what is what, I removed everything thinking I would need it all. Turns out, you don't, It's great that this vacuum comes with extra filters, garbage bags for the station, and the bristled brushes that connect to the bottom, but you don't need all that stuff at the beginning. It would be nice if somehow the extra supplies were in a separate package marked as such. And there are some extra pieces (if you are placing the docking station on a carpet), that you would need to install, but I did not so that piece went back in the box. All in all, just plug in the docking station in a space where you have atleast 2 feet on each side, and I believe 5 in the front, remove the packing inserts, attach the 2 side cleaning brushes, turn on the power button on the vacuum, and download the app. You are good to go from there. First use and continued use - What you want to do on first use is make sure you pick up anything on the floor that shouldn't be there. Kids toys, pet toys, movies, shoes, etc. Here's your chance to pick up a little! Also make sure all the rooms you want to have cleaned are opened. No closed doors. On the initial setup and scan the robot vacuum will go through and "map" your house to have a plan it can follow, so you want to make sure everything is open and available or you will have to re-map the house, and it takes a while. Took mine about 90 minutes to be exact. To give you a frame, we have a small house, single floor, 1300 sq ft. So larger homes, and multiple floors, would take longer. It does clean as it goes though so that was nice. The app will become your best friend. After the initial setup and clean, you will have a floor plan shown of your house in the app and it will label each room with a letter (Living Room - A, Kitchen - B, Dining Room- C, Master Bedroom - D, etc.), so when you clean you have 3 options. You can run the vacuum to just auto clean the full house, do a custom clean by room ( say you want just Living Room and Master Bedroom), or the 3rd option is to draw a box (in the app), using your finger around the area you wish to clean, and custom clean that way. When cleaning is finished, it automatically returns to the docking station (which has a garbage bag inside of it), and auto empties the trash it collected (Mostly - see my cons below) so it's ready for next use. This thing is smart or it may just be the AI technology in it. When I was first setting this up and it was running through my house, no matter how much I tried to keep the path clean of objects, my 2 cats kept being curious and getting in the way of the vacuum. It was smart enough to sense the "object", and go around it to continue mapping and cleaning. I was worried that moving forward, since it went around that "spot" originally that it would think every time it was supposed to avoid that spot, but that's not the case. The vacuum always knows where to go. It cleans and checks all areas within the initial mapped areas. It really is neat because it gets really close to corners and cleans under chairs, dressers, etc. If it can fit, it will make sure it gets in there and cleans. It has these like "tap push" sensors on the side that when it makes contact with a corner or edge of say the fridge, or a chair, it automatically maneuvers around it to keep cleaning. Very cool! I have mostly hardwood floors, but a few area rugs, and it knows when it senses that to increase the suction power automatically to account for the extra thickness of the carpet. You also can manually adjust the suction level in the app. Cons - So overall this is great, but I will say a few things. While it DOES suck up pet hair, it does NOT empty it into the auto docking station. I have a persian long haired cat, and maybe its just too thick and long of fur, but the vacuum will empty into the docking station, and yet every time I check the vacuums bin manually, there will still be a huge glob of cat hair in there, so I need to manually empty that every week or so. Not a huge deal, and perhaps there is a separate attachment or something to help with this? But as is, it seems to have problems emptying pet hair from the little bin inside the vacuum. 2nd issue - Getting "stuck". So as mentioned I have hardwood floors. There are 2 spots where the rooms meet where there is a piece of trim connecting the rooms on the floor. About 1/4" thick. Initial setup and clean, and even 2nd time cleaning, vacuum had no problem getting over this, and continuing on it's way. Now, every so often, for whatever reason the unit will get "stuck" and not be able to get over the "hump". Vacuum will just keep turning endlessly in the same spot, unable to get over it. I have to give it a "nudge" to get it back on track. Doesn't happen all the time, but every 1/3 tries or so while cleaning. 3rd issue - Auto drop sensors false alerts. So for whatever reason, and again this does not happen everytime, but when the vacuum runs over the heat vents in the floor, the sensors on the bottom of the vacuum must sense the depth in the vent and gives an error, stops the unit mid clean, and will announce to me via the built in speaker "please clean auto drop sensors". Well the unit is brand new, and it did this on the first go. I checked the sensors on the bottom, and nothing. Completely clean. And it only happens when it runs over vents, occasionally, so I know it's got to be something with the depth sensing of the vents. So overall, this is a great little machine. The 3 issues I mentioned are minuscule, and easy to remedy. They do not affect performance of this machine at all. It's a great little tool. Obviously this does not get rid of ALL vacuuming required in a house, as this can not get behind a TV, a nightstand, or area blocked by furniture. But for everyday use and areas not blocked by items, this is a huge help for people that may not be able to vacuum as much as they would like. I would recommend this product

I thought this would be my all in one solution to off cleaning days. After about of week of use I’m not sure about it. The app is cool and does a good job of letting you know the areas cleaned. It breaks it down and you are supposedly able to sequence this. My house was broken down into 5 section on the map, but after setting the sequence multiple times it only cleans the first one every time. So with the issue I removed the mop bin to see if it was my area rugs causing the problem. So the auto feature kicked it on with mop bin out and it went on the carpet.. cool.. but now it’s not able to clean the house continuously without going back for a charge. I have a 1900sq ft home.. this vacuum is cleaning approx 600 sq ft. How can this thing not make it on one charge? My other robot vac does much better, is simpler, and can clean the house 10x on one charge. This one looks better, is quieter by far, and has an auto dump feature I found useful. What I don’t like about this is I can’t set it to auto 3x a week and just have it pick up around the house. Ridiculous.

We recommend fully charging your DEEBOT before using. Once it has a full charge, it can run for up to 3 hours to cover up to 3,200 square feet, and will return to the charging dock when the battery is low.

When customizing your cleaning, note in Area Mode your DEEBOT will only clean the sections you select. In Auto Mode, your DEEBOT will clean all sections. Either mode will clean in the sequence you set. If you still experience any issues reach out to us at [email protected] with any questions and we’ll be happy to help. ecovacs

Handled mopping and hard floors. Maps rooms - does not bump off of furniture and rarely gets stuck (small room with two doors half open). Empty's at base, speaks error codes. Finally a robot replacement for main unit (not supplemental unit).

We've had the Deebot T8 for 3 weeks, an early Christmas present to ourselves. Setup wasnt too complicated. The first run where it maps out the house seemed confusing, but it all makes sense once it's done. The app is 100% simple and easy to use. I am entertained just watching it run each room on the app. I scheduled mine to run everyday at the same time, and it's always right on time. The thing even talks to you telling when it's starting, if it get hung up on a cord or flimsy rug and when its done, headed back to charging station, and when its emptying the dust bin. You can really see the difference it makes before and after on the floors. We have a 1400 sq ft home, about 1/2 tile and 1/2 carpet. Does very well a on both as well as a big rug in the living room. You know its on carpet because it ramps up the power, then ramps down on smooth surfaces. We have not used the mop feature yet (the Holidays kept us busy) but if its anything like the vacuum, it gets a gold star. This runs circles around my old roomba! It is extremely careful around furniture and has an amazing radar detection system. I am recommending to everyone I know. It is pricey, but we lucked out when we found it on sale for $300 off at Best Buy. I forgot to mention we have a cat and a dog, it does well with animal hair...the cat was suspicious the first two times it ran, but it's very quiet and now they couldn't care less. We have a very expensive dyson, but now we only use it for spot clean ups, edging, or couch cusions as needed.

    Buy it!

I have the T8+ that I purchased on sale and love it. This robot is worth the investment - get it. I returned the iRobot i7+ for the T8+. The T8+ works fantastic in the dark, has a longer run time, maps quickly, has an awesome app, mops, and has an option for an inexpensive mop upgrade that also oscillates. What prompted me to buy the i7 first is that our second floor is carpeted and many reviews said irobot was superior on carpets - in real life I have not found this to be the case. Additionally, the T8 is better in so many ways as listed above. I researched, made a spreadsheet, annoyed my husband with vacuum talk that all led me to the i7 on paper. The T8 is the one staying in our home and doing a fantastic job vacuuming and mopping our home. The i7 took days to map and hours to clean - like 4+ on our mostly solid surface first floor. The i7 seemed like I was waiting for or planning around what it could do instead of me being able to run it when it was convenient for us. Additionally, I like to run the robot at night because the house is busy during the waking hours with family activity. The i7 needs lights on. The T8+ uses lasers and does not need lights and does what we want, when we want, and it has been a much better experience. If I want to run the robot quickly before company I can with the T8 the i7 takes some extra planning because it takes so long to clean. The i7 has to recharge before completing one of our floors - the T8 knocks each floor out in one charge.

    Great Vacuum, ok mopper

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Ecovac debot Ozmo T8 + is a good vacuum, and an ok Maintenance mopper. Lets looks at my findings: Out of the box you must take out some safety padding, some protection stickers and put the filters in. No big deal. Then Download the app and connect it to your Wi-Fi. (the instructions say you must have a 2.4Ghz network.) The unit will auto update the firmware. This takes quite a bit of time. At least 15 minutes to download and another 20 to minutes upload and install. While this is updating you must have the unit on the charger and turned on. The unit itself updates you with voice status. Such as Charging, starting to vacuum, completed and if something is wrong it will notify you of an issue as well as push notifications on your phone. The unit comes with 2 sets of dust bags. (one installed) 2 filters (one installed.) A cleaning reusable cloth for mopping, 5 disposable cleaning clothes, and replacement brushes. The 3d mapping can be viewed live as your unit moves from room to room. I geeked out on this and thought this was awesome. Once mapped, the rooms are then labeled with a letter that you can rename with icons such as bathroom, bedroom, living room etc. you can save multiple maps (so if you use this on multiple floors this is great). From the map you can draw a box or circle around an individual room and have it vacuum/mop it. This is great for picking up a small mess without having to do the whole house. (i.e. messy kids eating chips) After mapping you can open additional advanced options such as those mentioned above or even select areas or virtual boundaries, like a kids room that even after asking them 5 times to clean they don’t. You can skip it instead of waiting for them. The dual brushes on the front of the unit are great for reaching in and under tight corners or small spaces. They help guide the dirt into the roller section. When vacuuming, the T8 went into my daughter’s bathroom. She has hip length hair. It did not take long for the brush to tangle, it paused, and the voice responded with the reason (Clogged rollers). I used the on-board cleaning tool to cut through the hair with no issues and was back to vacuuming in under a minute. When the unit is done vacuuming it will return to the base and upload dust and small dirt particle into a bag installed in the base. I also have an English setter with long hair and when combined with my daughter’s hair, the unit did not evacuate the entire contents of the trapper. I had to manually remove the container and empty it. On another occasion, It was able to fully evacuate the entire contents of the collector hair and all without issue. The bag will need replaced after it fills. According to the manual. This usually happens around 30 plus or minus uses. The unit will let you know when this happens. The freshly vacuumed carpet marks proved to me that all areas of my carpets were vacuumed, and it did a good job. The noise levels were acceptable at the low, medium and high vacuum setting. The App said it took 57 minutes to do 463 Sq. feet. This also included mapping the floor. I am sure now that it is mapped, the overall time will shorten. Battery life is good so far, 57 minutes used about 1/2 of the battery. To Mop you must install a cloth cleaning pad. (You must first dampen it to promote better cleaning. This automagically allows your vac to mop.) Fill your vac with purified water (instructions say water, but do not elude to using mopping solvents) Why clean with pure water? Went to the website and it only mentions water. The mopping did OK but could, have been better especially since I have a dog and kids. My kitchen floor tends to get dirty. But I would use this feature as more of a maintenance task, more so than using this exclusively as my mopper. Likewise, I would deep clean with an upright vacuum first then set a schedule (in the APP) as a maintenance vacuum solution. I ran the mop with the water set at lowest level. The water level of the reserve tank went down very little. So, I redid the floor, this time with it set at max. I did notice more water used but not what I expected. The floor dried quickly. (the app warned that too much water would make the wheels spin) The floor appeared clean, but it was relatively clean before my test. I would think that a dirty floor or floor with dog prints or dried spill would not come clean on a 1-time pass. Until EcoVac allows the use of mopping liquid agents, I would not buy this unit solely for the mopping ability (unless you purchase the optional pro vac accessory). Using just water while mopping is just pushing unseen contaminants around your floor. EcoVac also has an aforementioned optional Pro mopping system that will work with this unit. It actually shakes the cleaning pads 480 times per minute to get a better clean. It is stated to remove over 99% of Bacteria. (still doesn't mention use of mopping agents, just water.) The replacement parts are rather pricey, such as filters and dust collectors and cleaning/dusting cloths. To summarize; I think this unit is OK but can use a little work, such as being able to add cleaning agents to the mop to sanitize your floor, make the dust collectors removable, so that you can dump, thus saving users the hassle, money and environment too, from replacing the actual paper filters. I would say if you are in the market for a Good robot vac. This one rather good, but do your homework to see which one suits your needs best.

The DEEBOT OZMO T8+ is a really solid Robot vacuum. Over the course of a few days, the T8+ has displayed a number of truly admirable qualities that more established competitors hope you won't notice. First: the T8+ is *very quiet*. When I say really quiet, I mean "probably won't wake the baby quiet". You can set the level of suction to whatever level you'd like, and it does make a difference in the level of clean - but the level of noise seems to stay relatively constant. There are exactly two loud parts to this vacuum: the voice narration (which you can mute) and the auto-empty cycle to clean out the dust bin (which sounds much more like a vacuum you'd expect). Second: the level of clean and dirt/dust it removes is very good. As with most robot vacuums, larger things won't get picked up (marbles, blueberries, etc). Dirt and dust are toast, though. In terms of a smart robot that will keep your house tidy, you can't really do much better - especially if you use the T8+ as a regular maintenance-type vacuum that you supplement with the occasional thorough deep-clean. The T8+ has a spot-cleaning/room cleaning mode, and is smart enough to know where to stop. Because of all the sensors it has, it can intelligently discern in which room it is, what obstacles are in its way, if those obstacles are moving, and can put a pin in a spot to come back and clean later. Real-world example: my kiddos were actively placing lego figures on top of the T8+ while it was cleaning. It correctly discerned that they were moving obstacles and turned around before doubling back and hitting the same spot it missed earlier. On the first run, the vacuum seemed to be slightly more competent in extracting itself from situations like getting stuck in a bathroom or behind a door, but this seems to be a common issue with AI-enabled robots. The T8+ didn't really figure out that it was stuck; it just kept trying the same thing over and over again. Even so, the map it creates of your house is startlingly accurate, including obstacles that block the vacuum (and it keeps a map of which areas it visited for each clean in the app!) The app has a slew of settings that allow you to tweak your experience and made setup a breeze. Total time from unboxing to first clean was about 20 minutes. The vacuum is both fast and thorough; rather than weaving random diagonal pathways through your home, it seems to snag corners first, then goes back and forth in straight lines until it closes the rectangle. From there it goes to the next corner and starts a new section. Third: you don't have to do much to babysit this robot. Some vacuums you have to regularly rescue... across a number of cleans so far, I've had to rescue it one time. It successfully navigates from hardwood to carpet and back with minimal problems. Each time it's done cleaning, it successfully navigates back to its charging station successfully, even if the landscape has changed slightly or if kids or other movable obstacles get in its way. It does NOT vacuum on the way back. If it runs out of charge halfway through (which I had to replicate by draining the battery doing multiple spot cleans without recharging - the battery life is very good!), you can tell it to pick up where it left off with Continuous Clean Mode. The vacuum seems to charge very quickly, so you won't be waiting long. The base station itself is a little bulky (about the width and length of a pet feeder or dining room chair, and about calf-height). The design is such that it won't really be out of place next to trash cans or other appliances. OK, so, with all this awesomeness - why only 4 stars? The Mop Mode. While the vacuum demonstrates the same level of thoroughness as with normal vacuum mode, there's a lot of prep that has to go into setting it up (in fact, just as much as if you had a separate robot to do that). The mop mode is much more for maintenance cleaning and because of the prep involved, it's more of a chore than just getting out the mop and cleaning yourself. You can customize the level of water it uses but that's about it - the mop itself doesn't vibrate or scrub to any degree, so if you have juice spills or any sort of muck or gunk, you're still gonna have to bust out the mop anyway. Unless you put warm water in the tank, the water isn't heated in any way, so there's just no cleaning oomph to it. The one major upside is that the T8+ comes with a microfiber mop head, so it will "get the floor clean" if it's just a simple clean you're after. Compared to a dedicated Mop-bot, the mop function feels more like an afterthought... especially because the robot doesn't auto-navigate to other rooms where moppable floors are (which I guess is good, because it'd then be soaking your carpets if it had to traverse carpets... but again, more work for you!) Ultimately: the DEEBOT OZMO T8+ relegated our other robot vacuum to another floor because it's just that good. I'll still probably use a different mop-bot and I'm still waiting for a robot vacuum that can traverse stairs - but until that day, this is a really good robot vacuum and one that will serve your needs well.
